Chapter 2: Chapter Two: Roxie's POV

Chapter Two:

Roxie's POV

-- call ends --

Being the loving elder sister, Roxie gets worried about Raven. She decides to call her again, although failing miserably numerous times. She wasn’t going to give up just yet.

Dials again...

-- busy on another call --

Keeps dialling…

-- disconnected --

-- unreachable --

-- switched off --

-- didn't connect --

-- didn't connect --

--

*Voice mail*

Hello, yeah? *pause*

Haha just kidding. Raven this side, probably busy enjoying my summer vacay don't bother reaching me! Toodles!!

--

And the call gets disconnected yet again. Directing her to the same recorded voice message over and over again, every time she dialed Raven’s number up.

Frustrated and anxious, she yells, "I sometimes don't understand what goes on up inside Raven's head! "

“Like, she was born to … “ Roxie sighs

Hearing Roxie yell so loud, someone decided to come & check-in on her. Clyde Lee. Roxie didn’t have many friends except this one here. It’s been two years since Clyde moved in next door and ever since then, he & Roxi have bonded so well that it is safe to call them friends and not just acquaintances.

*knocks on the door*

*knocks again*

“You alright in there?” A voice from the other side of the door calls out to her, concerned.

He didn’t have a heavy voice even though he was partially American, rather his voice was that of a boy who is yet to hit puberty. One could even mistake him for a teenager, no doubt!

“Am fine, just go away” Roxie answers in an annoyed tone.

“ I heard you screaming, even the lady next door is worried about you. Is it about Raven again?” The voice asked her as he slightly kept knocking on the door with his knuckles. As the door was kind of ajar, his other hand could be seen wrapped around the door. Pale, that was his complexion.

Perhaps he was eager to walk inside and wrap Roxie in his arms just so she could have one moment of peace for herself, but could he do that? He wondered.

“Just leave me alone!” Roxie hits the door again & replies in an aggressive tone.

“I understand how worried you are, hell even I have a younger brother to worry about. Let me in at least,” The voice pleaded.

Annoyed enough, Roxie decides to finally let him in. Just a couple of steps and then she proceeds to unlock the door, since the chain was still keeping the door from being wide open.

*Door opens*

“What do you want???” Roxie questions, still annoyed of course.

A guy in his early twenties walks in. He has hazel eyes, which is quite rare but his dark brown hair like any other typical Asian complimented his eyes along with his height of 188cm. He wore a beige hoodie, with a pair of black denim. His clothes reflected his pale complexion very well. He had his own charm, perhaps his half-American and half-Asian genes played their roles in it. He was nothing but a sort of beauty not everyone can pull off. His appearance was pleasing to the eyes as one could be. Elegant, That would be the term you would use to describe him.

He walks closer to Roxie as if he was about to hug her sorrow away but, for some reason he refrains from doing so. Probably, because he didn’t know if she wanted one. Needless to say, the drama Raven caused in Roxie’s life couldn’t be calmed with just a hug. She steps away looking at her phone screen while he had his eye glued onto her.

“Uh.. I heard you screaming, so I thought you shouldn’t be alone...

Is this about Raven again??” his voice was as calm as the sea, soothing to hear and also someone could mistake it for some sort of melody. Angelic.

But poor Clyde, he was getting ignored again and again. Roxie didn’t even bother to look at him.

“Told you to go away, you’re not needed here” Roxie murmurs as she chooses to ignore Clyde.

While Clyde was trying to comfort Roxie, Roxie didn't seem to care as she was too engrossed in making the phone calls. She had been continuously dialling and failing to connect through them.

-- didn't connect --

Multiple calls didn't connect anymore.

Roxie was losing her shit with all the attempts to connect with Raven. Suddenly, she recalls what Raven had forwarded to her earlier before it all had yet to happen.

“What was that email she sent me, again??” she mumbles while holding her head.

“What email?” Clyde questions, he had always been quick. His ears were also sensitive, he could easily hear Roxie mumbling from the other side of the door.

“Raven sent me an email earlier asking me if I would go with her. I should have said yes,” Raven replies in regret. She didn’t mean to hurt her, but she didn’t have a choice there.

“Go? Go where?” Clyde questions again, but Roxie fails to even process what he was saying.

Roxie quickly unlocks her stupid old phone and checks for the mail Raven had forwarded to her.

“You at least need to talk to me, this won’t do Roxie.” Clyde tries to earn Roxie’s trust with no luck.

"What the heckery is this now? It was just right there a minute ago and now it's just encrypted into some other language?"

" Is this some kind of a joke? Did she do it on purpose?"

"Urgh Raven!!!! What is wrong with you??!!" She yells, inside her head. What was she to do, feeling all helpless and her anxiety getting the best of her?

“Woah, calm down there” Clyde is taken aback looking at the face Roxie made, it was getting out of hand.

“Maybe the mail had some virus”, Clyde suggests

This is Roxie, Roxanne; Raven's elder sister. She only cares about two things in the whole world: her sister Raven & her "work".

"How do I reach her now??" Roxie almost starts sobbing.

“We’ll find a way out, let me help you” Clyde offers to help.

"It was some camp right?" Roxie seems to have ignored what Clyde had just said and starts talking to herself.

"What was the name!!!!!" she yells. Unable to remember, she gets even more anxious.

Roxie cares about her sister more than anything in the world, she is more like her guardian angel and sometimes a furious and nagging mother. All because she cares extremely for her unappreciative baby sister.

Furiously, Roxie keeps dialling Raven but there seems to be no luck…Clyde stood there hopelessly watching everything that Roxie had been doing to get her sister back, the mess she had made out of herself.

An hour later…

Clyde was still there, watching Roxie make a mess out of her head, when suddenly Roxie exclaimed in worry. The lines on her face were too prominent now that she had been constantly worrying about her baby sister.

" I have to do something!" Roxie sounded determined as she is with the last bit of patience left in he

“Will you tell me what is going on? Roxie!!!” At this point, it was getting unbearable for Clyde and he ended up yelling at Roxie.

Roxie who has been standing all this while gets startled from Clyde’s yelling, walks to her desk and takes out the chair. Sits on the chair and opens her dear old laptop; wishing there was any other way or even slightest of a clue to reach her sister.

“What are you doing ?” Clyde interrupted her.

All this time, Roxie had been ignoring Clyde as if he had been a ghost, she finally let him in with what she was gonna do.

“I’m looking for all the Summer Camps taking place within the city premises” Roxie replies with a little bit of hope.

"Seems like it's going to be a long road to find her" sighs Roxie.

“Well that’s good news, you seem to have calmed down now. I shall leave you alone now, you know where to find me.” Clyde takes his leave.

“I need to check in on my parents,” Clyde says as he heads towards the door.

“Alright, see you later” Roxie waves while her eyes fixated on the screen.

-- calls all the possible camps she could have registered for --

" Ma'am sorry, your voice is not clear"

" We can't hear you properly"

" There's some static from your side"

.

.

.

The same reply, framed differently is the answer from everyone for her queries while most were manually handled, there was one call that led to an automated voice but before she could hang up she got a reply.

" We can't share the information but, do you want to register?"

" No, thank you"

-- Disappointed she hangs up --

Roxie has now reached a point where she was at the lowest and soon before it was almost sunrise and Roxie doesn't realize until the rays of the sunbeams fall on her desk.

" Damnit”, she mutters.

“It's morning already!"

" Even if I leave right now, It will still take 9 hours to reach her place"

"It's no use though she might leave at any moment, how do I find her?"

Sighs in despair…

Fixates her sight on the ray of light as she ponders what other ways she has…

As she was completely absorbed in her thoughts, soon she was found staring at the pinboard in front of her.

“Wait what is that??”, Roxie noticed a postcard pinned up on the board.

”The Camp", Roxie reads off the now unpinned postcard with a scenery of a typical camping site.

"Rokvale Forest.” Roxie mumbles as she flips it around.

“That sounds quite familiar, though I can't remember", Roxie said to herself with a doubt.

"Ahh my head hurts"

"Must be because of staying up for so long" Roxie continued.

As she tries to remember what ‘Rokvale Forest’ was or rather where it was, her body rapidly gets unsteady and she becomes lightheaded, followed by a tingling sensation of pain as if her body remembers it even though she doesn't.

"I think it's all the caffeine acting up, shouldn't have had it that much" Roxie words it as she starts to feel dizzy.

Right then her phone beeps,

--beep beep beep--

-- A new Message --

Unknown: "Come to Aldore and find it yourself, let's see if you can save her or she just turns into another you but better; Dead..

Roxie reads with her now half-shut eyes and tries to frame a reply

Roxie: She is my sister, don’t you da...

“Hmm this is unusual, she left the door open..” Clyde was just by the door, being the good friend and neighbour he is, came to check on Roxie.

Roxie soon drops her phone and loses consciousness leading her to fall off the chair.

Only to be found by Clyde… “ROXIE!!!” He screams as he attempts to catch her in his arm...
