Chapter 41: Chapter 39

Somewhere in the world of Idle Online there was a beautiful meadow where all the flowers were in bloom and the little animal animals lived without any worries.

A little bunny was chewing on a flower peacefully when suddenly his ears perked up and he looked around in an alert position.

Splash

From the river that crossed the meadow something suddenly appeared causing the poor a scare and started to flee in terror.

A figure came out of the water, dragging something like a sack.

Cough cough

"You're crazy making us jump into the river" Jake said as he threw what he was carrying to the ground.

BAM

"Ouch, you couldn't treat me with a little more delicacy" replied John who had exhausted all of his stamina.

Hearing what John had to say Jake he couldn't help but twitching his eyebrows.

"Oh, I am so sorry. Please let me fix it" he said as he proceeded to punch him on the head.

BAM

"Ouch"

"You not only made us jump into the river, you also did it with your armor on, what were you thinking?" Jake reproached him as he put the wet clothes in inventory and pulled them dry again.

Being a player had advantages.

"I can't believe that after we got rid of the hunters we came across that giant snake" Jake said as he remembered how they hardly survived.

"Hahaha, look on the bright side at least we're alive" John replied as he proceeded to do the same.

"Why are you laughing?" Jake protested "That thing chased us all the way through half of the forest, if not because you put on the armor to sink us into the river until we were out of its territory all our sacrifice would have been in vain"

Just when John and Jake had gotten rid of the hunters, they did not expect to encounter a giant snake over 12 meters in length that chased them for more than twenty kilometers.

The moment Jake thought that was the end of him, John did something amazing, he put on his armor on, grabbed Jake and they both sank into the water like rocks.

Still, it was not enough.

The snake was still chasing them by the border of the river, neither of them knew if that huge white snake could swim so they began to detach from objects they had in inventory to float and distract it while they conveniently went out for a few breaths of air every so often.

Obviously, all this was possible thanks to the fact that these were not their actual bodies.

About ten minutes later when they thought they were running out of the objects in their inventory was the moment when the snake stopped chasing them, not of their own free will, but they had left its territory.

Predators almost never leave their territory for fear that it will be occupied by another creature while they are not in it.

Thinking of all the items they had lost after months of work, Jake and John couldn't help but shed a tear.

"This is all the fault of those hunters!!!" said Jake angrily "If they had not chased for more than two days we would have been able to escape successfully and we would not have invaded the snake's territory"

"Now that you mention it, why do you think the hunters reached such heights to catch us?" John asked very confused.

Both players had been in the tribe for a whole year and knew the character of the hunters perfectly.

Basically, these guys were governed by the law of minimum effort, if they could do less work, they did. This is also one of the reasons why Jake and John decided to run away from the tribe.

In their escape plan they imagined that they would be pursued for half a day at most and after returning without results they would continue with their usual routine. It hadn't even crossed their minds that these bums would go to such lengths for them.

"No idea, it doesn't matter much anyway" Jake replied "The important thing now is to know where we are and check how many supplies we have left"

After throwing away more than half the things in their inventories they had to see what they had.

Jake and John set out to search for a something that could give them some indication of where they were but were unsuccessful.

The only thing they could observe is that they had come out of the forest which was not very useful.

Apart from seeing the forest in the distance, in the opposite direction they could see a range of mountains too far away to see if there were any populations there.

Seeing that it was going to take more effort than they thought to find a way to the nearest city, both players decided to search their inventory for any supplies they might still have after their escape.

"There are still supplies left, the most important thing right now is to stay calm and watch the situation carefully," said Jake.

"You're right" John replied as he began to look in his inventory for objects that may be useful.

"Let's see, I have a tent left, some rope, several clothes and enough food for a day," John replied.

"It's worse than I imagined"

When they left the tribe, they had prepared between the two of them enough food for three months, not including all the necessary provisions to survive in the wild.

Just having that miniscule amount left is enough for anyone to realize how close they came to being a snack for the snake.

After John observed what he had in his inventory, Jake began to do the same.

In reality, he did not have much more than John, however it was important to count the exact number of supplies and utensils they had in order to take the best course of action so without further ado he began to remove things.

"Let's see, I have a lighter, supplies for 3 days, a knife, a frying pan, … eh? What is this?"

...

After Allan made his peace with all the townspeople, he returned to the inn to see how Sara was doing.

Alan went directly to the Inn from the barracks but to his surprise when he arrived, she was not there. In fact, the Inn was empty with only one exception.

"Ahem"

Instead, Allan came across a 6-foot-tall cook with a frying pan in one hand.

"Hello Allan" contrary to the look of joy on his face, the cook's tone of voice was calm as if he was reading what he was saying.

Allan didn't bother to answer him, he just turned and walked away the way he'd come without looking back.

Sadly before Alan could leave the inn a huge hand grabbed his neck and lifted directly a foot off the ground.

When Alan looked into the cook's eyes, he couldn't help but tremble slightly as he replied.

"H-hello Sam"

"I see that you are feeling better, have you been able to sleep well?" Sam asked without the smile leaving his face.

"Y-yes, thank you for asking," Allan told him as he searched for escape routes.

"It's a pleasure, that's what friends do, right?"

"Right," Allan said.

All the windows were closed and there was nowhere else to escape but the door that Sam was guarding.

"And you and I are friends, right?" Sam asked again as he led Allan into the kitchen.

"R-right, Do you know what? I think I feel a little tired I th- "

Unfortunately, no matter what he said, Sam wasn't going to let him go.

"Actually, I would like to talk to you about a problem that I have. I can tell you something like that, right friend? " Sam said as he placed Allan in a chair.

"O-of course, you can tell me anything"

Hearing what Allan said, Sam's smile grew bigger as he put down the pan and walked over to a set of knives.

"Well you see, I've heard a rumor about a disgusting guy who made my little flower cry"

Sam started to comment as he finally settled on two especially large knives.

"When I heard the news, I couldn't help but be surprised" Sam said as he approached "You see, Sara is one of the most important people in my life and I would do anything for her, I hope you understand how I felt when I found out that someone did something like that to my little girl. You will understand when you are a father "

Just when Sam positioned himself exactly behind Allan's back he asked him:

"Do you know by chance who could have done such a thing to Sara?" Although Sam was a few feet away all Allan could hear was the sound of knives rubbing against each other.

"Who was the ruthless disgusting bastard that could see such a thing done? You know?"

For the next several hours, very disturbing screams were heard coming from the Inn where Alan was staying.

Strangely everyone seemed to act as if they hadn't heard anything.
