Chapter 18: Raining Swords

Yun Che, Jasmine, and Mu Xuanyin lie on the ground, coughing blood from their mouths. The beast's divine aura suppressed them all, making them unable to lift even a single finger.

They were paralyzed, and were truly at the mercy of the gigantic beast and its master.

Yun Che's mind was racing to think about any feasible way to escape this predicament. But the gap between their powers was way too vast it was impossible to surmount it.

"Jasmine! Xuanyin! We need to escape and evacuate everyone! Have you guys thought of something?"

Their ideas were his last hope, if there were any. If Jasmine and Mu Xuanyin couldn't think of anything as well, they would be totally doomed.

He was weak currently, so he didn't think that even activating Other Shore Ashura would be of any help. Reflecting their powers back with Moon Star Restoration would be impossible to do as well.

With their True God level strength, his lifeforce would surely be reduced to a minus level if he countered it. In other words, he would surely die but there's no way to confirm that the reflected attack could harm them.

"I don't! I've never seen that level of power before! It's really beyond the scope of Divine Master, and there's really nothing we can do about that! Just use the Primordial Profound Ark and try to escape!"

Jasmine's aura flared as she circulated her profound energy like mad. She was burning her blood essences just to fight the paralysis.

Standing next to Jasmine was Mu Xuanyin, fighting the paralysis like Jasmine. Their entire body were quivering, but they still managed to stand on their feet.

"Leave now. I am the strongest here, I will buy you two enough time to escape."

Mu Xuanyin said as her aura flared, becoming even more ferocious. Her gorgeous blue hair were dancing in the air as blizzard manifested all around her. Her profound strength rose higher and higher.

"Yun Che, leave now! We will buy you time so you should--" Jasmine couldn't finish her sentence before Mu Xuanyin cut her short.

"No, you leave with him. I alone am enough to stall them, so you should get going."

"There's no way in hell you can--"

"Leave! You need to protect him and his family once you get out! You're weaker than me, you'll be nothing but a burden here. Leave, now!"

As she said this, Mu Xuanyin unleashed her powers to her surroundings. She knew that her powers wouldn't do anything to both the beast or the hooded figure, so she chose the next best option.

And that is to mask their presence and have Yun Che and Jasmine escape using the Primordial Profound Ark. After that, she would burn all her blood essences and use her forbidden art to draw their attention and stall for time.

The ocean was frozen in an instant as thick mist obscured the entire area. The mist could disrupt one's senses, so their aura and lifeforce faded and blended with the mist.

It was hard to tell where they were, and Mu Xuanyin took this opportunity to form a translucent barrier enveloping Yun Che and Jasmine's body.

"Go, now. My powers won't last long."

Without hesitation, Yun Che took out his Primordial Profound Ark. A light shone on their bodies, and they were soon transported into the Ark's world.

"What are you doing?! I need to stall them for you two to escape! Let me out right now!"

Mu Xuanyin wasn't really surprised that Yun Che did this. She was angry because his selfishness might get them all killed, instead of just sacrificing her to ensure Jasmine and Yun Che's survival.

Yun Che just looked at Mu Xuanyin and Jasmine's panicked face and smiled.

His smile was bright and warm. It was the smile of the naive Yun Che in the previous life who has yet to experience losing his whole world.

Yun Che was surprised that he could still make this kind of smile himself. He thought he could never do it again since that day.

"Don't worry. I will protect both of you this time. No one will have to die or hated by the entire world and banished to death this time."

Yun Che reached out his hands and touched their cheeks. Their skin was soft, and warm.

It was the first time since his regression that he did this. He was afraid to touch them, afraid that they would burst like bubbles if his filthy hands touched them. He was afraid that this illusion would end.

But they didn't.

They were still there, looking at him. Their gazes were filled with confusion and worry, and he was happy. He was happy to see this sight again after a long, long time.

He would protect them this time, even if they're just an illusion. He would save them this time, even if it cost him his life.

"Wait here, I'll be back." Yun Che kissed their foreheads as he said this. Both Jasmine and Mu Xuanyin couldn't process what just happened and just stood there, dumbfounded.

Yun Che exited the Primordial Profound Ark by himself. The mist was gone, and the ocean was no longer frozen.

The gigantic beast was still standing aloof, right behind the hooded figure in the distance. The beast's aura was suffocating, but it no longer paralyzed him.

Yun Che walked closer to them, unafraid. They could've killed him and his companions ten times over if they wanted to, but they didn't.

Yun Che figured that they wanted something from him, and killing him before getting their objective is pointless. He wanted to confirm his theory.

Sure enough, his theory proved to be correct.

Now that he was alone without his companions, the terrifying aura of the gigantic beast receded like a tide. Its size also shrunken rapidly until it was no bigger than an ordinary wolf.

'I have something they want. I don't know if it's information or things that I possess, but they won't kill me outright, at the very least. I'll see if I can negotiate for Yuechan and Wuxin's freedom with whatever it is they want from me.'

Thinking about Yuechan and Wuxin, Yun Che steeled his resolve. He walked closer to the hooded figure and the beast, and stopped a few kilometers away from them.

"What do you want from me?" Yun Che got to the point and asked what they wanted from him. Depending on what it is, his strategy might change.

If they wanted his life, that's also fine.

He still has the ability to resurrect from the Phoenix. If it meant saving the life of Jasmine, Mu Xuanyin, Yuechan, and Wuxin, he would gladly trade his life for it.

"■■■■■■■■."

The hooded figure opened their mouth, but he still couldn't comprehend what they say. The more he focused on it, the more terrible he felt. His profound energy was in chaos, and he had to stop focusing on it to prevent his profound energy from exploding.

It seemed like understanding what the hooded figure say was a futile endeavor.

But that seemed to only happen to him, as the hooded figure seemed to understand him just fine.

He wanted to test it so he said to the the hooded figure.

"I don't understand anything of what you've just said, but you seemed to understand me. If that is the case, I'll say this. Let go of the woman and child you took with you here a week ago, and whatever you want from me, you can get it yourself. I won't resist."

The hooded figure seemed to contemplate on Yun Che's offer. The hooded figure cocked their head left and right eerily as they mumbled in the same, incomprehensible words.

Their body moved erratically in ways that shouldn't be possible physically, but they did. They twisted their head like it was no big deal, it was truly a a strange and eerie sight to see.

After a while, the hooded figure seemed to have come to a decision. They spoke to Yun Che again.

"■■■■■■, ■■■■ ■■■■■■ ■■."

After that, the hooded figure reached out his chained hand to Yun Che.

Yun Che couldn't understand what the hooded figure was saying, but it somehow felt and looked like they agreed to his offer.

Yun Che didn't resist and just watched as the chained hand came closer to his face. He wanted to see what the hooded figure wanted from him.

But just as the hand was about to touch his face, the ground shook hard. Behind the hooded figure was a portal, but it was different than the hooded figure had conjured before.

The portal's shape was like a gate, its frame was gold and the center exuded a bright, white light. It gave off a completely different feeling than the ominous, eerie feeling from the purple portal the hooded figure had conjured before.

Sensing the white, golden gate formed behind them, the hooded figure quickly jumped sideways. The wolf grew to its original gigantic size, and the hooded figure seemed to be wary of the golden gate.

"■■■■■■■■■■ ■■■■, ■■■■."

A gigantic, six-winged golden serpent came out of the golden gate. It had seven heads, all staring and hissing at the hooded figure and gigantic wolf menacingly.

The gigantic wolf howled in response, as its aura returned to its previous divine state. The six-winged golden serpent flapped its wings and flew, radiating a blinding golden light.

Yun Che was blasted by the gigantic wolf's howl and his body was paralyzed by its divine aura just like before. The six-winged golden serpent's light fell on his body, however, and he immediately felt relieved.

The golden light healed his injury in an instant, and he could move his body freely again. The golden light was so bright that it illuminated the whole ocean, turning the dark, black light barrier golden.

The six-winged golden serpent opened one of its mouth, and a myriad of gigantic golden swords appeared in the air.

Each and every one of those swords could sunder the Primal Chaos apart, and the six-winged golden serpent lobbed them all towards the gigantic wolf.

The gigantic wolf's entire body was cloaked in a transparent green light as it evaded the rain of swords. It jumped left and right, narrowly dodging the incoming swords.

It didn't last long, however, as a sword brushed against its fur, and the wounds leaked a green blood.

More and more wounds dotted the gigantic wolf's body, and soon it was riddled with wounds. Its entire body no longer looked snow white, it looked green now after soaking in its own blood.

The hooded figure evaded the swords as well this entire time. They seemed to have an easier time though, as no sword could inflict damage on him. They deflected the swords with the rusted chains binding their limbs.

The six-winged serpent seemed to grow impatient and wanted to end the duo quickly. It opened two more of its mouths, and the intensity of the sword rain increased tremendously.

The weapon raining down on the hooded figure and the gigantic wolf wasn't limited to sword as well this time. There were halberds, lances, spears, arrows, spikes, great swords, needles, shields, and all kinds of armaments.

Each and every one of those armaments were mighty, and if Yun Che could take one of those weapons with him, he could dominate the entire Primal Chaos just like that.

It was scary to think that the hooded figure and the gigantic wolf could last this long under the constant barrage of those armaments.

But after the six-winged golden serpent opened three of its mouths, the gigantic wolf could only last for a while. It could no longer evade the armaments targeting it, and it slumped on the ground powerlessly.

An especially powerful-looking halberd flew erratically and sliced the gigantic wolf to pieces. It was a dark red and beautiful halberd, with its shaft full of intricate carvings of unknown symbols. The blade of the halberd gleamed in its beautiful silver shimmer.

After confirming that the gigantic wolf has truly died, the six-winged golden serpent focus was drawn solely to the hooded figure.

Now that the gigantic wolf couldn't take half of the sword rain's attention, the hooded figure faced the full brunt of the sword rain's might. The hooded figure could no longer evade and deflect them like they used to, so they chose to retreat.

They created the same but smaller purple, eerie portal just like before and jumped through it. The portal's small size made the huge armaments missed their target.

Just before the portal was closed, the hooded figure turned their head to Yun Che and said for the last time.

"■■■■■■■■■■."

The portal was closed as soon as the hooded figure said that.
