Chapter 10: Convincing Him

So the sniper was one of my men. I am ashamed. But I don't get it, I just don't. Two years back I never recall once having any conflict with the Dragon Clan. Never once. Now I knew it wasn't them. However, I needed to find out. To keep Milo and Colton safe.

But how was I going to do that and still protect one of my men? I mean I had an idea but I don't know if Colton would be convinced. Cassian did just try to kill him, still Colton didn't kill him for a reason maybe we're thinking the same way.I mean I was the greatest mafia boss up to two years ago, everyone knew my name but not my face. Ha, I'm actually glad we never met before if not this would be more of a shit show than it already is.

Thomas and I walked back to where the Colton, Milo, and Robertson where last seen but when I arrive there was Milo and Robertson but no Colton. Damn, why doesn't this man have to make my life so difficult. We approached Robertson who smiled liked a fool and cradled Milo who was still asleep. Oh, my precious baby was still asleep by the grace of the Lord.

A tight smile crept upon my face as I just wanted to squish his little chubby cheeks.

" Robertson, where is the Master?" Thomas spoke as if reading my exact thoughts.

" The boss is in his room. He said he need to take care of something." Robertson answered as Thomas nodded already having the idea of what we were going next. " I'm here taking care of boss baby."

I wanted to giggle at the silly name he had given him but alas it was true. Milo was the future of the Dragon Clan, and I intend to keep it that way. Thomas lifted his finger directing me to follow him as we made our way upstairs. Something in my stomach twisted as we passed through the office which windows were still visibly shattered. Less than ten hours ago this could have been a crime scene. Thankfully, it wasn't.

Walking all the way down the hall to the room with double doors. Thomas lifted his hand tapping against the wood asking for permission." Come in." Colton directed from the other side as Thomas turned the knob revealing a bright airy room, not quiet what I had expected. I thought I was about to see Al Pacino up in this. Though it was exactly opposite the walls bright white, complements of navy blue and gold layered throughout. However that was not my main focus of attention when in the middle Colton stood with his unbutton shirt revealing his godly chiseled abs.Puffing a smoke and running his hand through his hand. The out of this world essence radiated too strong, but eyes squinted as a heavenly light appeared. I was a warm in the presence of the omnipotent.

I blinked swaying my eyes from that as I met his stone hard face. Quickly brought me back down to reality. " So, did you find anything?" He questioned, putting out the cigarette.

" Yeah, so he talked." I began as he interrupted me.

" And what did you find." He said eagerly as if I wasn't going to tell him.

" If you would allow me to talk you'll know." I started as he rolled his eyes. Seriously, I'm helping your ass and you're still bothered. I breathed in and out and repeated my mantra.

Do this for Milo.

All for Milo.

Milo is a cute baby boy.

Do it for Milo.

Somehow, some way I proceed, " So he told me he didn't belong to any specific clan, just that he goes to a place, and they tell him who they want to kill."

" Whose they?" He added.

I crossed my arms, asking myself the same question," He doesn't know. They never show their face. Only that they have a bounty and whoever gets the kill. gets paid." I continued as he dilated his nostrils. Clunching his fist as he creased his forehead wincing from the injury.

Those same bloody fist that had thrashed my companion were in pain. Part of me felt like he did that to himself, and the other felt bad. Maybe for him, but more so Milo. Was this what he was doing instead of being with his child?I already knew the answer to the question. Still, he shouldn't look like this instead of Milo. " Let me heal that for you." I offered.

" No, I don't need your help." He refused.

I took his hand, large bruised hand leading him onto the bed, " Thomas can you please get me a first aid kit?" I politely asked as Thomas nodded and left the room.

He scoffed, " I told you, I don't need your help."

Thomas scurried back in with a first aid kit as he handed it over, " Here, Miss Kaira." He spoke as I thanked him.

" Well apparently you do I'm not doing this for you." I retorted as I grabbed a cotton swab and dab against carefully against his knuckles. The red blood dried however bruises were clear as day. I felt his gaze linger on my face. What was I that ugly after two days of no sleep. I know I probably looked like a panda or raccoon. But geez, at least be discreet about it. " I'm doing this for Milo. Milo at least shouldn't see his dad bruised up. No kid likes that."

" You see as if you talk from experience." Colton pointed out as my eyes met his. Experience. Yes, this is my life. Or was. I would see my dad beat up criminals, thugs, many individuals, but I also saw him getting hurt alot. Bruises, cuts in his face, and once I even saw him get shot. I was only four or five, a bit older and I had begun my training but someone had enter the house just like now and the dude actually held me hostage. For the first time, I developed an idea what my father, no who my father was. What my life was going to be like.My father in split rage and worry launched himself at the shooter as the bullet pierced his flesh, red overcame his shirt. In the end he killed the guy, but that was my first trauma. I never fully recovered. Slightly developing PTSD, I had nightmares for years, I would wake up screaming and covered in sweat. To be honest sometimes, I still do. Even though over the last two years it decreased they would still be there. Never fading, like a record on repeat taunting my subconscious.

So yeah, I wouldn't recommend it. And I didn't want Milo to experience that. Not yet. Not ever. " Not really, I just know a kid shouldn't be seeing." I made up some pretext for my reasons.

" You sounded like a worried mother." He noted as I paused nodding my head.

" That's my job, after all." I slightly joked as I wrapped the bandages around his hand as I was taught myself to do multiple times before as I had bruises, broken many times before. Thankfully, I had very few scars. Imagine I would just look like a mummy if I hadn't taken care of myself. " There." I returned his hand as he flexed, stretched, opened, and closed it. Mostly likely pondering at the professional outcome.

" Looks good. At least you know how to do something right." He remarked as I squinted my eyes. Seriously, a thank you could have suffice. Just a thank you. Ass.

I bit my tongue attempting not to start an argue, honestly I had no energy to fight. " You're welcome. Any where else you have pain?" I inquired.

Out of nowhere he took my hand and placed it on his chest. His warm, defined chest. Heart beating fast, irregularly fast. I perked my brow. Why was he doing this? Did his chest hurt? He could just have told me. " Does your chest hurt?" I asked as a smirk appeared on his lips.

I don't get him. Wasn't he in pain? Doesn't he need help? No, he definitely needs help, at least mental. But could I just get an answer out of him. " No, it's fine." He replied finally giving my hand back as the vibrations of his heart lingered in my palms.

I wanted to ask him what that was about. But in the end Colton could do what he wanted without reason. So on to my actually plan, " I have an idea on what we could do with the kid downstairs." I began as he slightly turned his neck.

" Ok, proceed." He gave me permission.

" I was thinking instead of killing that kid or whatever you where going to do to him. That you use him as a double agent." I proposed an idea, the only idea I had to save Cassian's ass from Colton's wrath.

" Double agent?" He repeated creasing his forehead as I nodded.

" Yeah like he work for you, and pretend to work for whoever is "they" is." I air quoted with my fingers as I explained further, " To further delve into who is trying to kill you."

He tilted his head as I peek my eyes up to him and back to the floor. Had I given myself away? Well, I already knew too much, but he didn't know that. I need to be innocent, weak, partly stupid so he wouldn't think I was suspicious and although the next words that came out of my mouth killed my pride, I did it for Cassian. For the lion clan. " You know like double o seven type." I avowed as I internally wanted to hang myself.

Colton chuckled as stood up from the bed walking away somewhere into his closet maybe. Really? He left me just like that. I had just swallowed my pride to sound stupid in front of you and you walk away. OOOO, Colton if I ever were to be the head of the Lions Clan again I would kill you I swear.

I sighed looking over at Thomas who pressed his lips into a thin line, but the red appearing in his cheek appeared he wanted to do otherwise.

" Not a bad idea, Kaira." Colton complimented as he came back in standing right in front of me. I looked up at him towering over my small self. " Might just work." He approved of the idea as my shoulder felt a thousand pounds lift off them. Yes, I was one step closer to protect Milo and Colton. Even if he didn't know it, he was receiving assistance and protection from the Lion Clan. And now I would have to be his baby momma.
