Chapter 3: 3. The Scandal
Roseie, Capital of Galeia Emperor
As soon as the sun peaked through the mountains and into the vast land of the empire, the capital city of Roseie woke up to the most absurd news. A scandal involving one of their dukes. Duke Gafrio of House Leohan, the general of the empire's militia is caught in bed with the eldest daughter of Duke Valrie of House Chivel. His arch-nemesis, also ladies' first choice of "The Duke they prefer to wed."
It doesn't help that as the day went on, the story got more irrational and every person added their own twist to it, and by the time it reached the emperor, the whole city was at his gate and waiting for his explanation. and the king in question was pacing in his throne room and waiting for the two persons that are involved in the scandal.
"Where could those two be in this situation!" shouted the king, which echoed through the room
Upstoknown to the king, a whole different story was taking place in Duke Valrie's house.
"I am done, you can get out of my sight, now," said Valrie as he cleaned Gafrio's wounds. They are in Valrie's bedroom and Gafrio is stretched out on the bed while Valrie is attending to him.
"Could you be nicer, I was almost at my death bed." Gafrio looked back grinning
" get out Gafrio before I kick you out to the streets. I haven't forgiven you coming through my daughter's bed-chamber-" Valrie was cut off by Gafrio's sudden movement
"So, I was supposed to know you moved rooms in your own house, while I was in the middle of a war. Which you never bothered to get in touch." Gafrio stepped forward
"I am a busy person if you haven't noticed." Valrie stepped back.
Both men were in their forties, but none of them looked like it. They were both over six feet and regularly practiced their sword every day at dawn. A habit they picked up during their school years at the military academy. So they were both close in size physically, however one was more daring than the other. But as Valrie puts it "Gafrio is not daring, but he never thinks about the consequences of whatever he is about to do."
"You're flustered." grinned Gafrio, and took in Valrie's appearance at once, " Beautiful." The war took too long for his liking.
"Gafrio, don't!" Valrie pushed back Gafrio
"don't I dare what Val? " Gafrio stepped close, so close to the point he could feel Valrie's body heat
Valrie closed his eyes, and signed "It's about damn time you grew up and stopped this, Gafrio. It's about damn time you found yourself a woman." and with that Valrie left him standing there alone. Thus, for the second time in his life, he had the same look he had when he was nine -although he figured it out later in his life- the first time Valrie broke his heart.
