Chapter 11: Hero name

The holidays flew by and we´re back in school.

Some people recognized me when I went to buy groceries. I hope I won´t get any more attention. They weren´t intrusive, but I´d rather shop in peace.

Homeroom started and Aizawa walked in.

"Morning."

"Good Morning!"

"We´ll be having special hero informatics class today."

I don´t even know what that is.

"You´ll be coming up with your hero names."

The whole class cheers in excitement. It´s pretty thrilling to choose your own hero name. It´s not like I will be needing one, though. It´s more of a formality as I understand it.

"This is related to the pro hero draft picks I mentioned the other day. The draft begins in earnest in the second and third years after students gained some experience and could actually help the heroes. In other words for them to extend the offers to first years like you shows their interest in your potential. These offers are often canceled if you don´t fulfill their expectations. I´ll show you the totals for those with offers."

"For those who didn´t get any offers, you´ll have to choose from a list we prepared for you. The hero names are temporary, but..."

Midnight comes through the door. "Take it seriously. A lot of hero names used by students become recognized by society and stay as your pro hero names."

"Midnight, here, will be making sure your names are okay. I am not good with stuff like that." Aizawa then wraps himself in his sleeping bag and falls asleep.

Midnight hands us a small tablet to write our hero names on it. I personally never thought about this kind of thing, because I didn´t find it important.

After 10 minutes Midnight says. "Okay, let´s start presenting names starting with those that are ready."

Aoyama confidently steps in front of the whole class and announces his hero name. "Shining Hero: I can not stop twinkling!"

That guy surely went to private middle school or he´d be bullied. What astonishes me is that Midnight approves of the name.

"It´ll be better if you shorten it to Can´t stop twinkling."

No, it´s still a horrible hero name.

Mina then runs excitedly to announce her name.

"Hero name: Alien Queen!" Midnight immediately rejects her idea.

Why is this not acceptable and a sentence is? What the hell is wrong with people?

"May I go next?" says Asui. "I´ve had this in mind since middle school. Rainy season hero: Froppy."

"That´s so cute!" says Midnight.

Asui eased the tense atmosphere in the room.

Then came Kirishima and confidently said. "Sturdy Hero: Red Riot!"

Kaminari bumped into me and said. "I have no clue, man. What hero name should I pick?"

"How about thunderstruck?"

"Yeah, I´ll go with something like that."

"That was the first thing I thought of but ok."

I came up in front of the class. "Hero name: The Champion"

I don´t have a great naming sense. I thought about some songs and that was the best name I could think of.

"Great! Next!"

Jiro chose to use her quirk name. Kaminari went with Thunderbolt.

The class erupted in laughter when Bakugo chose King Explosion Murder.

We all decided on our names and Midnight woke Aizawa up.

"Now let´s get to the internships. They will last for a week. Those who have offers from pros will be given their lists as for the others we have 40 agencies from which you can choose. The agencies have different locations and specialties so think it through. Turn in your choices before the weekend."

I looked through my list. It´s sorted the same way as the hero rankings. On the bottom, there are typically underground heroes, who don´t want their names and powers to be known.

At lunchtime, I go to the teacher´s lounge to turn in my choice.

"Are you sure? You have 2 more days to think about it if you want."

"I´m sure, I´d overthink it."

The hero I chose is called Fel. I did a quick google search about the heroes on the bottom. The thing that caught my attention is that there is no information about Fel, except the location of the agency. No names, no pictures, no mission reports, nothing.

That´s not very common. If you look up Eraser Head for example there is a bunch of articles, pictures, and even videos of Aizawa. I think a true underground hero should have their identity secret. My appearances at U.A. will surely be quickly forgotten so It shouldn´t be hard to have my privacy.
