Chapter 29: Chapter 029

Alex believed he did very well in this exam. He was confident he got most of if not all one mark questions right. And his descriptive answers in the theoretical and practical segments were written well.

It was good to have been a Pokemon nerd in his previous life and have a photographic memory in this one.

He imagined himself getting ranked #1 in the third round and being awed.

"Judging by the grin on your face, I take it you did well?" asked Joseph.

"Very. I was asked about Nidoking and Poliwag in the second round. What about you?" asked Alex.

"Venomoth and Pidgey. Thankfully, I think I did well overall as well" replied Joseph.

The four of them were on their way home, this time walking. Niya informed them that it would take around 30 minutes to walk to Daffodil Grove. She had done well on this round too according to her. The devastated expression on Max's face discouraged Alex from trying to find out how he did.

"Anything interesting happen during your test? The Venomoth did not like me one bit. It kept turning around to face away from me. The examiner called a Slowbro to restrain it so that I could examine it properly" said Joseph.

"A cute little Poliwag jumped right into my arms. It wanted to come with me afterwards I think. The examiner forcibly recalled it. I shudder to think what it must have experienced to jump at the chance to leave with a stranger" said Alex.

Niya did not seem to want to participate in their conversation, and Max looked too depressed. Hence, Joseph and Alex talked about the questions in the third round and where they were going to apply in the fourth round.

They soon reached Daffodil Grove.

"We are back!" yelled Jospeh as walked into the building.

Roger and Archie were sitting in the front, as if they were waiting for us.

"Welcome back! How did you do?" asked Roger.

"I and Alex did great! We are sure to pass!" said Joseph excitedly.

"Fine" said Niya. Max did not answer, but went inside with slouched shoulders.

"Ah! It seems Max did badly. I will talk to him" said Archie.

"Alright. It's noon now. We can either have lunch here and then go back, or we can go back and have our lunch at Cherry Grove. What would you prefer?" asked Roger?

"Lunch here. I am starving. Also, I don't like the idea of riding home in the hot sun" said Alex. Joseph nodded.

"Alright then. You can go back to the room that you slept in yesterday and have a short nap. I will call you when it is time for lunch" said Roger.

"Uncle Roger, can we have your phone? We want to check on the papers available for the 4th round" said Alex.

Roger nodded and handed Alex his phone.

At the beginning of March, organisations approved by the Pokemon Alliance looking for talent would upload their offers and requirements on the PIT website. Anyone could look, but only those who passed the third round could apply. Only around 200 people attempted this every year. The remaining 300 odd people who passed the round would usually have connections or offers that could get them the same result without having to go through the two special rounds.

The 4th round was different from the previous three rounds, in the sense that you wouldn't have to go to the test center to give the test. After you have passed the third round, you can apply for two to five organisations after reading their requirements and offers, on the PIT website.

The specialised papers by those organisations would be sent to you by mail by the PIT head office. You would have to fill the test by hand, and mail it back to the PIT head office. They would then send it to the organisation that set the test, who would evaluate you.

If they were impressed, they would send you an invitation to visit their headquarters, where you would be interviewed or further tested, which would be the fifth round. Due to this, it was pointless to cheat on the fourth round, as it would accomplish nothing other than lower your reputation when you were exposed in the fifth round. Plus, there was no score for these two rounds. Just internal evaluation by the organisations. Alex and Joseph did not look at the website for offers until now as they were instead preparing for the test.

Now that they had passed it, it was time to look at what they would do next.
