Chapter 84: Chapter 082
"So what level do Pokemon do you have? asked Madison.
A mid Novice level Pokemon and an early Veteran level Pokemon" said Alex.
"All right. Mid Novice first" said Alex.
They both stood across the makeshift battlefield, and simultaneously tossed their Pokeball.
"Go Lapras!" said Alex.
"Go Marill" said Madison, as she sent out a level 23 Marill.
Lapras, use Water Gun" said Alex, deciding to send a probing move as Madison did not make one.
"Marill! Defence Curl!" said Madison.
"Lapras, now use Mist!" said Alex.
"Now use Rollout!" yelled Madison
"This is bad. Defence Curl + Rollout = Massive damage" thought Alex worriedly. He now realised the importance of TMs. Lapras currently knew no offensive move other than Water Gun and Ancient Power.
"Lapras, use Ancient Power to block its path" said Alex.
Laura's tried to block Marill with rocks, but Marill avoided it and slammed into Lapras.
Lapras, retreat into the Mist and use Sing" said Alex.
Lapras went into the Mist it created, and an ethereal singing could be heard. The rollout was interrupted, as Marill started feeling dizzy, but it was not asleep yet.
"Now, Lapras, slide across the ice and slam into it. Then use Ancient Power!" said Alex.
Lapras rushed towards Marill, but Marill shook off its dizziness by then.
"Marill, Play Rough" said Madison.
Marill charged at Lapras covering itself with energy and landed a few hits. Lapras seemed to be only a little hurt.
"Use Water Gun" said Alex
"Aqua Tail" yelled Madison.
Marill sliced apart the Water Gun and landed a hit. Lapras was hurt, but it knocked Marill up into the air.
"Ancient Power" said Alex.
A few rocks were controlled by Lapras as it hurled them up at Marill.
"Use Water Gun against those rocks to dodge, then use Rollout" yelled Madison.
Marill used Water Gun to avoid the rocks and set up its Rollout. Alex tried to use Water Gun, Ancient Power, and Sing to counter it, but he failed, and Lapras fainted after a few hits.
"You were wonderful Lapras. Return" said Alex as he took Lapras into his Pokeball.
Madison returned Marill and took out another Pokeball. Alex also took out Magnemite's Pokeball.
"Go Magnemite" said Alex.
"Go Snover" said Madison as she sent out a level 33 Snover.
"Snover! Powder Snow!" said Madison.
"Magnemite, Gyro Ball, then fire Thunderbolt" yelled Alex.
Magnemite defected the Powder Snow with Gyro Ball and fired back a Thunderbolt. Not expecting it, Snover was hit, but it did not fall.
"Giga Drain" yelled Madison.
Snover sent out spots of green flickering lights that absorbed energy from Magnemite and returned back to it, and seemed to partly recover from the direct hit earlier.
"Magnemite! Use Electroball" yelled Alex.
"Protect" yelled Madison, after which Snover immediately blocked the incoming Electroball with a hazy green screen in front of it.
"Use Thunder Wave" yelled Alex.
Magnemite sent a yellow pulsing surge of electricity that paralyzed Snover.
"Snover! Rest!" yelled Madison.
Snover plopped down on to the ground and went to sleep, slowly recovering its health and making the paralysis moot.
Rest wouldn't cure any other status condition here, as two conditions of one sleep and another like paralysis, burn, frozen, and poisoned could exist simultaneously, all five together if needed.
But abilities that make use of status conditions like Facade or the ability Guts only stack once.
Rest ismply relaxes the muscles using Psychic type energy for a while to relieve basic symptoms of other status conditions and the Pokemon's own injuries to some extent. The Pokemon would most likely fall asleep, but if it is skilled enough it can use rest, enjoy the positive effects of the move, and still remain awake.
Snover was not at that stage yet. It truly fell asleep and was a sitting duck for the next few attacks. Alex thought it could tank two hits from Magnemite at its current strength left. But he had to hurry, before Snover woke up.
Just as he was about to attack, he remembered a move Snover could learn, that could be used now. It wouldn't di much damage, but it could trigger the Analytic ability, and allow a potential K. O.
Sure enough, Madison said, "Snover! Snore"
The Normal type attack hit Magnemite, barely doing any damage to the Steel type Pokemon. But with Anaytic triggered, Alex decided to finish the battle.
"Magnemite! Use Flash Cannon! Full Power!" yelled Alex.
Magnemite started gathering Steel type energy before unleasing the powerful Steel Type special attack.
Madison could only watch helpless as her sleeping Snover was hit with the Flash Cannon.
After the battlefield cleared, Snover was indeed unable to battle.
Madison and Alex then recalled their Pokemon.
" So. About that Ice Rock you mentioned...." said Alex.
