Chapter 89: Chapter 087
Alex was finally done with Slyveon research. He had spent the first week in front of the computer, doing 'research.' He then spent the 2 weeks doing basic data collection and experiments. In the week after that, he did the actual evolution of one Eevee after the other into Sylveon. With him now having mastered the exact method, he was prepared to submit the report regarding it to Professor Oak.
But before that, he had a decision to make. Would he discover traits of the Fairy type in Sylveon himself or would he let Professor Oak do it? Alex thought for very little time before he decided to do it himself. He had probably messed up the time line by merely discovering the Slyveon, so he might as well as go all the way.
So Alex made a separate set if experiments on Syleveon, including exposing it to a Dragon type move, a Steel type move, and a Poison type move, all in moderation of course. He then decided to hand the completed research to the Professor.
"An unknown type huh?" said Professor Oak, sounding surprised.
"That is just my theory Professor. As you can see, Syleveon is weak to Poison and Steel type attacks, and resist Bug, Fighting and Dark type attacks. It is completely immune to Dargon type attacks. Since this type matchup is unique, coupled with the fact that it does not boost the power of Swift as normal types do, I think it is a 18th undiscovered type. I can also body hypothesise all the Pokemon that have the so called 'Dragon Immunity' like Clefairy, Jigglypuff, and Mr. Mime all have this type" said Alex.
"Sylveon. An evolution of Eevee. Not of the know 17 types but a new one. Maybe this can help his resarch and prove to those that oppose his ideas that it makes sense" mumbled the Professor.
Alex was confused. It seemed like the Professor knew someone who was conducting research on an unknown type, but he was facing resistance. The Professor seemed to think Sylveon could help against the resistant. Alex thought it may be Professor Sycamore, but he wasn't sure.
"I will talk with him and work something out. Don't share this information with anyone for now. I will let you know what is happening. For now, you can take a break. Spend some time with your Pokemon and exploring the outer parts of the forests in Pallet Town" said Professor Oak.
Alex though it was a great idea. He could go on a trip with his Pokemon for a couple if weeks, and get them and himself used to camping and travelling.
"Professor, Can I take Beldum with me too?" asked Alex.
"Sure. You can take its Pokeball from storage. But don't let it battle. You should know that Beldum still has a few years before it is ready for that" said Professor Oak.
Alex nodded, and took his leave. He decided to first prepare everything he might need for a couple of weeks trip, and then go pick up his Pokemon.
"Beldum! I am going on a trip for a couple of weeks. Do you want to join me?" asked Alex.
Beldum flew around his head as usual, and finally touched his head lightly.
Alex hear a small "Yes" sounding in his mind.
Akex was surprised, both because this was the first word Beldum has used other than 'Why?' which he assumed was 'Why can't I communicate with you with Psychic energy?', and because Beldum actually managed to penetrate his Dark power and communicate with him. His mental strength was much stronger than back when he first met Beldum, and it was hard enough for it to communicate one word back then.
Professor Oak gave him a few methods to control and train his Dark powers. They weren't the best, as Dark were secretive, and and wouldn't just hand over their methods to others, even a rich and generous man like Professor Oak. This was because their usage of Dark powers was their trump card in the infiltaration or undercover missions they would go on. The spread of Dark powers's usage would compromise them, as others would be more alert to the known sugars of Dark powers. But the few methods that the Professor did have helped Alex train and control his powers to some extent. He could now deactivate the Dark powers for a short amount of time, should the situation raise, and block a degree of invasion from even strong Psychic type Pokemon like the Professor's Alakazam.
"Beldum must be improving its Psychic powers just like I am improving my Dark powers" thought Alex. He deactivated his Dark powers and praised Beldum as communicated with it.
The next morning, Alex woke up early, and prepared to go on this camping trip. He had 5 Pokeballs strapped to his waist. They were the Pokeballs of Charmeleon, Magnemite, Beldum, Lapras, and Nidoking, which decided it wanted to come with him for some reason.
