Chapter 6: Graduation.

I and Roxy were riding on a horse to go outside to do the Graduation ceremony.

According to Roxy, she's going to cast a Saint-tier Water spell. It's strong to cover the entire village and flood it over.

Honestly I feel that such spell is OP.

And that's only a Saint-tier? What about King, Emperor, and God?

I remember the 1st Generation Water God is also a Water God-tier Magic, having a God rank in both sword expertise and magical competence made for an obscenely powerful warrior. He froze the Ocean and killed the Water Dragon King that terrorized the Kingdom to marry the princess.

Rudeus: "Roxy, what do they harvest from these fields?"

Roxy: "It's mostly Asuran wheat, which is used to make bread. Probably some Vatirus flowers and some vegetables as well. In the capital, Vatirus flowers are processed into perfume. The rest is the sort of stuff you're used to seeing on your table at meals."

I read these things in the Botanical Encyclopedia Mom bought me.

These flowers are not only used for food and perfume. It could also be used as a main ingredient for an Aphrodisiac.

Knowing about Dad and Mom's sex life, I somehow knew why they are so active. It's because of these flowers.

According to Roxy, we lived in Buena Village, which was located in the Fittoa Region, in the northeastern part of the Asura Kingdom.

At present, there were over thirty households here, working the farmland. My Dad was a knight who had been deployed to the village. His job was to watch over the townsfolk to ensure they were carrying out their work properly, adjudicate any disputes, and protect the village from monster attacks. In short, he was basically a publicly sanctioned bodyguard.

That being said, the young men in the village also took turns guarding it, so Paul spent most of his afternoons at home after he made his morning rounds. Ours was a pretty peaceful village, leaving him with little work to do.

An hour or so of riding on the horse...

Soon, the fields of wheat were completely gone, leaving us to travel through empty grassland.

Roxy tied the horse's reins on the tree on top of a hill.

Roxy: "I'm going to cast the Water Saint-tier attack spell Cumulonimbus. It creates thunder, and causes torrential rain to come down in a large area."

Rudeus: "All right."

Roxy: "Please follow what I do and attempt to cast the spell yourself. For demonstration purposes, I'm going to dismiss the spell after a minute. If you can keep the rain falling for... at least one hour, let's say, I'll consider that a pass."

Rudeus: "One hour?"

Oh? This might be a good chance. I could test how much Magic Power I have. It's been years since I can see the bottom.

She chanted steadily, slowly, and purposefully. It took her just over a minute to complete her incantation.

A moment later, our surroundings grew dark. For several seconds, there was nothing—then, a pelting rain began to fall. A terrific wind roared, accompanied by black clouds that flickered with lightning. Amidst the pouring sheets of rain, the sky began to rumble, and purple light shot through the clouds. With each new flash, the lightning increased in power. It was almost as if the light itself was taking on a palpable weight, growing with a swell and ready to come right down...

Rudeus: "Holy sh*t!"

I cursed in English, a foreign language to this world.

The lightning struck the tree next to us. My eardrums rang, and my vision went painfully white. I think my brain cells got blank for a moment.

Thankfully I have reflexively strengthened my Borg as it protected me, Roxy, and the horse from the lightning.

Roxy stopped channeling her Mana into the sky and the thick clouds dispersed.

We looked at each other in awkward silence...

Roxy seems to give me a thankful gaze. She didn't know what Magic I just used, but it really saved her butt.

Caravaggio was Dad's mount. And he loved it like a family. Honestly I'm already wondering wether he loved me more than the horse.

Roxy would be in trouble if something bad happened to it. Thankfully my Mana Sense detected an incoming danger, that was damn close...

Roxy: "Ahem, Rudy. Go ahead and give it a try. I'll be sure to keep Caravaggio safe."

The horse seems frightened, ready to escape at any moment, but Roxy blocked it with her tiny body. Well she's not an A-rank Adventurer for nothing, stopping a horse should be a basic skill.

Roxy muttered and incantation and she erected a Earth Magic spell called [Earth Fortress]. Both of them are engulfed in a sturdy Earth wall and shaped into a dome.

All right. It was my time to do this. I was gonna be so amazing that it'd blow Roxy's mind.

I took a deep breath and starting to recall the incantations of the spell earlier.

I could have done without it, but it's better to be safe and use it. It's a Saint rank Magic after all, a whole another league of Magic that could cause natural calamity. If I accidentally lose control of it and made it stronger like the Treant incident a few years ago, it would be a catastrophe.

Rudeus: "Oh, spirits of the magnificent waters, I beseech the Prince of Thunder! Grant me my wish, bless me with thy savagery, and reveal to this insignificant servant a glimpse of thy power! Let fear strike the heart of man as thy divine hammer strikes its anvil and cover the land with water! Come, oh rain, and wash everything away in thy flood of destruction– Cumulonimbus!"

I got the words out in a single breath, and the clouds began to billow and swell. In addition to conjuring thick clouds into the sky, you also need to mix them into complex patterns to make them into thunderclouds as it pours down a torrential downpour.

If I stop pouring Mana into it, the clouds will disperse and I will fail the test.

That's so troublesome...

No, a Mage should be creative. Summoning a Cumulonimbus clouds is not the end goal.

If I remember it right, to create a typhoon; A typhoon forms when winds blow into areas of the ocean where the water is warm. These winds collect moisture and rise, while colder air moves in below. This creates pressure, which causes the winds to move very quickly. The winds rotate, or spin, around a center called an eye. The more warm air and moisture there is, the more intense the winds. In order for a storm to be a typhoon, wind speeds have to reach at least 74 miles per hour. Once a storm becomes a typhoon, wind speed also determines the category of the storm. A category one storm is the lowest level, with winds blowing from 74 to 95 miles per hour. The highest and most destructive storms are in category five, with wind speeds reaching 157 miles per hour or even higher.

I'm surprised I still remember this things. As expected of my genius self...

For now, I should set the configurations according to what I remember. Wind speed, moisture, temperature, and etc...

BOOM!

And I manage to recreate the Magic spell. I set an anchor for it so that it doesn't go anywher causing disaster and collateral damages. It's like having a string on a kite, controlling it.

I returned to the Earth dome to seek shelter. I also got wet, and started drying myself using Fire Magic.

Roxy sat against one side of the dome, the horse's reins clutched in her hands. Upon seeing me, she gave a little nod.

Roxy: "This dome will disappear in about an hour, so we'll be fine, assuming it doesn't go away before then."

Rudeus: "Okay."

Roxy: "Don't worry. Caravaggio will be fine."

Rudeus: "Okay."

Roxy: "Well, if everything's 'okay' then get back out there. You need to control those thunderclouds for an hour, remember."

Huh?

Rudeus: "Control them?"

Roxy: "Hmm? Well, yes. What's so strange about that?"

Rudeus: "Just... I need to control them?"

Roxy:" Of course. This is a Water Saint-tier magic spell, and if you don't keep your spell fueled with magic, your clouds are going to dissipate."

Rudeus: "But I already took steps to make sure they wouldn't. I recreated it and anchored it on this place to make sure they won't go anywhere too."

Roxy: "Huh? Oh!"

Roxy began rushing out of the dome as if she'd suddenly realized something. At this, the dome began to crumble.

Hey now, remember to control your magic or you'll bury the horse alive. You're so clumsy, perverted genius little girl.

Roxy: "Gasp!"

She looked into the sky, astonished. It must be unheard off that a Magic spell could just be recreated like that.

It took all of my Magic Power and I can feel it drain from me. My Mana Veins, the pathway of Mana inside my body, keeps channeling out Mana draining my Mana Capacity. With this when I recover, my Magic Power will grow more stronger.

It must be the first time Roxy had seen this kind of spell. Or maybe just the Typhoons in this world is just non-existent.

Roxy: "I see! You created a diagonal whirlwind in order to push the clouds up!"

The clouds are still going on through the momentum seemingly endless and could exist for a long time.

Not bad, if I said so myself.

Roxy: "Rudy, you pass."

Rudeus: "Huh? But it hasn't been an hour yet."

Roxy: "There's no need. If you can do that, you're more than competent enough. Now then, can you make it go away?"

Rudeus: "Er, sure. It'll take a little while, though."

I forcefully stopped the whirlwind and create an explosion in the eye of the storm. The Eye is what stabilize the entire Magic spell, just destroy it and viola.

Roxy: "Congratulations. You are now a Water Saint."

She looked stunning, her hand brushing aside her wet bangs, an all-too-rare grin on her face.

With that smile, I can feel my heart skipped a beat.
