Chapter 19: The Finishing Act

"Well... this isn't what I expected." Dante said as he looked downwards to see a sword come out of his stomach and claws piercing through his chest. Blood began seeping through his wounds. He was attacked by Baek and Cha.

Though Dante seemed nonchalant about it, he was actually surprised. Not by the fact that they managed to sneak up on him but how they recovered from those attacks. He made sure that they would of been deadly enough to knock them off the fight so how was it possible that they were here unharmed.

What's more was the fact that their attacks actually managed to go through him. Their power shouldn't be that strong. Having both of them have a power boost and heal themselves at the same time. Something was fishy.

Dante swung Sparda in a circle making both Baek and Cha retreat. He felt heat behind him and turned around. Choi launched an explosion of fire at him making the building they were standing on fall apart.

Dante jumped out of the fire and crashed on the ground. Looking in front of him, he saw the 5 S-rank hunters with their weapons in hand glaring at him with intent to fight. Looking at Ma Dongwook, the wound on his head was gone as well.

Seeing this, Dante began feeling more and more suspicious. 'I knew it, something's off. Even the tank over here has no injuries, I'm sure I hit him in the head with my fist and lightning. There's no way that they could heal themselves as I'm sure that they don't have a healing skill. There's also no such thing as a healing potion in this world. So-'

Before he could finish his thoughts, fire and arrows arrived at him. He blocked the attacks but with his vision impaired, he was now open. The tank and tiger charged at him.

Dante swung Sparda downwards at Ma and when it landed, the shield broke apart completely. He pulled back his blade as Baek was nearing but it was stuck. He looked over to see Dongwook holding the sword in his arms.

Baek attacked him with his claws but Dante dodged it and instead locked him in his arms. With his strength, Dante twisted his arm and then electrified him with lightning making him scream in pain.

Though he was rudely interrupted as a dancer had arrived, swinging her sword in such a fast pace that one would have trouble keeping up. Unfortunately for her, Dante deflected all sword strikes with his bare hands.

But while doing so, he began noticing something. Something amiss. His expression turned completely serious, it looked like he didn't want to mess around anymore. Dante grabbed the blade of Cha Hae-In's sword and broke it in half with his knee.

Before she could even react to her sword being broken, Dante flipped the broken blade and stabbed it in her chest. She looked down in shock as he plunged the blade even deeper in the wounds making her bleed more.

"Cha Hae-In!" Choi Jong-In screamed out.

Dante ignored him and kicked her away. 'If I'm right, then it should soon be happening.' He thought just as he was blasted from both sides. Choi and Lim shot their attacks at him.

Inside the constant barrage of attacks, Dante was surrounded by an electric type of barrier surrounding him and blocking the attacks. Still Dante ignored their attacks and continued watching Cha Hae-In.

Dante continued watching as if he was waiting for something to happen. That something soon came to be as Cha was surrounded in a green light. The moment Dante saw this, he jumped out of the bubble he made and the bombing at him.

Lim spotted him when he jumped out. "He's outside now!"

Baek now had his arm back and he looked uninjured and Dongwook came to intercept him. "Looks like I'll need to teach another pooch manners." Dante snickered. He ran and grabbed Sparda that was still stabbed to the ground.

With Sparda, he channeled the lightning and swung it. Baek with his instincts managed to dodge it but Dongwook wasn't that fast and was hit knocking him unconscious instantly. The strike continued even after hitting him and went towards Choi and Lim.

They managed to dodge it as they were far but then Dante threw Sparda. It spun at a fast pace and hit Choi dead on sending him flying away until he crashed into a broken building.

Lim looked back to see Choi nailed to a wall by the giant blade.

He turned around enraged and shot arrows at Dante but he dodged them and was now in front of Baek. Baek swung his claws but Dante jumped and dodged it. He grabbed Baek's head and kneed him to the face.

Lim's arrows that were shot suddenly turned around and came back around targeting Dante. Unfortunately for him, Dante grabbed both arrows shot at him and stabbed Baek in the eye and shoulder with them.

*AAAHH!*

"Despite being lazy, you've been the most annoying one here." Dante dashed grabbing him by the face and slamming him to the ground. He wasn't done though as he dragged him through the group and threw him off at Cha who just recovered.

She caught Lim and glared furiously at him but he ignored her. "I know where you are now. You're not that great in stealth when I know you're here." Dante chuckled.

Dante put out his arm and clench his hands but it seemed like he couldn't fully close his hand. As if there was something in his hands. He could hear sounds of someone gasping for air. "It was fun playing hide and seek with you but I think this is enough, don't you think?"

A figure suddenly appeared out of thin air in Dante's hand. He was a thin young man with spiky black hair, pale skin, and black eyes. He wore a black coat over a white shirt and black slacks.

His name was Byung-Gyu and he was the sole S-rank healer of South Korea. Dante had heard that he retired so he hadn't put much attention to this specific person but it seems that despite being retired, he put his life on the line as he couldn't watch his comrades getting killed.

'How noble.' Dante snickered in his thoughts. He held him by the throat as Byung tried to get out of Dante's grip with no result.

*GAH!* Byung coughed up blood. His eyes and nose were starting to bleed.

This man had been a pain for him. The team he had originally fought was beaten by him so easily but because of this man, he had lost much more time and even got injured because he boosted his friends powers.

"WAIT!" Dante turned around and saw Baek Yoonho still with an arrow in his eye crawling towards him with one arm since his other one was stabbed through. "Don't kill him! He's not even a hunter anymore."

Dante looked at him with no remorse. "And you think I care." He ignored the screams and pleas. His hand ignited with lightning as he prepared to pierce his heart.

Suddenly, he turned around. Something appeared in his circle of instincts. "You people really know to stop me right before killing your teammates." Dante commented with annoyance clear in his voice.

A moment ago in a black limousine at Seoul, Go Gunhee was watching the news from his car. The view was from the helicopter and it zoomed in the fight. "The monster has wiped out half the S-rank in an instant!" The commentor screamed in surprise.

"The only ones left is the 'Ultimate Soldier' and the 'Dawn of Night'! But their attacks seemed ineffective towards this monster. Is this the end of South Korea's greatest hunters?!"

{Dawn of Night is basically a title I gave Lim Tae-Gyu.}

Gunhee watched everything in his car that was heading towards their location. He couldn't calm down as he saw the fight. Seconds felt like hours as his eyes couldn't take off the screen.

But just then, Lim Tae-Gyu threw an attack so large that it affected the cameras and helicopter rendering them useless. Gunhee was in the dark and he didn't know what was happening.

"Sir, what should we do?" Woo Jinchul, his driver, asked him.

Gunhee eyes glowed yellow. "Let's get out of the car, bring me to the fight then you can go and get to safety."

Jinchul nodded. "Of course, chairman."

Back at the battlefield, two people faced off against each other. A monster and a human. To the outside world, this man was the only one who could stop the rampage caused by this single monster.

"So another arrives, you people just love interrupting me, don't you." Dante said while still chocking Byung.

"I don't have any words to exchange with you." It was Go Gunhee the Chairman who arrived at the battlefield. He took off his black suit and threw it. Gunhee was now wearing a white shirt showing his big build. Yellow mana surrounded his body and eyes.

Despite being an old man, the power he was emitting was more than any of the hunters present. Even Dante was surprised as his eyes widened, but not because of how strong he was. But because of something else. There was something odd about this old man.

'I didn't notice this but his powers aren't his own. I can tell his body is breaking down and is about to break. The power hasn't fully integrated into his body. No, it's more like it can't. There's just too much of it for a human to hold.' Dante thought. With his senses, he could tell that something was wrong.

A foreign power was enveloping this man and he knew exactly who it was. With Baran's memories, comparing their power and analyzing them. Dante had one conclusion.

The Rulers.

They were already here in this world but despite that, he could tell that he wasn't being possessed by a Ruler. Just merely borrowing power from one of them.

Dante was just here to gain achievements. So without looking back, he dropped Byung and walked away leaving the battlefield. Gunhee saw him turning his back to him and was about to attack but-

[#*!&24)@!$&6!)%@*4.] The monster he was about to fight spoke in monster tongue and walked off.

The Chairman who heard this widened his eyes in surprise. The news who watched this were waiting in anticipation. They had never witnessed his powers and wanted him to kill the monster. But Gunhee didn't attack, he went and helped the hunters that were injured.

Everyone was surprised that the monster that terrorized them ran away after seeing Gunhee. Though baffled, everyone let out a huge sigh of relief. While others from foreign countries let out their disappointment to not see the fight.

While this was going on, Dante entered a destroyed building. He saw the sword Sparda nailed the fire mage to the wall making him stuck. He was also unconscious and wasn't moving.

He walked towards him and pulled out the sword making the body fall to the ground. "I would of loved to kill you but I've got some business with your boss. What a shame."

Dante left the building and turned back to see Go Gunhee helping everyone. "Yeah. Truly a shame."
