Chapter 4: Chapter 3 Family...

RB Chapter 3 Family...

Elec's hair literally stood on end upon seeing the woman.

She was his mother, Lisa Kyenyanja. For as long as he could remember, she had never smiled. She was basically strict, but he didn't give a damn as after all, she came from a lesser clan and he was more inclined towards his father's clan.

Though that didn't stop him from developing a fear of the woman.

She had shiny shoulder length black hair and was as tall as his father.

If she stood next to Baguma, people who met them for the first time would mistake her for his daughter.

Her genes incorporated genes of a normal fish known as the tilapia which inhabited the waters of lake Victoria south of the city. It was outside the bounds of the city.

Though people didn't dare to go near any water sources after the biopocalypse.

When humans had been infected by the super cell, they started having hunger pangs, their cells started yearning for something. They then discovered that they subsided when came into contact with plant or animal DNA. Their cells incorporated the absorbed genes into their genetic sequencies and forced them into dormancy. When someone wants to transform into said living thing, they needed ATP, or else their cells would be devoured instead.

For example the Masanyalaze clan was formed due to Baguma and his, then relatives incorporating electric eel DNA into their genes.

Though you can keep adding more genes from other organisms of your choice to advance your evolutionary path. Your children can't inherit any of your other additions, they only inherit the traits of the first organism you incorporated.

Elec, and the clone were in the same situation even though the clone's cells were stronger.

"Leave the two boys and go back to your work!" Lisa ordered as she looked into Baguma's eyes.

They didn't get along ever since he decided to make a clone of their child.

"Don't get too attached, ultimately its not your child!" Baguma said calmly as the boys exited the elevator leaving Baguma and Mr. Lee inside.

The doors closed, leaving Elec arrogantly glaring at Lisa. The clone was simply looking around curiously, but it was within striking distance should anything try to attack the master.

The elevator had dropped them directly onto the top of the skyscraper. A house could be seen directly behind Lisa. The gloomy clouds had receded and the afternoon sun was illuminating the trio.

"Elec! Go and wash up!" She ordered.

"Yes, madam!" He answered. Even though he was scared, he knew that his mother couldn't do anything to him as his father would retaliate.

His father never loved his mother and the reason he married her was so that he could produce an heir with as little mutations as possible. That's why he chose someone with fish DNA.

Sometimes, if the father and mother have different organisms as their merged genes, mutations can occur in their children. The traits of both the parent's genes fight to be inherited leading to mutations.

Elec headed towards the house with the clone following behind.

As Lisa followed the two, she looked at the clone with traces of love in her eyes.

Even though it wasn't in her womb, motherly love still formed in her heart when she looked at it. It was a exact replica of her son but, those pure and curious eyes attracted her gaze.

'I regret ever accepting to marry the man. He even made Elec take his side. I will make sure that this child is never sacrificed for the clan.' She resolved herself as her gaze rested on the clone.

Hmph...that woman thinks she is a big shot, father only keeps her here for appearances. If she ever crosses the line...father can find a new one.' Elec thought as water cascaded down his dark skin.

'Won't Leah fall in love with this thing once I go with it to school, no...no...Leah has high standards, it won't happen...but I will need to make it clear to her on Monday that this clone is going to be killed in the near future.'

What Elec didn't know, was that since his genes were cloned, the clone could hear his thoughts through electromagnet waves. It was the first ability it had and it was unknown to them. The ability only worked one way, in other words, it transmitted Elec's thoughts to the clone but the vice versa didn't happen. And it only worked between them, probably since they were technically twins. Though that didn't change anything as the clone was completely loyal to Elec

Around 7:55pm, Elec dressed in a shirt and a pair of slacks exited his room with the clone in tow. He had been playing virtual reality games in a paid while the clone silently guarded him.

The reason why he came out was because by 8:00pm, Lisa would have finished preparing dinner, and if he wasn't at the table by then, he would have to wait until breakfast the next day to have a meal.

Even though he had higher status than her, he had to superficially obey her since she was his mother.

The dinner table was rectangular. Lisa and Baguma were seated on one side, while Elec and the clone were seated in the other.

Lisa was occupying Baguma's right and the clone was opposite her while Elec sat opposite his father as he always did.

"Why is the clone seating at the same table as us? It should be treated as a servant." Baguma asked as he directed a drowning glance towards Lisa.

Even though Baguma didn't love his wife, he was always home for dinner, it was the only time the whole family gathered. Mostly, the reason he came home was to be with his son and shower him with fatherly love.

"His name is going to be Eric, put that on his documents which you will send to his school." She ignored his question.

"Elec, the clone is going to be registered as your brother. So make sure it understands that." Baguma didn't continue asking Lisa since she had ignored him but he instead informed his son.

"Yes, father." Elec answered obediently.

Eric(the clone) acted oblivious to them as his curiosity was aimed towards the food at the table.

This biological era, as some people call it, led to an abundance of food. But most of it was mutated. The humans of this era, genetically continued to modify certain plants and animals to suit their needs.

Plants are grown inside the city while meat is acquired through hunting the organisms outside the city. Of course some unique plant strains exist outside which can't be transplanted into the city.

The current energy requirements for the human body have drastically increased from the last century. The meat of the animals outside and the plants currently grown inside the city, have more energy than the ones of the last century. If a human being in this era lived during the 21st century, he would need to eat an entire cow for each of the three daily mealtimes just to barely maintain their energy needs.

Eric was currently looking at a piece of cooked meat which was giving off a dense aroma. It was stimulating his nostrils and his mouth was endlessly producing a large amount of saliva in anticipation of what was to come.

He didn't let it wait any longer. He directly lifted the piece of neat with both his hands and tried stuffing all of it into his mouth.

A chuckle escaped from Lisa's lips as she had watched him.

Elec and Baguma paused momentarily before their gazes simultaneously fell on her.

She coughed a little and regained her stoic face upon catching their gazes.

Shock had visibly shown up in Baguma and Elec's eyes when Lisa chuckled.

It was the first time in a long time that her laughter was heard.

Eric was still fighting with the piece of meat.

By the time he finished eating, oil was coating his fingers and mouth.

"I heard that your courtship of Leah isn't going well." It came out as a fact from Baguma's mouth.

"Don't worry father. Ultimately, she will become mine!" Elec declared with confidence in his eyes.

"I don't think she suits you!" Lisa commented.

But they didn't reply as she had said that line many times. They were used to her dissaproval.

Lisa stood up and moved to Eric's side and helped to wipe away the oil from his hands and mouth. He was like a child.

Only information pertaining to biological, physic and chemical studies were uploaded into his mind plus some other things but it seems proper etiquette wasn't.

The dinner ended in silence as each of them went to their rooms.

Elec and Eric shared a room, while Lisa and Baguma slept in separate rooms. Ever since Elec was born, it had been like that.

It was still around 8:30pm, so it was still considered early and there was no school during weekends.

Elec decided to once again immerse himself into his virtual reality game.

Eric synched his brain waves with those of Elec and he too saw what Elec was seeing.

The virtual world amazed him but since he needed to guard his master, he stayed standing on the spot.

To Elec, Eric was just a means to enhancing his powers. He didn't care for him.
