Chapter 34: Thirty-three

Alana turned her attention back to Eloise, her gaze filled with playful mischief, and a knowing smile graced her lips. "So, tell me, Eloise, is Jade your girlfriend?" she inquired, her tone laced with curiosity.

Eloise sighed, the complexity of her emotions evident on her face. She paused for a moment, contemplating her response. "No, we're not together," she admitted, her voice tinged with uncertainty.

Alana's expression shifted, her playfulness giving way to a more serious demeanor as she leaned closer to Eloise. "You better hurry up and go out with her, Eloise. This girl, Jade, she's truly special. Don't let her slip away," she urged, her voice carrying a sense of urgency. "And tell me, do you love her?" Alana's eyes held a glimmer of hope as she awaited Eloise's response.

Eloise found herself caught in the weight of Alana's question, her mind swirling with conflicting thoughts and emotions. She pondered the depth of her feelings for Jade, the way her heart raced in her presence. "Yeah, you're not wrong," she finally confessed, her voice laced with vulnerability. "But I don't know how I feel about her yet. It's complicated."

Alana nodded understandingly, her expression conveying empathy and support. "Take your time, Eloise. Love is a journey that unfolds differently for everyone. Just don't let fear hold you back from happiness," she offered, a supportive smile gracing her features. "There's Amber waiting for us outside. Why don't we go find her?"

Meanwhile, Jade, still overwhelmed by the unexpected kiss, found herself descending the stairs lost in a sea of distracted thoughts. Lost in her own world, she missed a step and began to slip, her body tilting precariously. But before she could hit the ground, a pair of strong and steady hands caught her just in time.

Amber stood there, concern etched on her features as she steadied Jade. "Are you alright?" she asked, her voice filled with genuine worry.

Jade gratefully accepted Amber's assistance, her heart still racing from the previous encounter. "Thanks for your help," she replied, her voice filled with genuine gratitude as she regained her balance. "I'm fine, just a little clumsy."

Amber smiled warmly, her eyes reflecting genuine kindness. "As long as you're okay, that's the main thing. By the way, I'm not a student here. This is the first time I've seen you," she revealed, her curiosity piqued by Jade's presence.

Jade returned the smile, finding herself drawn to Amber's genuine warmth. "It's nice to meet you," she said, her voice filled with a sense of intrigue. "I'm Jade. Are you visiting someone here?"

Amber nodded, her eyes lingering on Jade for a moment before she replied, her voice carrying a touch of mystery. "Yes, I'm not a part of this school, but I think my master is waiting for me. See you next time, Jade." With that, she bid her farewell and rejoined Alana and Eloise, leaving Jade standing there, captivated by the brief encounter that had left her curious and intrigued.

Back at the house, Eloise lay on her bed, her mind filled with a swirl of thoughts and emotions. The recent kiss with Jade lingered in her thoughts, its significance not lost on her. She contemplated the depth of her feelings, her heart pounding in her chest.

"I've been wanting to kiss Jade for a long time," she thought, a mix of excitement and trepidation intertwining within her. "Now that I have, I hope it won't change our relationship. Or worse, ruin it." She imagined all the possible scenarios that could happen after their kiss, from awkwardness to rejection to bliss. She wondered if Jade felt the same way about her, or if it was just a spur-of-the-moment thing. She wished she could read Jade's mind, or at least get a text from her.

Her gaze fell upon the ring her grandmother had given her a symbol of love and devotion. Memories of her grandmother's words echoed in her mind, the weight of their meaning hitting her anew. "Give this ring to the person you love the most," her grandmother had said.

In that moment, Eloise made a silent decision. "I should definitely give this ring to her," she resolved, a flicker of hope igniting within her. "But how? And when? And where? And what if she doesn't like it? Or worse, what if she thinks I'm proposing?" She groaned and buried her face in her pillow, feeling overwhelmed by the pressure of making the perfect gesture. She wished she could ask her grandmother for advice, or at least get a sign from the universe.

Meanwhile, Amber found herself recounting the day's events to her Lucy, her voice carrying a sense of excitement and uncertainty. She had just met the most amazing girl in the world, and she couldn't stop thinking about her.

"So, how was your day, Amber?" Lucy asked, her curiosity evident in her tone. She knew Amber had something to tell her, and she was eager to hear it.

Amber smiled dreamily, her mind still preoccupied with thoughts of Jade. She had never felt this way before, and she didn't know what to do about it. "As usual, except that I met a really beautiful girl," she confessed, her voice filled with a mixture of excitement and uncertainty.

Lucy raised an eyebrow teasingly, a playful smile forming on her lips. She could tell Amber was smitten, and she couldn't resist poking fun at her. "Tell me you didn't fall in love with her already," she teased.

Amber chuckled softly, her heart fluttering at the thought of Jade. She had only seen her for a few minutes, but she felt a strong connection with her. She wanted to see her again, to talk to her, to hold her hand. "Yes, this girl... I just know her name , but there's something about her that draws me in. I know I would like to be with her," she admitted, her voice carrying a touch of wonder. "It's strange."

Lucy nodded knowingly, understanding the unpredictability of love. She had been there before, and she knew how it felt. "You don't know her that much, but love works in mysterious ways. Good luck, Amber," she offered, her words filled with support and encouragement.

Suddenly, a thought occurred to Amber, her eyes lighting up with newfound determination. She remembered that Jade is in Eloise's school. Maybe Lucy could find a way to enrol there too, and get closer to Jade. "Tell me, Lucy, could you please help me enrol in the same school as Eloise? I want to get to know her better," she requested, her voice tinged with excitement and hope.

Lucy grinned mischievously, her playful nature coming to the forefront. She loved a good challenge, and she was always ready to help Amber with anything. "Yes, consider it done. I'll make sure you're enrolled in no time. Now, go to bed, Amber. Rest well and dream of the beautiful girl you've just met," she suggested, her voice carrying a touch of amusement.

Amber nodded, grateful for her friend's unwavering support, and prepared for a night filled with dreams of the captivating girl who had unexpectedly entered her life. She hoped that fate would bring them together again soon.
