Chapter 5: Chapter Five; An Enjoyable Meal

At that moment, as if she had called out to the boy herself, Sebastian looked over towards the closet where Mia was currently hiding. It felt like he was staring right at her, as if there wasn't a door between them at all.

Mia's heartbeat raced, she looked away quickly and she tried to make herself appear smaller by cradling her knees into her chest.

Sebastian kept staring at the door for a moment longer wondering if he was imagining things as he thought he had seen something or someone in there. He tugged on his fathers sleeve to grab his attention.

"Father…"

"Not now, Sebastian. Later" His father brushed the boy off.

"But father… I...I.." Sebastian tried telling his father again.

Mia's mother who saw what had the boy's interest attempted to change the subject and direct his attention elsewhere.

"'Your Grace' I do apologize. I don't think we have offered you a drink yet. May I go fetch you something from the kitchen?" Mary said as calmly as she could with a smile on her face.

"Are you offering yourself?" He said while turning his head to look Mary in the eyes. "If so, then yes I would love a drink." His 'Grace' replied with a devilish grin while licking his lips.

A chill ran down the length of Mary's spine, she was at a loss for words upon hearing his remark. She had only thought to deter the boy's suspicions and change the subject. Now she feared she might have stepped too far and would soon be swallowed whole by the beast standing before her.

"M-m-me 'Your Grace'?" Mary managed to stammer out.

"Mmm." Came the curt reply from Sebastian's father.

No one in the village knew that the Elite's were made up mostly of the Vampire race. There were a select few that were not vampire's as well, though they were only kept around as fodder for the vampires. They were compensated well, and compelled to keep the vampires secrets and tell no one. If any humans did find out the truth, it was right before their death, and thus they could not live to tell anyone.

The Elites' liked to work from the shadows, not that they had any deterioration from the sun, that was a silly myth that some humans probably came up with. They just preferred to work amongst the shadows, doing business mostly at night. So maybe that's where the rumor started. Which begged the question, who could have started such a thing?

"I beg your pardon 'Your Grace' I fear I do not know what you mean. We have some fresh juice in the fridge. If it would please you I shall go fetch you a glass." Mary stated as calmly as she could muster.

Sebastian's father looked quite amused as he watched the clear confusion on the woman's features. Truth be told, he loved to play with his 'food' before eating it. Childish habits die hard as they say.

"Are you hard of hearing, dear Mary? I said I would like for you to be my drink personally. I feel juice just wouldn't quench my insatiable thirst. Would you deny my request?"

His 'Grace' asked aloof and merrily. Mary gulped, waiting until it hit the pit of her stomach before replying.

"N-no I would never deny your request 'Your Grace'. She said, her voice shaking but not as much as her legs as she slowly inched forward to where he was standing giving her husband Robert one last glance.

Robert tried to smile but it faltered, he could barely keep himself standing upright not knowing what would happen to his wife. Sebastian's father smiled as his prey was actually coming towards him. No sooner had Mary taken her first baby step towards him, had he moved to where she was, his arm draped around her waist holding her gently but firmly. The motion was too quick for human eyes to see. One second he was across the room, the next he was towering over his meal.

"I would have never thought my food would come to me willingly, settle down on my plate and ask to be eaten." Sebastian's father said as he looked into Mary's eyes, holding her chin firmly with his free hand.

He turned his head around to look at Robert who was watching the two of them as if he were in a trance, before sinking his fangs into the woman's tender neck. Once his fangs pierced her skin he could taste her blood as it came gushingly into his mouth. Mary's eyes were wide in shock but she couldn't move or make a sound as she felt the pain of his teeth sinking into her.

After a while Sebastian's father felt the woman's limbs go limp from the amount of blood he was taking from her. He could hear her heartbeat slow down, to where it was no longer beating. Her complexion was ghost white and pale.

Satisfied with his meal, he let the woman go abruptly, and a loud thud sounded on the hard floor where he dropped her. He licked up the last trace of blood that lingered on his fangs. His eyes glowing bright red with a mixture of excitement and arousal, as fresh blood often does for vampires.
