The Alpha couldn't say anything to refute her words. She spitted the cold truth as if rubbing salt on his fresh wounds.

"What exactly it is that makes you think you deserve such life?" Gloria asked after she stepped up to Clyde and looked straight into his eyes. 

"Your father was just as confused and afraid when he ascended. He was never ready to shoulder the burden of the throne. I've told him many times over to not listen to others, but he didn't get it... he didn't understand that he was putting his family in dangers by defying the law set by our ancestors. And now you're repeating the same mistake."

"So what? Are you saying my unborn child deserves to die now just because it happened to be conceived by someone you don't like?" Clyde scoffed back. "Should I remind you of your promise that you would protect anyone born to the Aldric Family regardless?"
