Chapter 2: The Flower Shop

Giselle's POV

______

After the embarrassing beat down Fae got at lunch the other day Giselle's parents were not in a good mood. To make it up to her mother Giselle decided to stop by a nearby flower shop to hopefully lighten the mood at home.

Giselle never checks the weather though. About three minutes away from the shop after walking there it starts to pour down a cold autumn rain. Giselle hurries inside to find it's at a set warm temperature. She takes off a layer of her jacket enjoying the warmth and the smell the flowers have to offer.

She walks around noticing the shop is empty of any other customers. She looks for a set of purple petunias, giving them a gentle sniff before choosing which ones to buy.

"Royalty, Fantasy, Admiration, All things that make the meaning of a Purple Petunia, it's definitely a good gift for friends and colleagues"

Giselle looks up to see a guy her age with brown hair and golden eyes. "oh, you're that guy!" Giselle almost jumps up at recognizing a fellow school mate. "Hah, names Darian, I work here, hehe." Darian gave Giselle a friendly smile.

"Ah, my name is Giselle, nice to meet you Darian." Giselle gives Darian an awkward handshake before changing the conversation. "Sorry I missed what you said earlier, about the petunias, I was trying to get flowers for my mom." Giselle scratches her check in thought.

"Well purple Petunias are good gifts for colleagues and friends, since they represent admiration and respect. Although they can also stand for deep anger and resentment. Maybe not the best choice for your mother." Darian explains this as he leads Giselle to the other end of the shop. "Carnations are our most popular on mother's day, especially given their meaning, you would probably do better to get these for her."

"Well as long as I get the message across. How much are these?" Giselle says.

Darian hands Giselle the flowers gently, she notices his golden irises reflecting off of hers like a mirror covered in honey before looking away at the flowers.

"For a classmate? On the house, just make sure your mom takes care of them," Darian smiles.

"W-well thanks, for the flowers then, I owe you sometime. See you around, Darian." Giselle waves awkwardly to Darian as she leaves.

Oddly enough Giselle left feeling good, as though she'd possibly just made a friend for the first time in years. She was definitely coming back. It was still raining outside, but she didn't mind after that small interaction.

Darians POV

______

Darian was lucky just now. He wasn't expecting to run into Giselle so conveniently and privately, especially from his work place. He was figuring out ways to meet Giselle but it would seem fate brought her to him.

Darian was starting to believe meeting Giselle was no mistake. He definitely planned to take advantage of the debt he put her in by giving her some free flowers. She did say it herself, "...I owe you sometime..."

It's the weekend so it's not like he can just ask her the next day. Darian getting desperate for information decides to cash in on one of his secrets. He picks up the store phone and decides to call the one phone number who can give him what he wants.

"Hello, Dr.Singdo? Yeah it's me, Darian... I was wondering if you could do me a favor...See I was wondering about that student Giselle, I think it would be a really good for her to have a friend around, someone to sit next to in class?"

A long pause started on Dr.Singdos end. He knew what Darian was trying to say, but to switch a student in and out of classes to be with another would've been against the rules. However Giselle's situation was particularly difficult, not only that but Darian knew about a certain something Dr.Singdo didn't want anyone knowing about.

After a long hum Dr.Singdo finally responded, "I can't put you in all the same classes as her, but I can switch out your core classes. But what is it really? Why her, Darian?"

Darian smiled, "That I have yet to figure out Dr.Singdo, I'll see you at school with my new schedule."

Darian hung up the phone, the first step in his plan was done.

Giselle's POV

_________

After bringing home the carnations Giselle's mother was not pleased but she was calmer. At the moment she was grounded to her room for the next week. She couldn't go out anywhere or do anything, but it didn't bother her as she didn't really have any friends to talk to. Well she did manage to make friends with a boy at lunch a month ago, but he was kind of the reason she was in this mess.

Sedrick was a guy who mostly kept to himself, he looked like a total punk-nerd on the outside. He was a dork for things like boxing, wasn't good at schooling at all yet he still managed to keep a 3.5 GPA average. He had two metal piercings, one each for his eyebrow and lip. He wore baggy long sleeve shirts and his maroon hair looked like it was recently shaven but given some time to grow. Giselle was pretty sure he dyed it considering his eyes were blackish brown, if she knew better given some time his roots would show their true colors eventually.

Him and Giselle sat together at lunch out of a mutual understanding of both being loners. His reason being that he didn't have friends at school but rather he preferred to hang out with the guys at the boxing ring. Anyone looking at this from a first glance would say Sedrick was part of the mafia or a gang, but he was genuinely an alright guy with a love for sports.

Since Giselle was known for getting into fights it seemed only fitting the two would sit together. Sedrick would ask about the fights Giselle would get into but she never boasted about them the way one would think she would talking to a guy like Sedrick. Another thing was their arm wrestling matches. Most kids in the lunch room wouldn't hear the slamming of the table due to the noise but other kids nearby would flinch upon hearing the two go one on one. Giselle always lost the third match.

She had Sedrick's number but wasn't sure if she should give him a call. That day Fae went over to the lunch table, she was making fun of Sedrick. Said something real personal, something about his parents dying.

Giselle sat frustrated in her room. She couldn't believe Fae got off the hook for that. But Giselle didn't wanna tell Dr.Singdo what had been said for Sedrick's sake. Giselle wondered if Sedrick even thought of her as a friend at all, she worries of she stuck her neck out for the wrong person.

That is, until her phone started ringing.
