Chapter 2: Searching

After My mate heard the yelling he rushed toward the nursery. Two men were giving out the orders while others ran away. The captain of the guards told him a man took our daughter and they had everyone searching for them. Then he rushed into the nursery. He found our son safe in the crib still then he looked down at the floor. My mate found Lucy unconscious on the nursery floor near the crib and killed her for letting someone get close enough to steal our child. After he killed her I thought what if she knew something. But it was to late by then and I was not going to make him feel any worse than He already did. He sent guards and trackers all over the kingdom looking for the man and our daughter. He put up a reward for her safe return even listed it as no questions asked if someone would just bring us back our daughter. For ten years my mate and I searched for our daughter. We looked everywhere in the kingdom. As time went by I knew I would never see her again so I poured all my love into my son. On their birthday I always made a cake for both of my children. But then I had to do something because on his fifth birthday he asked me why I made two cakes. I told him it was to give him a choice. But I decided on his eighteenth birthday I would tell him about his sister. Until then I didn't want to burden a child with that kind of heartache. Every year my mate put out a new reward poster hoping someone would Finally tell us something. But year after year we got no reply. I couldn't take the heartache or the build up of hope just to have it dashed anymore so I asked him not to do it any more. Finally On Baron's tenths birthday we laid our daughter to rest and moved on with our lives.
