Chapter 32: Enigma VS Terrorbite!!
*3rd POV*
All people present at the scene were tense. Be it the NYPD or the media, they stood silently in the sound of rain falling and lightning crackling. They were scared seeing the Rhino fall and fight again, but his human resemblance eased it up a bit, but this thing absolutely terrified them. It's show of power proved to them they were no match for it.
Enigma left the building and landed down, facing the beast head on. They stared at each other for a few seconds, but it felt like eternity to the onlookers. Then the creature roared at him and rushed forward. Electricity started crackling around Enigma, but now all over his suit rather than the limbs, and he rushed forward as well, in a burst of speed.
The creature chomped forward, but expecting that, Enigma had already jumped up, turning mid-air and stabbing wolf claws into him. He had already analyzed the creatures genes and inserted a coolant in him through the claws. The creature shrieked in pain and tried ripping Enigma off it's back, but he would avoid his hand and stab again and again. Even though it itself generated some form of electricity, the one Enigma used still hurt.
All of it's spines started glowing, and it slammed it's long tail onto Enigma, who hopped off avoiding it. But just as he landed, the creature turned his mouth and fired a bright beam at him, which pushed him back, dragging him through the wall of the building and some pillars, finally stopping as he broke through the last pillar and tumbled on the ground.
The people were horrified seeing him take the blast on the face and their face to where he landed, to see him trying to get up covered with some form of energy shield like a film over his suit. Before he could get up, the creature was already over him and caught all four of his limbs by it's claws and held him on the ground.
Pinning Enigma down, the creature roared at his face. But mid-roar, his back got attacked by a bunch of missiles, breaking many of it's spines and deep gashes on it's back. The stunned people turned their head again to see the attacker, only to see the T-cycle in all it's glory.
In pain, the creature lost his grip, letting Enigma free, and kick him with a vibration enhanced kick sending it flying. It gained his bearings and glared at Enigma charging it's beam, which seemed to have gotten weaker and charging slower. But before it could fire, he received a electrically charged sonic-beam from Enigma's gauntlets, sending it tumbling back, only to get bombarded with a bunch of missiles again, damaging it. It had lizard's healing but the coolant from Enigma's claws slowed it down considerably, weakening it.
It roared and looked at Enigma again, who was already in front of him, stabbing his claws into right eye, blinding that side. By now, it had lost itself completely to it's animalistic nature and grabbed his leg and slammed him to the ground, followed by a flurry of punches and smashes, which Enigma blocked by an energy shield lifting his gauntlets,. But the ground below them was getting damaged and deeper. Seeing it's punches didn't work, it tried biting his head, but Enigma caught both it's jaws.
It started charging for a point blank beam, but got hit on it's right side, which sent it tumbling a few meters. It turned to see what hit him, to find Iron Fist staring at it with glowing fists. Before it could move, it's tail suddenly got caught and pulled by Jewel, who spun it around 2 times and threw it towards the fountain on the back crashing it into it. It was followed by ice missiles by T-cycle into it, freezing the fountain. The three and the others watched the crystal carefully, but suddenly Iron Fist and Enigma instincts rang, at which Enigma pulled Jewel behind him produced a light shield in front of him, and IF also got behind it, just in time for a fiery beam to break the crystal and hit the shield, pushing Enigma back a few cm's.
The creature broke out of the crystal, but looked extremely damaged. It couldn't stand upright anymore, and the cold missiles weakened it extremely, but it still roared and charged forward. It's claws were no longer charged with energy, easily deflected by Jewel, but it managed to catch her with it's other two arms, and turned around slamming it's tail into IF who was approaching it behind Jewel.
But it suddenly roared feeling stinging pain from it's back again. Enigma had jumped over the tail swing and stabbed it again, shocking him. It threw Jewel and slammed it's tail again on it's back, but this time Enigma easily avoided it and made distance. Jewel tried attacking again, but got sent flying by it's tail, as he turned and glared at Enigma again. But it was somewhat smart after the experiment and was confused by him standing leisurely in front of it. As Enigma snapped his finger, it suddenly felt danger, but it was too late. The freeze bombs Enigma placed on it's back wounds exploded, preventing it's healing factor even more and weakening it.
It could barely stand, yet tried to roar glaring at Enigma, only for him throw a ball it's mouth, chocking it on it's roar. It was confused when Enigma threw a disk at it, which split into four and surrounded it, generating a force-field around it.
"...Your creation wasn't your fault, but I can't let other's get your DNA..." Enigma said and pressed a button on his gauntlet, and the cage got engulfed in bright flames. In a few seconds, the light subsided, leaving behind nothing. The four discs combined again and went back to him. Jewel and IF made their way back to him, joined by Spiderman and Silk as well, as they knocked out Rhino. The media and police were still speechless seeing the battle just now. The officers managed to cuff Rhino and contain him, sending him to the Shield prison. The other Defenders and officers walked out with a knocked out Electro and Scorpion, with a cuffed and tied up Kingpin.
Taskmaster and Kraven had escaped, much to Enigma's annoyance, but he partially expected that and had placed a magical mark on them during his free-fall. He decided to leave them alone for now. Fisk looked at DD and Enigma and said, "Don't think this is over. I will make your life miserable. Nobody messes with Ki-*thwip*" he got interrupted by a web-shot shutting his mouth, which everyone was surprised was actually from Enigma.
"Don't you ever get tired babbling?" He said annoyed. Then he noticed Spiderman and others look at him funny and replied "What?"
"Ah, uh, nothing" Spidey replied. They finished helping police load them up. After that, Defender's went home, while Enigma and Spider's swung above the convict van following it to prevent any mishaps. After that everyone went their ways and Alex reached home slept off his drowsiness after the warm-up he had tonight with a smile.
*3rd POV end*
*Next Day*
"...Yesterday, on the raid we apprehended the biggest crime boss in New York, Kingpin, real name Wilson Fisk. He has been wanted for drug trafficking's, human trafficking's, murder and other charges. We also raided multiple of his warehouses and gathered evidence and arrested the men under his payroll. In his madness, Fisk had created a group of superpowered individuals, which you have probably seen the images and video's of. Thanks to the NYPD's new consultant group, The Defenders, we were able to safely secure most of them. Following yesterday's events, the rise of metahumans in the light have increased, hence NYPD will be working with the Defenders to secure those metahumans who misuse their powers... " I heard Chief Pratt's conference. Defender's were officially known as police consultants, completely removing the officers trying to chase us. There are still some who hate us, but minimal.
Fisk is to be on trial tomorrow, after which he will be taken for thorough interrogation. Though Shield or Hydra will try to get their hands on him to know about the scientists on his projects, since I destroyed all the data regarding it. I sure as hell wasn't gonna let them get the names of those I rescued. Though I can't stop them from doing it on Scorpion, Rhino or Electro. They're in Shield custody.
In school, exams will be starting soon so nothing new there. The Stark Expo finally got re-initiated, and Knight industries made headlines once again. The hovercars and bikes won their hearts. It was a collaboration with Stark industries since Tony owns patents for repulsors and his Father was the first one to propose the idea of hover cars. There are various laws under discussion as when it will launch, speed limit, and other things. Army tried forcing it for military, but got denied by Eliana. They tried forcing but Eliana got angry and... let's say they won't be trying that approach again. Of course, her anger was superficial, she just loves messing with people.
I have prepared the serums for each member of Defender to enhance their current abilities. Shield couldn't get anything out of Connors, so I am trying to get him out of there. It won't be long till it get's free. Unstable mentality seems to help avoid major charges. No wonder Joker always ends up locked up.
Osborn is moving towards insanity bit by bit everyday. My clone will give the stabilizing serum when he takes the Goblin. Otto Octavius is now working with Osborn on his miniature sun. Our next great adventure like yesterday will happen after quite a while probably, so finally time for relaxation for me. Maybe I should take Felicia on the trip as well?
*Nick Fury POV*
Fury was sitting on his chair listening to Maria Hill's report "... All the data found in the devices near the containment cells for the Metahumans Fisk made is completely damaged and files are burnt. We cannot get anything about the experiments conducted or the scientist. Other than that, we cannot get any DNA sample, or even a residue of the creature, codename: Terrorbite. It's like he got evaporated into air. The weapon department are scratching their heads about the bomb Enigma has. The World Security Council has actually deployed some agents under them to cause trouble in New York to catch him, but hasn't issued any order for us. My own opinion, their greed is overtaking their fear, or they want to capture him as well, getting any info he has on them" Hill reported.
"Fools, Enigma was alone then, but now has a team and connections. They are digging their own grave. What about Connors?" Fury asked.
"He cannot recreate the formula at all. Even his cells have become completely stable, no Lizard anymore. We couldn't get any serum or anti-serum as they were taken by Enigma. Other than that, the Knight's are trying to get Connors out of custody." She replied.
Fury closed his eyes listening to this. Both his attempts to get a SSS got blocked by Enigma. Even when there is no proof he destroyed the data under Fisk, he believes it was him. Him being outside fighting the Crocodile contradicts this though. Maybe another helper? Could be Queen, or the other three who helped him taking down Frankenstein's. Targeting them aroused suspicion, especially when they had messed with the Knights, but the attack required planning and observation, so he must have planned this for a while, making them messing with the Knights a coincidence. Just then Coulson walked in after knocking.
"I hope you have some good news?" Fury said.
"It depends on what you are looking for sir. We have still not found Enigma's base of operations, neither of the Spider's or Defenders. Spider's are a ghost as much as Enigma. Considering their partnership recently, they seem to have a close relationship. As for the rest of Defenders, they are Danny Rand, Colleen Wing, Lucas Cage, Jessica Jones, Matt Murdock and Elektra. We tried getting to Elektra but any info or proof we had on her when she was with Hand has disappeared, probably Queen." Coulson finished his report.
Fury pinched his eyebrows in frustration. Framing her again was an option but that would no doubt force Enigma's hand, and knowing how he shut up the WSC, he didn't want to take risks. "*sigh* Are any of them applicable for the Avengers initiative?" He asked.
"Mr. Murdock and Rand are probable candidates, but against powerful metahumans they are nothing. Rest are still under observation. From reports on the Spider's powers, they are perfect if trained but we can't get to them." He said.
Fury raised an eyebrow and said, "Didn't you deny Murdock for the initiative before.?" He asked.
"I did sir. I believed our agents are better in every way than him, since he is all martial arts, with a small superpower of echolocation, but seeing the things Enigma has done till now has made me change how I observe things now." Coulson replied, getting a nod from Fury.
"Focus on trying to find the Spider's and observe the others. Looking for Enigma has proven waste of resources. Try to find what Knight wants from Connors, but be at minimum. We cross the line, they will come for us. Get into talks for the new Hover-mobiles of theirs's as well. Send me the report of DNA samples collected from the 3 metahumans caught. Get me into a talk with Tony to supervise the Helicarrier's construction. Give me report's on Stryker's next plan." Fury gave orders to them.
"Sir, one more thing. The dealers of Frankenstein's human trafficking's you asked me to find. It was the Vincent's" Coulson said, with a shaken voice.
"Fu*k" Fury could only respond with this.
