Chapter two.
The ordeal had happened on Friday. The weekend was terrible enough. Joy lay on the cold floor, without cover at all. She wished she could just die. There was no need to survive with the feeling and the humiliation she would face in campus. Her eyes were dry of tears. She had exhausted them all night. Nothing seemed appealing to her at all. If only she had known how it would end, she wouldn't have gone to that place. She had never bothered going there before anyway. The fun and the curiosity were to blame for what she was going through.
But was fun that costly. Did it come with a tag? This was just but an innocent outing for crying out loud. Ivy and Vida go out more times than she cared to count, but none of this has ever happened to them. Why her? Who had she offended? These were the questions that ran through her mind yet she couldn't get any answers.
How will she face her mother? How will she start even explaining such a terrible thing? How will everyone react once they hear of what happened to her? For the longest time she was the envy of her village. Many young girls looked up to her as a mentor. Now this was bound to change. She would be the village laughing stock. This killed her a thousand times over and over again.
She was feeling overwhelmed by all that was happening. She wanted a shoulder to cry on but her friends were still out having the time of their lives like they always did every weekend. They won't be coming back until late Sunday nights. Poor joy felt so lonely. She had not taken anything since the ordeal and she felt hungry. However, the thoughts of a ruined future made her appetite and hunger seem like nothing. It would not take away her sadness. She soothed herself to sleep. She had been awake the whole time. She finally fell asleep but just for half an hour. She woke up screaming and sweating as fresh tears yet again blurred her vision. She had just had a nightmare as she felt herself being abused over and over again.
Not even her playlist could make her feel better. Nothing would distract the bad feeling. Nothing would comfort her. Her entire soul was crashed and devastated. She kept trying to replay the images of what happened just incase she remembered any details of her assailants.
She was supposed to report the incident to the police but she was embarrassed and didn't want to face the humiliation. On normal occasion she would have advised anyone in her place to report the matter so that they could do a checkup and assist medically but she had never put herself in their shoes. She had never taken into consideration how one really felt. Now this was first hand experience and it broke her heart to pieces knowing that she wouldn't take her own advice concerning the ordeal.
She was feeling soreness and pain in between her legs and she could barely move. She dragged herself back to the bathroom, opened the bathtub and sunk herself in. maybe it was better to drown right there. She felt the pain in her thighs where she had scrubbed herself the previous night until blood oozed from the fresh sores.
She poured all sorts of shampoos in the water to help her feel clean even just for a second. She sobbed silently; her eyes had already dried of tears. They had began aching too. Everywhere seemed just so painful to her. She didn't know where her award or phone were. She remembered that she had been awarded a nice trophy and a crown. She had taken several photos with people not necessarily using her phone but by effortlessly just posing with whoever wanted the photo. She had been an instant celeb.
