Chapter 19: Cultivation Class Selection (II)
''If your name is called come to the front of the testing room, your classes will be separate from the rest of the classes, however in your free time you can join whatever class you want.'' Leila announced at the front of the class.
''Mike, Laura, Samuel, Katy, Rebecca…'' This list of names continued as over twenty people who had gained some spiritual energy were read out. ''Mark, Michael and finally Richard.''
After a total of 40 people were read out they immediately showed happy smiles while the first twenty showed strange pride despite only being slightly stronger than other people.
The hundreds of remaining people showed regretful and disappointed expressions while a few weak willed students had tears welling up in their eyes.
Their lives were bound to be fickle and at best ordinary. That was if they weren't accidentally caught in an altercation between warriors of course.
''Alright, you will follow me first and your monthly allowances as trainees will be provided'' Leila said as she started to walk towards the exit. As for the failures, they weren't even worth her words.
Mark quickly followed the train of students, the hierarchy already being shown at this tender age. Students with high levels of spiritual energy led the way followed by the lower ones and finally the people with powerful bodies and naturally that included Mark.
However this was exactly what Mark wanted, he needed to get access to resources without drawing people's attention.
'' You are now considered the elites of your class, you will officially be taught about how to manipulate and easily produce spiritual energy''
'' As long as you spend the next few years and successfully produce 5 strands of energy, you will be recruited by various mercenary groups.'' Leila commented as they walked.
This undoubtedly caused a large number of the students to crack smiles on their faces. Many people here were from commoner backgrounds or refugees from various fallen cities, so to be able to become a mercenary is a dream for them.
''Each of you will be provided with 1 to 5 Rank 1 crystal every month depending on your strength.''
Finally after listening to Leilas descriptions, something that finally interested Mark appeared. In order to make full use of the clones in his system he needed a huge amount of cultivation resources.
As for the rest of the information, it was irrelevant for Mark. He had no plan on joining a mercenary group right now.
Leila led all of the students to a much larger classroom than the original one. It could easily fit 500 students if sat next to each other, however the seats were spread out providing each student with a large desk to use.
''Everyone finds their own seats'' Leila said dismissively as she walked to the front of the class.
There was very little speaking as the people who had cultivated spiritual energy walked naturally to the front. While the weaker students walked to the back.
After everyone was seated Leila officially started the first lesson.
''Cultivation Techniques, while not necessary, are incredibly helpful if you wish to become a warrior. They facilitate easier absorption and manipulation of spiritual energy, while some can double your combat power when used.''
''However, cultivation techniques are unbelievably rare and difficult to master. The number of warriors in this city that have successfully practiced a cultivation technique can be counted on one hand but they are also the most respected and powerful warriors.''
The students around the room listened closely to this information. This was the changing point. Especially Mike, who sat at the front of the class. Having already cultivated 10 strands of spiritual energy due to luck he needed to find a way to keep his lead on the other students.
''Teacher, is there anyway to get a cultivation technique?'' Mike asked.
''There are very few opportunities for people of your standing to access cultivation techniques.'' However Leila dashed his hope easily.
'' However if you get access to people of high standings you might be able to reach it. But even if you got one, you probably won't be able to learn it.''
'' All techniques, even the most basic ones, are incredibly difficult to practice. They involve huge amounts of information and detail that you can't imagine. Even the genius' of the city hasn't successfully learnt it despite some of them already being warriors.''
This lesson continued for another couple of hours before it finally finished. The time was already late in the afternoon as all the students returned to their dorm with a small animal skin pouch in their hands.
Each pack contained the monthly allowance of spiritual crystals.
Mark withdrew all but one clone and quickly used half of his strength to run home. He desperately wanted to make use of all of these crystals.
He finally returned to his dorm room and ran in to see his remaining clone sitting there fiddling with the watch on his hand. He couldn't help but withdraw the clone and sift through the memories of the clone.
When he saw what happened when he left, he was shocked. But the clone had naturally thought about it deeply so Mark easily accepted the information.
He didn't do anything else but summoned 5 separate clones to absorb the crystals.
Luckily his strength had risen to the point where each can individually absorb a Rank 1 crystal. However this was already nearing his limit, if it was much lower it could cause the clones to struggle to receive the full amount of spiritual energy in the crystal.
As for the extra clone, that was what Mark planned to send out of the school again. He has just received 50,000 credits and he wanted to use it. He needed more and better weapons.
