Chapter 101: Darkness Arrives Once Its Time

***

Heads up changes: I think I'm going to continue writing in the 3person form instead of switching back towards the personal form once we switch to Seccessus again. I didn't use it in the beginning because there was the "nameless" period. But I'm thinking about continuing in this style.

Tharnomath found himself in an unusual sentimental mood. Perhaps his subconscious was aware that his situation had become desperate. Each charge he fends off, after all, consumes mana, and whilst his mana source is vast, it is not infinite. Especially not when one's opponent is as powerful as the lava stone orc leader Ultrhis Kaahen.

His massive stature and general magical resistance make it quite consuming to efficiently use spells against him.

Would he have made the same choice if he knew that this was to be the outcome?

Tharnomath to be honest didn't know. He felt like dying in a battle was almost a given. Unfortunately enough, it seems like his death would only be a momentary distraction for their opponents. Which angered him greatly.

The frost tyrant still lies there, having to fend off Ulthris Kaahen's final blow for the last minutes. His cold breath becomes heavier and slower. The lips begin to turn blue as the frostbitten breath freezes the surrounding air before it crumbles.

Each exhales of breath, each spell of magic, is a step closer to demise.

Ulthris Kaahen the impatient orcish warrior is making ground. The previous 2 forceful push spells of Tharnomath were insufficient to actually move the moving fortress.

An ice wall is created right in front of him as a last direct barrier.

The gigantic attacker slams "Schweres Herz" against the ice wall. Shattering it like one would smash a mere glass cup.

Ulthris now stands before Tharnomath. Holding up his great war hammer, then slamming it downwards to crush the six golden-eyed devil.

The six beautiful golden eyes glare towards his assailant. There was no fear, only a look of resentment and pride.

*BANG*

The sound of powerful force hitting something is followed by a heavy dragging sound.

Everything turned dark for Tharnomath. However, unexpectedly he did not feel pain, nor did he witness the war hammer striking him.

Everything just went dark, followed by some loud noises.

The darkness wasn't even eternal, simply a flash of darkness. Tharnomath who realized that he was not actually dead, started to look around for a suitable explanation.

That's when his six golden eyes found Ulthris getting pushed away by a winged opponent.

His wings were made of magic, the hair a long curling brown, the weapon he wields a spear created of his own blood and darkness magic, and the eyes that glare towards Ulthris is light green like a pure emerald.

The trademarks of one demon he knew. Seccesus Solum Luciel.

After Seccessus left the Talvit estate.

"East she said... WELL, NEXT TIME SHE CAN BE MORE SPECIFIC! HOW AM I SUPPOSED TO KNOW WHERE IN THE GODFORSAKEN EAST I'M SUPPOSED TO BE!" Seccessus yells in frustration as he's been flying around to no avail.

'I don't see Eli anywhere, nor anyone familiar in general.'

*sighs*

'Stay calm, you have a direction. I don't know for what reason, but Leilaya doesn't have the tendency to spout unnecessary blabber. She would have directed me here for something important.' Seccessus thinks, rationalizing his irritation with logic and trying to keep a certain calm.

The fact that the city has turned into a battlefield doesn't help the search. Continuous screaming and the clashes of steel and mana dominate the city. Even the sound of buildings collapsing has been picked up several times.

Then after several minutes of searching the area without any lead. A very loud shattering sound overwhelmed the entire area. It was clear that something landed a heavy blow, a blow so fierce that it overshadowed everything else.

'I should complain more, seems to help.' Seccessus thinks to himself, immediately flying towards the direction of the noise.

IT was quite far away, but at least he had a general sense and area to search now. Once he got close enough to the area where the sound originated from. Seccessus could feel that 2 powerful individuals are battling it out. One of them was someone Seccessus was very familiar with.

He could not easily forget his sparring partner throughout the years. Tharnomath Talvit and his forceful frosted white golden aura was fighting against someone who felt very strong. The opponent's aura seems aggressive and tends to fluctuate.

Wasting no time, Seccessus decides to make his way over towards this battle.

Before his green emerald eyes, an unexpected sight appeared. Tharnomath was wounded and on the defensive against the gigantic lava stone orc leader.

Ulthris easily destroyed the ice wall before him as he swings his great war hammer downwards towards Tharnomath.

It was clear that the strike would kill him.

Instinctually, Seccessus charges towards the orc at an incredible speed. Pointing the blood bound spear that he had not yet dissipated straight towards his target.

The great war hammer arc was halfway down.

*BANG*

Seccessus managed to make contact with the Tharnomath's assailant. The speed with which he arrived was so great that he even managed to move Ulthris Kaahen away.

The spear managed to slightly pierce the orcish skin, not enough to be considered anything of note. Still, the embedded spear made it possible to continue to push Ulthris Kaahen away from Tharnomath, making sure that he could not finish him.

The ground underneath the forceful moved orc starts to break as he buries his feet to stop the momentum.

Having successfully halted the momentum, Ulthris Kaahen uses the handle of his war hammer, give the darkness winged demon attacking him a quick jab.

The hit connects, momentarily dazing Seccessus. Then Ulthris goes for a hard strike with "Schweres Herz." Trying to do significant damage.

Seccessus is not dazed for long enough, however, and dives into his own shadow.

He appears out of Tharnomath's shadow and turns toward him.

"When Leilaya told me to go East, I assumed it was to safeguard Eli. I didn't realize I had to safeguard you as well."
