Chapter 2: Forbidden Library

The sound of many sets of footsteps could be heard running down the stairs outside the door of the underground library. Soon the door was unlocked and over a dozen clergymen and women rushed into the room.

The lights were soon turned on and they could tell that no one was in the library when they entered, however, they did know someone had been in there and broke one of the chains to a book.

The clergy quickly began scanning each of the shelves while looking for what book had been freed from its chains. And after a few minutes, the silence in the room was broken by a priest who had found which book had been tampered with.

"Tome 319 chains were broken and is currently missing!"

A nun with a blindfold, who was standing in front of a pedestal with a book on it, then began rapidly flipping through pages to find what knowledge Tome 319 held and how dangerous this knowledge was. The true name of that library was 'The Forbidden Library' where all the forbidden books of the church were stored.

After a few moments, the nun stopped flipping through pages and had a worried look on her face. "T- the page is missing, it's been torn out of the directory!"

"Dammit! When I find this bastard!" An older man dressed in more elaborate robes than the rest of the priests slams his fist into the wall behind him. "I want everyone to start working on locating the tome!"

All the clergymen and women in the room answered at the same time "Yes, Father Siamon" then they all began heading up the stairs to start their search for the book that the teenager had stolen.

However, no one noticed that the nun with the blindfold stayed in the room.

She looked at the directory and tore out the page that held the knowledge about what Tome 319 held and then walked over to a shadow on the wall and pressed her hand on it, where it slowly began to sink into the shadow, soon her entire body followed behind.

'Kiddo it seems that my mission here is about to end. Even so, I'll keep helping you till the end because of her. Stay strong through the trials ahead while I delay these bastard cultists for as long as I can.'

A figure could be seen exiting the shadow casted by a giant tree that was at the edge of a forest, slowly rising from the ground and shadows melting off his body. His pure-white hair reflected some of the moonlight and his vibrant violet eyes slightly glowed in the darkness.

He looked around the area and could see that he had arrived at the location he wanted to. Then he started running towards the mountain nearby the forest until he reached a wall of stone, then looked up, seeing a small cave located high up within the stone.

He started grabbing rocks that were sticking out from the cliff and slowly started making his way up. He had never been in this cave because it was almost morning when he spotted it, so traveling to the shadow of its walls was impossible for him.

Finally, he had made his way nearly to the lip of the cave, however, the rock he was holding started to crumble. He quickly used the sheer force of strength to smash his fingers into the stone and create a new hold for himself.

His face distorted in pain and saw blood slowly flowing from where his fingers were lodged into the stone. Even though that was the case he continued to climb to the lip of the cave with bloodied fingers.

After a few more minutes he had made his way to the lip of the cave and began pulling himself inside of it. When inside he fell to his hands and knees, then began to slightly laugh at what he saw.

He could see that his fingers, which had lost most of their skin and nails, had started to heal. Truthfully he had always been a fast healer, however, this was a completely new speed of regeneration.

Ever since he had had that dream, his whole body had begun to change or evolve. His physical condition and body were improving, along with his mentality changing, and the feeling of pain in his throat began.

Once his fingers had healed he could feel the burning in his throat turn into smoldering embers of pain. He knew that consuming blood was going to be his normal soon, however, he wanted to put it off as long as he could.

Because he knew once he consumed blood that his entire being would evolve further into a Bloodborne.

He sat up on his knees and looked into the cave, seeing that it was completely empty. There were no signs of people, Mana Beasts, Monsters, or Mythical Creatures being or living there recently.

The teenager slowly began to stand up and head to the back of the cave, where he found a naturally formed ledge and set the book on it. He then turned to the entrance of the cave and held his hand in front of him with his palm facing up.

He began raising his hand slowly into the air and strings of shadows began rising with it until they reached the top of the cave. Then he quickly clenched his hand into a fist and strings fired from the walls of the caves, connecting to the other side.

The appearance resembled a spy movie where many lasers shot across a room before a valuable treasure, however, this time it was shadows and an old book. The teenager knew that the book could be tracked by the Mana of the spell and if someone entered the cave and touched the shadows, it would alert him.

He smiled then nodded at his handiwork then began sinking back into the shadows. Moments later he began exiting a wall in a room with two bunk beds in it. Even though he was alone in the room, he was quiet while taking off his shoes and changing his clothes.

After that, he began to move the blankets on one of the bottom bunks before he laid down on it and tried to fall asleep. However, his mind was too preoccupied with thoughts of what he learned, when he would read the book again, and when he'll be caught by the church.

After an hour of his thoughts racing his mind finally had enough and he fell asleep for the rest of the night.

Meanwhile, the clergy was rapidly looking for the book using magical tools and other means to track it. However, the teenager had spent the past week traveling through the nights further and further away from the church, then the next night traveling to the last shadow he was in.

It will take some time for the clergy to track down the protection spell because of that, meaning that the teenager could read it until he knew that the shadow strings were disturbed by a member of the clergy.
