Chapter 2: Re://Forge

As the prompt hovered in the air before him, Alden blinked slowly before giving a quick nod. He needed every advantage he could get in a world like this one, and it seemed like these "Armaments" were his golden ticket.

'Yes.'

To the side, the crystal that had been laying on the ground began slowly floating into the air. After a moment, it stabilized before flying into the golden window. The surface of the window seemed to ripple like water as the object entered it.

[Analyzing Armament Crystal]

After a moment, another prompt replaced the previous.

[Armament options : Beowulf Weapon Armament (*), Beowulf Armor Armament (*), Beowulf Accessory Armament (*)]

He considered his options briefly before realizing that, while he had a weapon and accessory, he had no armor. Though he was in RWBY, he didn't think he had his aura unlocked yet, or if he even could have it unlocked. That meant that, at least for now, he needed armor more than anything else.

[System Alert: Quest Assigned]

- Unlock your aura yourself, or get it unlocked by another -

[Reward]

- User gains aura, and the ability to unlock their semblance -

'Well then.'

That was a new function that he hadn't seen before. Though, there wasn't really a reward given besides what the actual action entailed. Though, he supposed it was just to give him a tangible direction. Regardless, he turned his attention to the previous prompt.

'Forge the Armor Armament'

[Choice selected. Forging...]

A loading bar appeared on the window in front of him, as it slowly filled up to completion. As soon as it finished, a prompt appeared, highlighting a small square with an icon of a breastplate.

*Ding*

[Forging completed. Product: {Savage Beowulf's Breastplate (UC)} (*)]

As the prompt faded, a bone plated breastplate faded onto his body. As with the spear and necklace, he felt a surge of energy rushing into his body before it settled somewhere inside of him. Freshly invigorated, Alden looked around. Trees, trees, and more trees. Well, he was certainly in a forest. He decided to take stock of his current situation. Firstly, he looked at his own body.

It seemed like he was a little more fit than he'd been, and a little taller as well. Finally, there was one last thing to check. He pulled the waistband of his pants forward, and looked down. After a moment, he heaved a sigh of relief.

'Well, that's a pleasant surprise.'

Luckily, his life partner was healthy and fit.

'Hmm, my Armaments are still manifested. Is there a way I can put them away?'

At that, he felt a sort of tugging sensation somewhere inside of him. It felt similar to the source of the energy his armaments formed from. His armaments faded away from his body and the sensation stopped.

'Huh, that was odd. I wonder if I can take them back out?'

The tugging sensation was back, though this time he felt individual strands that he could pull on. One for each of his armaments. It felt like a connection to his soul, with each Armament being a sort of... Orb? In any case, he could summon them individually, which was certainly helpful.

He tugged on his connection to the necklace, and it formed around his neck. He felt the familiar surge of energy as it flowed into his system. He re-summoned his other gear, though he let his spear fade after realizing he would have to carry it while walking.

He took a moment to revel in the flow of power he felt from his Armaments, before he picked a direction.

'Well, I suppose whichever way I go I'll just walk until I find something. Whether that be a road, a town, or more Grimm.'

He started walking in a random direction. As he walked, he looked up at the night sky, seeing a shattered moon through the tree-tops. It was breathtaking, seeing it in person. Huge shards hung around it, forming a web of astral rubble.

Suddenly, the hair on the back of his neck stood up as his mind screamed at him to move. He tumbled to the side, closely avoiding a lunge from another shadowy creature. As he got to his feet, he moved away as he took a closer look at it.

A long, bone covered tail led up to a bipedal form. The creature, a Creep if he remembered correctly, had long, clawed hind legs. Though it possessed no forelimbs, it's bone-masked jaws looked razor sharp. He certainly didn't want to let those come anywhere near his flesh.

He formed his spear in his hand, and assumed a rudimentary stance. With one leg forward, and his spear held pointing towards the Creep. He steadied himself before, with a quick exhale, he charged forward at the creep. It's tail lashed out at his chest, and he stepped back quickly. It wasn't enough to fully dodge the swipe, but the armor absorbed the remaining force.

He thrusted his spear forward, and it lodged deeply into the Creep's chest, cracking the thin bone plating covering it. He pulled back and stepped out of the way of another tail swipe, before stabbing forward into the Creep's skull. As it dissipated, another small crystal was left behind.

A new prompt was brought into focus as he let his spear fade.

[Would you like to forge an Armament?]
