Chapter 2: Chapter 2: Ashton Kempt
"Can I help?" He asked again when I did nothing but gaped at him. He looked a tad shy because I was not responding.
Is it really him? I screamed internally. Did I just really bumped into the Ashton Kempt. He still looks the same.
Ashton Kempt. Just his name would make the girls back in high school sigh. He was not your average kind of guy. Everyone knows who Ashton Kempt is. From teachers, staffs and even to the school cleaners and security guards. He is also famous among the guys. You just have to list down the things your looking for a guy and he has it.
If you are looking for someone who is rich. Ashton is not only rich but filthy rich. He is like the Richie Rich version in our school. He is the son of the richest businessman and philanthropist in the city. Because of the vast wealth which came from different industries, he only has his butler at times can be considered his nanny with him at home. He is driven to and from school by luxury cars. Which, by the way, would already be in school before the classes end and would wait for him until he is ready to go home. Talk about money!
If you are looking for someone who is handsome and athletic. Ashton is there to make your day. He is what you call a boy next door type of guy. Tall at 6 feet 4 inches, blond and blued eyed boy - definitely the boy next door kind of guy. He was scouted as a basketball player for the school and was declared MVP for three consecutive years. And let me tell you this, whenever Ashton was inside the basketball court, the court is filled with not only screaming girls but boys who just love to watch him play. And this is from the year he started till the year he quit. No one actually knows why he quit though. He just did.
Now if you want a guy who is smart, well what should I say? He was always asked to represent the school for local and international competition. He was herald as a math and science wizard. He used to join a math quiz which was once held in Australia and ended up bringing home the bacon or should I say the gold medal. He was also always asked to join writing and speech contest, debates and impromptu speaking too. He was eloquent and well verse. Just making you think how can he be so good both in writing and speaking when all he does is basketball.
Want someone who is artistic? Ashton is your guy. He painted an entire wall showing artistic perfection as quoted from our Arts teacher. He actually showed his sensitivity towards nature and discrimination in his mural which touched a lot of people especially since he was like a god during high school. He not only paints but also plays the guitar and sings. He auditioned in one of our plays during our fourth year. I was a member of the theater guild back then, but I was always behind the scene since I was terribly shy. We were quite uncertain as to how to take him auditioning but well we just let him do it. Man, he did blew our minds. He was a baritone whose vocal range is outrageous. To make the long story short, he got accepted to the lead role. And I should say, because of him we had a full house and was requested by the administration for an encore due to public demands. Talk about the love he always gets from people.
But although Ashton is all that. He is quite nice though a little bit timid. I always thought that it was due to how he was brought up. He has friends but his friends were never allowed to visit him at home. He was also not allowed to do sleep overs. Nor was he allowed to hang out with friends. So technically, he was treated like royalty by those employed by his parents and all rules were carried on down to the last letter.
"Eherm. Again, can I help you?" That delicious baritone brought me out of my reverie.
