Chapter 6: Ren Yamai
--- Flashback to Komi and Akiyama interacting in the classroom ---
Outside their classroom, a girl with long auburn hair and a ribbon over her left ear watched the both of them interact.
'How dare he address Komi-sama so familiarly!! Calling her by her first name? UNFORGIVABLE'
That's right, this girl is Ren Yamai, Komi's stalker.
After watching them talk in the classroom, she trailed them to the rooftop. She wasn't able to see Komi's writings as she was hiding behind the entrance to the rooftop, so she could only listen to what Akiyama answered to guess the content of the conversation.
'I'll never ever forgive him, Akiyama, you're dead meat.', Ren thought with dark almost lifeless eyes.

After the exchange Komi and Akiyama had on the rooftop, they both went separate ways home.
On the way home, Akiyama, currently passing through an alleyway, bumped into Ren Yamai, one of his new classmates.
Ren Yamai is a girl with long auburn hair and a ribbon over her left ear, At first glance she looks like the kind, popular girl. Akiyama, however, had reason to doubt the former claim. Ren Yamai was standing before him with a dangerous gaze and a box-cutter in her left hand.
Secretly, Ren Yamai is what'd you'd call a totally nuts yandere, her most favorite hobby being, stalking Komi Shouko.
The reason why she's here? As Komi's stalker, she trailed Komi and Akiyama to the rooftop and saw something she couldn't leave standing, someone other than her got close to Komi, and even hugged her. A crime only punishable by the most gruesome death.
"Can I help you?", Akiyama asked carefully.
"Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable. Unforgivable.", Ren muttered beneath her breath.
Unexpected, Ren charges at Akiyama in a swift motion, trying to stab him with her box-cutter.
Akiyama, in a sense of danger, reacted instinctively and caught her arm, disarming her by grabbing the blade and ripping it out of her hand, leaving a deep cut in his palm.
'Fuck, this hurts.', Akiyama, only voicing out a grunt, thought.
Akiyama, now holding the box-cutter in his hand, and gripping Ren Yamai's right arm tightly, is staring down at Ren Yamai.
"What in god's name is wrong with you!!", Akiyama roared, he was angry, obviously, his classmate just attacked him with a box-cutter.
Ren Yamai, shocked that her attack didn't work, tried another way out. With her free hand, she punched Akiyama as hard as she could, but alas, it was to no avail. Although the punch hurt, there still is an undeniable genetic difference between male and female. Ren Yamai's body didn't have enough strength to knock Akiyama down.
Akiyama, now furious, threw the box-cutter aside and punched Ren Yamai in the face, without any restraint, her nose immediately started flowing with blood. Throwing her to the ground, he sat on her shoulder joints with his knees, rendering her immobile.
"Hah?? Do you mind telling me what in god's name is wrong with you?", angrily, Akiyama asked again.
Ren Yamai, seeing no way out, decided to talk: "You maggot got close to Komi-sama, how dare you hug her with your filthy hands, how dare you even breathe the same air as her????".
The incoherent mess Ren said made Akiyama have a sliver of an idea what she's on about. Her rumblings made him think that she might be an intense case of limerence and watched him and Komi hug on the rooftop, causing her to react like this.
"You... You're a full-blown yandere for Komi, aren't you?", Akiyama asked bluntly.
"Are you stupid?? I'm just protecting Komi-sama from worthless flies such as you, only I am worthy of her majesty!", Ren roared.
Akiyama, now knowing just what this is on about, wasn't sure what to do now, should he call the cops on his new classmate? But this would generate a lot of trouble for both him and maybe Komi. Being a new arrival to this city, more stress than he already has is something he'd generally want to avoid. But then again, can he really leave his "classmate", that tried to murder him for such a silly reason, alone?
--- Komi's house ---
While Akiyama had a fight with her stalker, Komi, on cloud nine, was currently lying face-down in her bed, flapping her legs up and down. Akiyama was back, finally, and the best of all, it's not even in letter, he now literally attends her school.
Until now, this had to be her best day in life yet. When thinking about attending class with Akiyama, about eating lunch together, or maybe even learning for exams together, her heart sped up.
She just hoped that her new friend-circle will accept Akiyama easily, but she is not too worried about that. Her lot is a pretty accepting group, especially Osana Najimi, everyone's childhood friend, they will probably get along just fine.
Remembering that Akiyama left her his phone number, she pulled out her new cell-phone and saved his contact as "Shoji". But now he doesn't have her number, so she decided to write him an SMS.
*Shoji, this is Shouko, once again, I will be in your care*
...
'Hmm, maybe?'
*Shoji, this is Shouko, once again, I will be in your care ❤️*
...
'No no no no no no, uwahhh... why did I do that? Quick erase the heart'
... click ...
Instead of a text-editor, the phone displayed a string of text,
*Sent*
'I misclicked...'
...
'UWAHHHHH, CAN I ERASE SENT SMS??? PLEASE NO, HOW EMBARRASSING, WHY DID I HAVE TO DO THAT'
But alas, a technical impossibility. Always check mails before sending. Don't be like Komi and save yourself from embarrassment.
That day would later be known as the day Komi had the best sleep with the weirdest dream about Akiyama...

First of all, a big shoutout to all readers that still stick to reading this fan-fic, thank you all very much! We've already reached 40 collections, way more than I ever expected!
This chapter was yet another difficult one, and to be honest, I'm not quite satisfied with what I wrote here.
Ren Yamai is such a difficult character, I wrote the chapter based on what I'd think she'd do if someone went further with Komi than just associating with her. I mean, in canon, she kidnapped and wanted to murder Tadano for just hanging around with Komi.
And I'm not quite sure as to what to do with her. I think that even in canon, the most logical thing to do would be to call the cops on her, I mean we're talking about attempted murder here. But in the manga, the entire kidnapping thing is just dropped with Komi telling her off, which IMHO is quite unlogical.
So, here is the suggestion, I'll do what you guys think would be beneficial to the storyline.
Either, Ren Yamai gets dropped from the fan-fic by imprisoning her for attempted murder, or i think of some believable reason why Akiyama just drops the whole thing. What do you guys think? Let me know in the comments.
Also, an unrelated question as a new author, I always tend to write in past-tense, e.g.:
"Akiyama, in a sense of danger, reacted instinctively and catched her arm, disarming her by grabbing the blade and ripping it out of her hand, leaving a deep cut in his palm."
Here my question, which narrative-tense do you guys prefer, past-tense or present-tense? e.g.:
"Akiyama, in a sense of danger, reacts instinctively and catches her arm, disarming her by grabbing the blade and ripping it out of her hand, leaving a deep cut in his palm."
