Chapter 60: Dread Servant

'So....this is over now right?' I can't help but ask as the screen finally goes dark, Sage's body savaged beyond belief as his physical body continues to take damage from the lanyo's mental attack.

"Oh definitely Kyle, that lanyo isn't the strongest but he's damn smart and knows how to use his abilities. That was the ability Dread Realm, where the lanyo can suck its target into a private area filled with that victims own fears and actions from the past. Anything that happens to them in there is transferred out here so as soon as that snake creature ripped his spine out it was over, the idiot just refused to die until now." Emi says as Gorask slowly walks back into the core room and nods at everyone before throwing down the corpse of Sage.

"I want him. He was formidable and when he passed so did all the souls he tortured. Allow me to convert him to a servant and it will give me more power." Gorask rumbles as Emi nods towards me to allow it.

'Before I say yes what exactly do you mean by converting him?' I ask as the lanyo smiles at me, its fangs sending a chill down my core as I remind myself that he's one of mine.

"I may convert worthy opponents I have defeated into Dread Servants by chaining their souls to their body and infusing it with magic. They become unable to defy my orders and are granted small amounts of my power as well as having their original bodies strengthened and turned into a more useful form. Had I fought this man in melee combat with the archer also there I would have lost and been added to that bastardized weapon of his. But wardens are easily killed in my realm especially while exhausted, so considering he was powerful I'd like to turn him into a useful piece." Gorask explains patiently as I nod along.

'Do it then. How many can you have exactly also, they might actually be useful in the future.' I say as I watch Gorask lean over the body and open its jaws impossibly wide before spewing out a pure stream of darkness and shadows, the warped expulsion hitting the corpse and sinking into it as a heart wrenching scream echoes through the core room and a purple vision of Sages torn apart body coated in chains hovers above the corpse before being forcefully dragged along the tide.

As the specter sinks into the corpse Gorask's mouth pops back into place and he watches in fascination as the corpse begins to convulse, the skin turning a black hued grey as spines grow through its neck and chin. The once human legs begin fusing together into a disfigured maggot tail while the mans hands fuse together and spikes appear randomly around the previous graspers. Sage's previously muscular build remains but his back becomes hunched and fur grows across the hump, red dots slowly brightening among the fur. Finally as the body begins to calm its head recedes into its shoulders leaving only a single oversized eye while the original face presses out of the creatures chest.

"I knew it would be worthwhile to wait. Lanyo's get a new dread servant slot every twenty levels. The servants can grow stronger but once they die we may not create a new one. This man turned out quite nice, his visage would inspire dread among the most vetted combatants and his class changed from a warden in life to a savager now. He will specialize in close combat, debilitating effects, and mental degradation. Thank you Master." Gorask says happily as the servant stands listlessly beside him, its eye-head bowed in respect as I contain my revulsion.

'No problem but could you, ah, maybe have it leave the core room. It's kind of hard to look at.' I ask gently as the creature stands at attention quickly before turning towards the zombie tunnel and slithering away.

"That was its dread aura, it will take time to train its control but i have no doubts it will become powerful. I shall take my leave to hunt the fae's quest people considering its now in my missions tab. I shall bring my new minion with me and fulfill this for you." Gorask says as he leaves the core room slowly while growling towards the tunnels with the zombie workers.

'Ok so that was disturbing. Lets leave him to the hunting quest from the fae archer and focus on the next bit of excitement! This wight boss is useless to me since its uncontrollable. So we're gonna try the gacha system!' I exclaim as I choose the Wight's picture in my inventory and confirm the gacha pull.

As the wight disappears from my inventory a large stone egg appears in front of my core, a disc in the center glowing a rainbow of colors before finally settling on a bright blue. Cracks begin to appear around the eggs shell as whatever's inside of it lets out a yawn before the stone shatters and I see my new boss creature.

{Fraz The Shroom Boomer Species-Myconid Grenadier Boss Class-B Description-Myconids are sentient humanoid mushrooms that live deep in the caves of the world. Although peaceful and inclusive towards all races they are viscous warriors when called to defend themselves, using poison and spores to convert their enemies into fungal allies or slowly drain their lives away. Fraz The Shroom Boomer is the definition of a myconid put under pressure. Peace loving and agreeable, this man shroom was forced into combat during an attack on his colony by slavers. Watching friends and loved ones being cut down in front of him, the young myconid mutated with rage, his small body growing to a lanky height as small spores became swollen with toxins on his back. Leaping into the fray the young Fraz became a legend among myconids as his poison grenades and Spore mines devastated the invaders. Sadly the man faded into history, nobody knowing what happened to the heroic shroom.}

Glancing at me is a lanky mushroom man, his cap a bright purple with red spots as his thin body stretches its arms and legs. Its eyes glow an ethereal blue as it finally nods and touches the round spheres attached to its body in various places before it looks around and finally gives me its undivided attention.

"Sup dungeon dude. I'm Fraz and I guess your my new boss?" It asks as I can't help letting out a cackle.
