"Ah, it's hot." I grumbled as I scratch my black messy hair. Despite wearing what I think is the most refreshing attire, which is a plain white shirt and black shorts, I still feel so hot. "Why must summer be this hot? Why must even there be a summer season?"
In order to combat the heat, I opened a cup of chocolate ice cream, my favorite. I sat on the sofa after directing our living room fan towards my direction. With this kind of weather, watching TV and lazing around as I finish my ice cream is definitely the best thing to do. As I was enjoying my summer peace, I heard our doorbell ringing.
"Ah, I'll get it." My mother, who just came out from our kitchen with her messy hair like mine, said as she wipes her hand with a rather cute pink apron she was wearing.
Seeing her going directly to the door, I simply nodded lazily and went back to watching this good old comedy show. Not long enough, as if it was trying to destroy my peace, I heard my mom shouting with excitement, the kind of excitement you'll usually hear when your mom is praising you in front of her friends. Because of that, I already know who rang the doorbell.
"Oh my! Arya, you look so beautiful. Please come in."
"Ah, Aunt, sorry for bothering."
Yep, it's definitely her. Just hearing her every-so-sweet voice is enough to make me shudder. I know when she visits, chaos comes after. Alright, time to increase the volume of the television and pretend I didn't hear her.
"Reve, Arya is here. I'm sorry Arya, Reve is just lazing around. Really, I don't know what to do with this
child." My mom voiced a complain as she let out a soft laugh. "Now, now. Seat there. Reve, I'll leave Arya to you. I'll just be in the kitchen."
She has already won my mom's favor. But worry not; I still have my escape route. I should just focus on this show and laugh a bit louder than usual to not hear what that girl will say. As I lay down my plan, I heard the soft footstep coming from behind me.
"Hey. Reve." The girl called out my name.
Let's pretend I didn't hear that. Oh, a funny scene. Nice timing! Now, I just need to laugh and pretend I didn't hear you. Wait, what are you doing? Why are you standing in front of the television? Didn't your parents tell you anything about manners? I didn't consider you taking such drastic action. Is it time to give up? I started complain in my mind as the girl blocked my view.
"Hey, I'm talking to you. If you keep on ignoring me, you know what will happen right?" The girl said in an irritated and demanding tone.
It's time to give up. The moment this girl voices her complain, I won't be hearing the end of it. After pausing for a while, I looked up and in front of me was a smiling girl. "Arya. Why are you here?"
Standing in front of me is a beautiful girl in her long white one piece dress. Her smooth white skin matched perfectly with her long black hair that glistens as the sun light strikes her. Since we are of the same age, we became really close when we were kids. After staring at me for quite some time, Arya cocked her head. She then let out a soft chuckle before greeting me with her soothing smile. Honestly, she's so beautiful in that summer dress but I can't tell her that or she will start to tease me.
"Well, because I am bored?" Arya replied as she tilts her head.
"Acting cute won't do you any good."
"Ah, so you do think I am cute."
"Shu-shut up. Ugly." Damn it, that slipped out of my mouth. I shouldn't have called her cute. I should've known that even a small complement will get to her head.
"What's with that attitude? You're sounding like a kid"
"Yeah yeah, sure. Anyway, what do you want to do?"
"Well, since I know that you have a lot of free time, go out with me."
"No."
"Eh! Come on. You have nothing to do anyway." Arya complained as she pouts.
"I don't want to leave the house. And besides, it is very hot outside. I'd rather play games here than go out, so no. Besides, I still have a quest to conquer." And by quest, I mean the quests from my games. I have planned to finish them during summer break.
"Meanie! At least accompany me for a while. Aren't we childhood friends?"
"That has nothing to do with this."
"Didn't you promise that you'll accompany me forever?"
"Hey! That was way back when we were still kids."
"Hmph! You aren't even an adult at heart."
"Quit kidding around. We are like, what, 18 years old already."
"Age is just a number. What matters is what's inside. Come on!" Arya argued as she tries to pull me who was comfortably sitting on the sofa. Seriously, what's the deal with this girl?
"Fine!" I yielded. Well, it's not like I really don't want to accompany her. I mean, we are childhood friends and we are fairly close. I don't really mind spending time with her. But, because of the way she asked, wouldn't it be fair to tease her for a bit?
"Thank you!" Arya replied excitedly. "I knew I could count on you. You act like that but you actually just want to spend time with me."
"So? Where and what are we going to do?"
"Ah, you're not denying it. Since it is our most awaited summer vacation, why don't we go on an adventure?"
"Huh? Adventure? What the heck are you saying?" Now that sounds quite interesting. Wait, I mustn't show that I am excited. Need to play it cool.
"Adventure as in adventure! Come with me!" Arya said cheerfully with sparkles in her eyes. Is she that excited? Well, I guess going outside and doing sum 'adventure' does sound appealing. But I should stay on guard knowing this is Arya we are talking about.
