Chapter 4: Chapter 4: Child of Viridian

After the Team Rocket Incident, Nurse Joy called the Viridian City Police Force and notified them about the recent move of Team Rocket.

The Police Force and the Jenny's began to worry and reported a file about Team Rocket to the League, letting them know that Team Rocket was making big moves.

But, the Viridian City Police Force needed to clean up the incident first, they rebuilt the Center as a whole and interrogated Gray.

They asked him some simple questions like; what did the grunts look like, what were their goals, etc.

Of course, the Police Force didn't get that many answers, but a clue is a clue, so they acted on it. They called other Police Forces to watch out for Team Rocket and peel their eyes out.

Why is the Kanto Police Force this cautious of Team Rocket? Well, Team Rocket is a big underground organization that was, and still is, in big adversity against the Kanto League.

The Kanto Region was almost overtaken by the organization one hundred years ago, this is why the League is so cautious and afraid of them.

Team Rocket never lost power. In the past one hundred years or so, they only attacked the League five times.

In those attacks, the League barely won, only winning because of numbers and champion-level trainers. But, the League noticed that Team Rocket's power never deteriorated, even years after their clash.

Enough said, back to Gray, after he replied to the Police Force, he went back to the Center and amassed food, but he also went to the Mart and purchased essential items for travel.

Currently, Gray and his team were on the road towards Viridian City. He has been in the city for two days and was tired of the big buildings and people.

"Alright, you three come out."

Gray pulled the Ultra Ball out of his belt and threw it up, he also aimed one of the balls near a pond.

The balls simultaneously opened, releasing Elekid, Spearow, and Magikarp at the same moment. The three roared, finally getting out of their confinement.

Elekid smirked and wildly spun his arms around, causing electricity to dance around them.

Magikarp just roared and jumped up out of the pond, and crashed back down, making a ripple effect in the pond.

Spearow just soared in the sky, executing difficult acrobatics movements. Finally, after a few seconds, he eventually perched on Gray's right shoulder, preening his wings.

{Spearow, the Tiny Bird Pokémon. This bird has tremendous strength, is capable of fighting multiple opponents at once, it is said that if a person makes a Spearow angry, the whole flock will attack.

Type: Normal/Flying

Ability: Sniper

Gender: Male

Moves:

-Peck, Focus Energy, Fury Attack, Pursuit,}

In the past two days in Viridian City, Gray accomplished everything he planned to fulfill. He and Elekid trainer a little bit, he did some cardio, purchased items, etc.

Furthermore, he did the loyalty test to Spearow as well, which worked fast. The hatred in him was easily exploited, it was the same with Magikarp.

But, not only he got Spearow's loyalty, but he also got recognition to be its trainer. That solidified Spearow's loyalty too, making Gray pleased.

Furthermore, Gray discovered who was the one who caused the large thunderclap which slaughtered a whole flock of Spearow. It was the boy he saw with the Pikachu, it was the only person he could assume. He had an Electric-type Pokémon, plus the Pikachu was slightly wounded

"Alright, now that we are out of the city, I want to inform you all of something. From today forward, I will assign you three and future members' training regimens. It starts today, and I'll explain it when we reach Viridian Forest."

The Spearow was confused, training regimen? What's that? But the other two knew what it was, Elekid had already started his, and Magikarp saw what it meant.

Elekid's training regimen consists of: Running 3km with boulders attached, increasing his endurance, stamina, and strength.

Gray is currently conditioning Elekid to withstand his future regimen, after all, Elekid is still a child. A child is a child, even if you're a Pokémon.

"Also, Spearow, you are going to be in the front today, I want to see how you are in action. I have high expectations for you if you don't meet them, well the wild can welcome you back."

Spearow's eyes gleamed, accepting Gray's challenge head-on. He was never the one who backed out in a fight, even if the odds were against him.

This is why he fought the Pikachu head-on, he wasn't scared of any super-effective moves. The Pikachu and its trainer disrupted his flock's peace so they fought against it.

Sadly, they failed, miserably.

Entering Viridian Forest, a calm, soothing atmosphere surrounded Gray. He had never experienced something like this before.

The serene voice of the forest made him loosened up, his tense, calculative persona was washed away by something else; peace.

"Hm, this feels nice. It's… Soothing."

Gray closed his eyes and sat beneath a tree, he was indulged in his consciousness. Inside was a vast area, it is seemingly endless.

Water surrounded the place, however, Gray stood nonetheless. He opened his eyes but found himself nowhere in Viridian Forest, he cautiously looked around and saw a large iron door behind him.

Gray's hand unconsciously moved towards the enormous door, but when he felt the coldness of it, he was transported back to Viridian Forest.

The curiosity in Gray died out, he let out a sigh, he was experiencing one of his hallucinations again. He always sees himself in the same spot when he gets too relaxed.

"But, this time, I can hear everything."

Gray whispered, closing his eyes and focusing on his sense of sound. He can hear the rustling of the bushes, the whispers of the wind, the dancing leaves, etc.

[Please protect our forest, Child of Viridian. A Pokémon has entered the forest and wreaked havoc, it exists south of where you sit. Take care, young one.]

Gray's eyes widened in surprise, where did that voice come from. Who was that? The voice carried a tone of wisdom and intelligence like it had lived a very long life.

"Where are you?! Who's this 'Child of Viridian!' Answer me!"

He shouted, Gray was panicking, who could enter his mind. A powerful Psychic-type Pokémon? But why?

[South, South, South, South…]

The voice multiplied, making Gray's head throb in discomfort. The voices were not only multiplying, but they all had different kinds of tones.

After a few seconds, the voices slowly ended, ending the pain in Gray's head. He was finally able to think, the voice intercepted his thoughts because of their volume.

But, once Gray consumed the information he got from them, his eyes lightened up. By the sound of their tone, they were worried about a certain Pokémon, and that Pokémon created some turmoil in the forest since it was not supposed to be in Viridian Forest.

Gray saw this as an opportunity, an opportunity to obtain a powerful Pokémon in his arsenal.

"South huh… I guess this will take a while."

Deep inside Viridian Forest, a shrine glowed purple. A few seconds later, many Pokémon started to get attracted to it and departed to see the shrine.

These Pokémon were hostile at first, but they were silenced by a strong gust of wind.

[A Child of Viridian has awoken, only time will tell if they side with the light or the dark. But, we will always support the children of the forest. Now, scatter!]

A booming voice shook the forest, ordering the hundreds of Pokémon that were present. They roared in respect and took off.

Suddenly, the shrine glowed brighter, the purple light was now with a new color, gray. Both danced with each other. Moments later, the colors erupted, ending the breath of wind.

-o-

It has been hours since Gray entered the forest, he has established what he will do, first; find an area with tall trees and a pond, second; explore the forest and find the Pokémon that the voices notified him about.

He is still confused and appalled about the voices, but he will put that aside for the Pokémon, Gray made a mental note about the voices for later.

"Alright, Spearow, probe the forest for a pond and tall trees, then come back to where I am afterward."

Spearow got released with a loud screech, cringing for the sound, Gray put his hands on his ears and signaled Spearow to go ahead and do what he was asked.

The bird Pokémon flew off to the sky, leaving Gray's vision. The teenager only smiled, sitting under the shade of a tree.

Rummaging his backpack, he grabbed his notes and Pokédex.

"Hm… Beedrill huh, I wonder if I can find a Weedle that has great potential. I would gladly teach a Weedle and make it a strong weapon."

Gray's eyes gained a small light, looking at the Pokédex entry of Beedrill. Looks like he had found a perfect Pokémon for the Rock-type Gym.

{Beedrill, the Poison Bee Pokémon. It is said that the poison of a Beedrill can kill 20 Taurus immediately, the stingers of the Pokémon can also thrust through steel if trained properly. That's why this Pokémon is associated with evil.

Type: Bug/Poison

Ability: Swarm/Sniper

Gender: Male/Female}

The Pokédex's mechanical voice rang out, painting a small smile on Gray's face. He took a pen and wrote down more ideas and plans for the future.

His mind was now running fully, the only goal he has now is crushing the Rock-type Gym. And to do that, he needs plans. His team isn't great for fighting Rock-type Pokémon, Elekid is an Electric-type, some Rock-type has the secondary typing of Ground.

Magikarp is a great one, but she isn't ready to evolve yet and is practically useless at the moment. And don't exclude Spearow's typing.

Gray needs a valid plan to win against the first Gym.

"Elekid needs agile movements, he can fight for himself with Brick Break. But he is young so his stamina will run out pretty fast. Magikarp isn't available at the moment, and Spearow is not a great matchup against them. So I need a new Pokémon to stand against the first Gym."

His concentration was at the peak, his hand was moving, while his mind was running.

Gray was always the type of guy who came prepared, he would come up with ideas for four to six days until he acted on them.

After a few seconds, an audible screech rang throughout the forest, it reached Gray's ears, and his smile changed into a smirk.

Then, a blur flew right past Gray, going up instantly the blur went straight down, landing on Gray's shoulder.

"Hey, did you find anything?"

Spearow nodded rapidly, his arms pointing at the south, indicating he found a small area where a pond resides.

"Okay, lead me there."
