Chapter 7: I think I would hate you
Her stepmother was very tipsy. She managed to come inside the living room and she wasn't even able to stand appropriately. She took the help of walls. They all were watching her.
"Lisa, my StepDaughter yOu kNow I hAte yoU so muCh. ANd iTs not mY fauLT But of yoUr dAd," her stepmother said unconsciously.
Lisa moved her gaze towards her dad. But her dad gave her no reaction to what her stepmother said.
"What is she talking about?" Lisa asked but her stepmother interrupted her.
"You are my daughter, no, actually stepdaughter. How can I be your mother right? Your mother is dead. And I'm so happy to know that. She came in between me and your dad. So, I made your dad kill-," she was about to finish her sentence but her dad held her wrist and took her drunk figure to her room.
Lisa could understand the situation then even more clearly.
"He killed my mother," Lisa said while a tear lowered from her eye. Her dad came and asked Lisa to talk in privacy. But Lisa declined to talk to him.
" Fucking, now tell me everything before I hate you more," Lisa said while maintaining her eye contact with her dad. Her dad made her calm down and sit down.
" Oh stop it, I'm fed up with your fake concern," Lisa shouted at him, making his eyes widened.
"Okay, calm down, I think this is the day for you to know the truth," her dad whispered.
"Now open your shit," Lisa said with a cold expression.
"I killed your mother," her dad said in one go, without any hesitation. Lisa stood there with stillness, she couldn't imagine that her dad would do something like that. But he did. Her dad tried to keep his hand on her shoulder but she yanked and took some steps behind.
"Lisa, you don't know the exact situation. Please listen to me. I can make everything right for you," her dad said trying to convince Lisa to listen to him.
"What else is left to listen? huh? Your love story with that dirty lady," Lisa said with an angry expression. "First, listen to me please," her dad begged.
"You must be happy after that," Lisa said.
"Please, just one time listen," her dad said with tears in his eyes. Louis pointed at Lisa to listen to him.
"Okay," Lisa said, turning around.
Her dad stood up and wiped his tears as he thought that Lisa would forgive him.
"I got married to your mother because I loved her, I was enjoying my life with her but one day, I met your stepmother with experiences. She was not good but soon I fell in love with her not knowing much about her business. I started hanging out with her. And soon I came to know about her business of drugs. I tried to escape from there but she threatened me to either die or stay with her. I had no choice other than to stay with her. She forced me because she didn't want to get caught by any foolish mistakes of her partners. I cursed myself for hiding this from your mother. Soon I got involved in drug dealing. One day, I was going towards your stepmother for taking drugs from her to give to the third party in exchange for money but I wasn't aware that your mother was attending me till the end. She caught me with your stepmother. She inquired me for all my doing and about your stepmother. I couldn't think of any excuse but then heard her saying about disclosing our business to the police. Your stepmother was hiding her face because she didn't want to be seen by any unknown. She made her way towards the exit when your stepmother instructed me to stop her. She started running fast but your stepmother made her stop in the way still hiding her face. Your mother tried to escape by hook or crook but failed. She said that she will tell everything to the police. Your stepmother took off her gun and pointed at her. I tried to stop her but being so stubborn, she didn't agree with me. Somehow, she managed to escape and your stepmother handed me the gun to shoot her. My hands were shaking because I loved her. She yelled at me to shoot otherwise she would go out of our sight. I broke down when I heard the sound of firing. Your stepmother sighed and made her towards the exit to hide your mother's dead body. I know I was so selfish back then. I killed my wife because of money. Your stepmother-," he was about to say but some sound of falling caught his attention. He saw Lisa's figure on the floor crying out loud. He went to pick up her and she warned him not to come near.
"I thought that my mother died in an accident but I didn't know about this. I could stop my mother from following you if I was not in school that time," Lisa cursed herself.
"Lisa, I'm sorry," her dad apologised but it was of no use.
"Your so-called sorry can bring my mother back to her life? huh? I can not trust you that you even loved my mother," Lisa said.
"I didn't know what I was doing, I was not in my senses. I only thought about myself," her dad whispered.
"Even I loved you so much. I thought that what if I don't have a mother to love but my dad can love me for her but I think I will start hating you now even more than I loved you," Lisa said with tears flowing down her eyes.
"No, please I already lost your mother because of my stupidity but I don't want to lose someone I love," she said, falling on his knees for forgiveness from Lisa.
"Love word doesn't suit your tongue, so don't say that again," Lisa said. Her dad cried in front of Lisa but she didn't even look at him.
"I don't think I can even call you dad again," with that phrase Lisa went straight to her room. Louis followed her because he also thought that her dad made a big mistake so, he should realise that.
Louis forgot to lock the door and sat beside her.
He was feeling bad for Lisa. He thought of making her calm down but before he could say anything Lisa hugged him tightly and cried out her heart. She couldn't even think of her dad behind her mother's death.
"I loved him so much but I guess today I lost him for life," Lisa said to Louis. Louis caressed her shoulders before hugging her crying figure back.
On the other hand, her dad cried a lot and went into Lisa's room. He knocked to get her attention towards him but Lisa knew.
"Get out of my room. I don't want to see the person who killed his wife for money. Get out," Lisa said.
"I'm sorry again, please forgive me," her dad said, asking for forgiveness but Lisa didn't pay any attention to his words. And asked Louis to lock the door. He looked at her dad, he hummed in response. Louis locked the door. He didn't know what to say to Lisa. So, he just caressed her and wiped her tears from her face.
