Chapter 29: Moving on
"Set up a defensive barrier. Move more men on the front and back gates." Wind commanded and the elders complied. There was a grave atmosphere. Everyone hurriedly prepared to defend Ruby Clan's stronghold. Their attack on Diamond clan earlier had failed miserably.
Officially Wind had managed to rescue Lan but Ruby Wang, the clan lord actually perished in war. Wind had told Lin and others that Wang was slain by Shi who used an Empyrean level weapon. Wind of course glorified Wang but did not denounce Shi or accuse him of using underhanded methods either. In Wind's made-up version of the battle, he managed to instill fear in Ruby clan while curbing any anger for the loss of their leader but he also did not step up to take complete leadership. Hence why he had faked that shoulder injury earlier, which he purposely did not let be healed entirely to keep everyone's morale weak. This was his scheme to facilitate the annexation ploy. He also said that he could only manage to rescue Lin and escape. Wang's corpse had to be left behind.
"They're here." Guang said solemnly as his eyes glowed white. He was standing by Wind's side.
"To arms!" Wind shouted and many swords were unsheathed. Everyone gritted their teeth anxiously. The newly created wooden walls were not durable enough and had many small holes in them. They could see outside as the Diamond clan's forces gathered around Ruby clan's stronghold. Diamond Shi walked forth to the front. Beside him, two elders carried a stretcher in which Ruby Wang's corpse was lying. His head had been sewed to the body from neck.
"Ruby clan! Your clan lord is dead! Your guest is deeply injured by my Empyrean level weapon. Many of your warriors have perished. You are surrounded as well. There is no escape for you. There is no victory for you even if you fight with your lives on the line." Shi shouted, making himself audible to everyone.
"I've brought your clan lord's carcass. Take it and give him a proper burial. He fought bravely like a true warrior and hence deserves a proper farewell unto the afterlife." Shi continued. "Our Diamond clan shall await here until you're done with the burial and the rites. Thereafter you may fight us to your certain deaths. Or…join us instead!"
A commotion broke out in the Ruby clan as everyone whispered to each other hearing Diamond Clan's proposal. Not only had Diamond Shi showed courtesy to Ruby Clan's lord even after his death, he was also offering Ruby clan to join his clan! Who in these times would be so righteous?
"I guarantee you that if you become our underlings, we will treat you like our kin and you shall not be exploited." Diamond Shi went on with his speech. "Equal rights, equal benefits and you'll get to keep your private lands too. Diamond clan however will take over your clan's assets and stronghold. But fear not. No more blood shall be spilled henceforth, lest you want to battle it out with us; which we are not afraid of either."
"How can we trust you?" Wind suddenly called out, voicing what everyone was thinking of.
"Is that you, Dr. Genji?" Shi asked in turn. "I remember your voice and the sheen of your green jade blade. You've fought well against me and are worthy of my respect. I have brought Ruby Wang's corpse. Is that not a proof enough of my sincerity? I can still wage an attack on Ruby clan but I am not in favor of spilling unnecessary blood."
"This war began due to your actions in the first place. You abducted Ruby clan's young mistress. What do you have to say about that?" Wind asked.
"That girl has a unique talent that I learned of." Shi began his pre-practiced lies. "I merely wanted to utilize her prowess for the good of my clan. I intended to adopt her as I have no heir. I was greedy indeed & selfish too. But to show my sincerity, I will give you my word with both the clans as audience right here, that I will not lay a hand on that girl and let her have her freedom. Is that enough for you to trust me? I am willing to adopt Wang's son instead and he can inherit both our clans after me."
"...!" Everyone was stunned. Shi was a good actor and leader. Also with Wind's support he was able to come out clean, show kindness and offer the best to Ruby clan in exchange of a peaceful annexation.
"Dr. Genji, with you leading us, we're sure we can win." An elder said to Wind. But Wind shook his head and sighed.
"I'm afraid, despite being a level higher than the Diamond clan's lord, I am unable to display my full power. That injury has damaged a crucial energy node which is disrupting my chi flow." Wind said. "Also, I am a doctor by profession. My fighting skills cannot outshine Diamond Shi."
Everyone fell silent.
"If you all wish to fight to death, I will still lead you." Wind then said solemnly. "This is your clan's future. You all can decide what to do. I am merely a guest. I have been treated well by the deceased clan lord in the recent past so I will repay that by supporting Ruby Clan."
This was a load of bullshit. Wind was basically implying that he is not a part of Ruby clan and hence is free to leave but he is still willing to die for them to repay their hospitality. Who in the right mind would actually do that? Wind had already repaid Ruby clan by rescuing Lan. He owed nothing to them now. Not to mention, he was seriously injured. Of course this too was a self inflicted injury as part of his façade.
Everyone shook their heads. Then Wind looked at Lin.
"Ruby Lin, you're the clan mistress. What do you say to this?" He asked.
"We do not have the power to defeat Diamond clan." Lin said gravely. "We are sure to die if we fight. I am not afraid of death but I want our children to live on. Defeat means annihilation and slavery. Since Diamond clan is offering freedom, peace and equality in exchange of submission…I am ashamed to say, but this is the best option for us."
Wind nodded. Despite her weak stance, this woman was still wise enough to know when to give in. Wind had no hand in Lin's decision. This was her own wish.
"Since my Yoro will be made the young master of both clans…" Fenfang finally spoke up. "This means we will not be slave to Diamond clan. We will be equals and even more so after my son becomes the next clan lord. I agree to surrender."
Wind snorted inwardly. This woman was simply a coward and an opportunist. As for Yoro becoming Clan Lord…what bullshit! He wasn't even man enough to get an erection. How could he lead two clans? This was all just a ploy to appease the Ruby clan's warriors.
"Since the mistresses agree; we can also only agree to their wish." An elder spoke.
"I am not afraid of death either. But I too want my children to live on and in freedom too." Another elder spoke.
"Then, let's surrender."

One by one, everyone agreed to it. Surrender proceeded peacefully. Diamond Clan successfully occupied Ruby clan's territory and annexed them. Ruby Wang was buried the next day and Yoro was officially adopted by Shi.
Everything went smoothly. By evening, Wind and Shi met in Shi's new room. He had naturally taken over Wang's room. He needed to be present inside Ruby clan's stronghold for long to ensure stability.
"This is the technique that I cultivate." Diamond Shi spoke as he handed a scroll to Wind.
As Wind held it and opened it, he read through its contents casually. "Spear of the Chieftain?" He uttered.
"Yes. It's an Empyrean level technique derived from an ancient incomplete manuscript found in a ruin by my grandfather. He kept it a family secret & didn't reveal it to the Emperor. But I assure you, it is so powerful that it can rival low level Elemental techniques." Shi explained.
"I believe you." Wind nodded. "Even though your battle with Wang was fake, if your technique was weaker than his, then he would have waged war on you decades ago."
Shi nodded. He realized that Wind was truly a smart and experienced cultivator. He had a crafty mind too.
"Then this here is Wang's elemental technique that I acquired through his first wife." Wind said, taking out a scroll from his storage ring and handed it to Shi. "I've made a copy of it for myself already."
"Hmm… great. This here is your external elder badge." Shi said, taking out a diamond shaped metal badge. "It has an enchantment on it which is linked to Diamond Clan's emergency beacon. All you have to do is insert your energy or chi into it to activate it."
Wind nodded. "Then, I'd like to have an advanced salary of a year." He smiled shamelessly. As an external elder, he was entitled to a salary from the Diamond Clan. But demanding a full year's salary in advance when he didn't even intend to do anything for the clan; was truly shameless. But Shi chuckled and took out one of the storage rings from his fingers and handed it to Wind.
"This ring contains the year long salary worth of gold and other resources that you would have been given, had you decided to stay with us." Shi spoke. Wind nodded taking it from him. He was pleased by Shi's foresight. Shi knew that Wind would be leaving shortly and might not return for long. Hence he anticipated such a demand from Wind and prepared for it in advance. Working with smart people is always a pleasing experience. Wind sent his energy inside the ring and got the rough estimate of the wealth inside. The ring contained about 610,000 gold coins and numerous resources in form of yang pills, yin pills & yin water and precious stones and herbs which are helpful in cultivation.
At this moment, there was a knock on the door. The guard voiced out.
"Clan Lord, Ruby clan's former mistress Fanfang is here to meet you." He said.
Inside the room, Shi and Wind smiled. It was a knowing smile that men could easily decipher.
"Well, I'll be taking my leave then. I'll leave a word before I embark on my journey." Wind said to Shi getting up. "Best wishes to you Clan Lord."
"Take care." Shi replied. "& thank you. Good luck on your adventures."
The two of them smiled and shook hands.
"Send her in!" Shi called out to the guard and as Wind neared the door and the door opened, his gaze met with Fenfang who was surprised at finding Wind. She hesitantly looked down and sideways, biting her lower lip. The reason…she was wearing a tight fitting translucent white gown which revealed her beautiful assets easily.
The reason why Fenfang was meeting Diamond Shi was something Wind & Shi understood already, but Fenfang's dress only made it obvious. She felt embarrassed and a pinkish tint appeared on her pretty face.
Wind stared at Fenfang from top to bottom, taking in her beauty and sighed. He had an urge to fuck her, but he didn't reveal it. Instead he bowed in a gentlemanly manner.
"Greeting to clan mistress." Wind said with a smile.
"G…greetings Dr. Genji." Fenfang replied. "I am not the clan mistress any longer."

The reason why Fenfang was here was to woo Diamond Shi into marrying her, so that she could retain her clan mistress title and remain rich and protected. Without further talk, they nodded and Wind left, while Fenfang entered Shi's room, closing the door behind her.
"You wished to see me, Missus Fenfang?" Diamond Shi asked. "Is something the matter?"
"Yes, well…" Fenfang said cat-walking towards Shi. "I wanted to ask if you're really going to adopt my son."
"Of course." Shi answered taking in Fenfang's seductive moves.
"Well, this leaves me in an awkward position." Fenfang said. "If someone enquires about Yoro's parents anytime in the future, there'd be your name as his father and my name as his mother. But…but we…the two of us aren't…m…married." She said blushing and stammering and looking down at the floor while tugging on her white gown. She was good at acting. Her performance was cute. Shi smiled and chuckled in his heart, shaking his head.
"Well, that can be arranged…" Shi said walking towards Fenfang. "Missus Fenfang, you're so beautiful and young. If I had met you earlier, I wouldn't be a bachelor at this age." He said, gently grasping her hands and caressed them with his thumbs. As Fenfang looked up to meet Shi's gaze, passion sparked in her heart.

"What do these pills do?" Shi asked with a frown.
"These are my own invention." Wind said sipping his wine. "I call them- Love Drug. Red pill is for male, pink pill is for female. Even a small quantity of the pill do the job. But it must not be used on multiple people otherwise you'll have a mental mess on your hands." Wind warned.
"Oh?" Shi uttered and fell silent, waiting for more explanation.
"When a man and woman ingest these pills, they will feel incredible attraction towards one another. Within two hours they must mate, to make the effects permanent and then the female will fall in love with the male without realizing that it's due to the effect of drug." Wind said. "Now…I heard that Sulphur clan lord has only one daughter who is of ripe age for wedding…"
"...!" Shi jumped up speechlessly. He understood the gravity of this love drug's potential. He could see what Wind meant! If he used the love drug on Sulphur clan…the third powerhouse of the Stones city; he'd be able to become son in law of their clan lord, gaining the allegiance of their clan through marriage! Shi stared at Wind for a long two minutes while planning countless things. He finally took a deep breath and sat down.
"Why would you give me this?" Shi asked.
Wind shrugged. "I'll be honest with you, Diamond Shi." He smiled tightly. "I have some big plans. I need powerful allies and lots of finances. The richer you get, the more beneficial it will be for me in the future. Rest assured, by helping me in my endeavors, you'll benefit even more than now."
"..." Shi was at a loss for words. He had several complex emotions. His mind was in chaos and running on full throttle.
"It's all for the future." Wind continued. "Take your time with the plans of Stones city. You're a wise merchant and a powerful cultivator. I have faith in your success."
Shi nodded. "You're leaving today? When will we be meeting again?"
"Yes, well I cannot say. I intend to travel throughout the Ji empire and even in other countries." He shrugged. "Well if I run into trouble and ask for help, then we might meet abruptly & sooner than you think." He chuckled.
"I'll rush over whenever you need my aid." Shi smiled and said. Initially he thought that he'll just send some elders if Wind calls for reinforcements. But after this conversation he realized that Wind was someone with unfathomable depths and a bright future. He must be sincere to him to get on his good side. At the same time he internally shook his head at Wang's misfortune who had betrayed this powerful ally for some short term profits.
"Well I'll take my leave then." Wind said getting up. "No need to see me off." He held out his right hand.
"Good luck for your adventures, Mr. Genji." Shi said shaking hands with Wind firmly.

In Lin's room Lan slowly opened her eyes and saw the familiar ceiling.
"Lan, you've awoken...!" Lin said in a groggy voice as she flung herself onto her daughter, hugging her and crying incessantly. She had been awake and crying silently, watching over Lan all this time.
"Mother…You're here." Lan uttered.
"Yes Lan, I'm here. You're safe now in our home." Lin said sobbing.
"Wh...what had happened to me?" She asked. "I…" She muttered frowning, trying to remember. "I was…captured by some bad men. They…they…!" Lin's eyes welled up and she started sobbing.
"I know baby." Lin patted Lan as she hugged her. "You were kidnapped by the Diamond Clan. A lot many things happened afterwards. But Master Genji saved you and brought you back."
"Master…" Lan uttered as Wind's image flashed in her mind. "Where is he…?"
"I'm right here." Wind said as he walked into her sight. He had just entered the room while Lin and Lan were talking.
"Master…" Lan uttered reaching out towards him. Wind sat down beside her and got hugged by Lan.
"There-there." Wind patted her back comfortingly. "You're fine now. I'm here for you."
"Oh, master!" Lan sobbed heavily. She had gone through a traumatic experience even though she didn't remember much of it. Now that she was finally in Wind's arms, she relaxed and her emotions overflowed through her tears.
After a few minutes of consoling, Wind strokes Lan's hair and asked, "Do you not remember anything that happened after you were kidnapped?"
"No. I cannot recall…" Lan said absently as she tried to remember, but failed. This was still good for Wind. Lan didn't remember anything including Wind's scheme with Shi. They had literally discussed it while screwing her. Her memories had failed her due to her being in a drugged state and in effect of dual cultivation techniques during the whole time.
"Hmm, well it's ok. Everything is fine now." Wind said. "Your mother will update you with what has happened while you were unconscious." Saying so, Wind excused himself. He had to prepare for the journey ahead. All his stuff was actually in his storage rings. He however needed to settle some matters before moving on.

"Guang, would you like to accompany me?" Wind casually asked. Currently all his concubines had gathered in his room as per his command.
"I uh…" Guang hesitated. He didn't want to offend Wind but he didn't want to continue travelling either. If possible, he'd like to settle in Ruby/Diamond clan territory, buy a small piece of land and start a life with Rima. Thinking of Rima, he palpitated. Wind didn't wait long for Guang's answer.

"Th-thank you." Guang said with a smile. "Wait…what?" His eyes widened as he recalled Wind's last words. 'Live peacefully with Rima!'

He glanced at Rima who was staring at the floor and was tugging onto Guang's sleeve. Wind shook his head. "I am not an enemy of love. The two of you may carry on living together happily. I will not separate you."
Rima and Guang felt a mix of emotions. They were afraid, relaxed, happy, guilty… Rima finally uttered. "Th…thank you Young Master."
Wind snorted lightly before glancing at Guang.
"Say…how about you trade your technique with me?" He asked Guang, surprising him. "10 thousand Li sight is an Empyrean technique. It will be beneficial to me. And I can give you a dual cultivation technique that you can practice with Rima and it will help you two in raising your cultivation levels."
"…" Guang pondered at once. Surely he had gotten this technique from his father but it wasn't exclusive to Guang's family alone. This technique belonged to the Emperor and was naturally available for sale in the Empyrean libraries. Wind could buy it anytime. But giving it to him by himself, would earn Guang a dual cultivation technique that he desperately needed!
"I agree." Guang finally said, fumbling in his storage ring which was old and rusty, inherited from his long deceased father. From it, he took out an old scroll and handed to Wind.
Checking its contents, Wind nodded and similarly took out a self written scroll.
"This is called Nine Pagoda Technique." Wind said to Guang and smirked. Guang immediately understood some specifics of the technique and smiled awkwardly. "It will give you 9 hours worth erection and will give slightly more benefits to the male at initial levels. However, female will gain more benefits in the latter levels. It has 9 levels in total and is suitable for cultivators below Master realm."
"Thank you." Guang said and bowed.
"You're welcome." Wind said. He was inwardly chuckling evilly though. Nine Pagoda Technique actually required an addition of male participants with each next level. So the 2nd level would mean 2 men, 3rd level would mean 3 men. All the way up to 9th level where 9 men would be doing intercourse with a single female! This was a prank Wind pulled on Rima and Guang. "You want to follow me?" Wind raised an eyebrow.
"Yes. I wish to learn medicine and techniques from you." Yoro replied. But Wind shook his head.
"What you want is to have endless sex with females and you want me to impart dual cultivation techniques to you for the same reason. You don't want to be a doctor. At least show me some sincerity, you punk!" Wind scolded him baring Yoro's thoughts.
"…" Yoro was stumped and fell silent at once.
"Y…young Master!" At this point, Lavanya cried out, gaining his attention. She was almost sobbing as she stared at the floor and uttered. "Y…Yoro raped me." She complained.
"He…he raped me too!" Kanya also cried out, pointing finger at Yoro angrily. "He has poisoned me and the only antidote is in…in his…balls." She flustered.
Wind scoffed at the two girls. "What a joke. Lavanya your cultivation level is higher than Yoro's. He couldn't have raped you if you wouldn't have let him. So stop your childish complaint. As for you, Kanya." He stared at her. "Same goes for you. How could he force himself on you, given your higher cultivation? Lest you were too distracted while…bouncing on his penis?"
Kanya's face turned red with shame. She looked down with clenched fists and didn't dare to look up.
"But no matter…" Wind uttered again as he took out two different colored darts from his storage ring and before anyone could react, he flung these at Yoro and Kanya, stabbing Yoro in the neck and Kanya on her bosom.
"This…what have you…!" Yoro started.
"I've poisoned you. It's a unique poison similar to the one you used on Kanya. Wind had insisted on taking Lan with him as she wouldn't be safe in the clan. It was best for her to get away from Stones city. Wind had felt pity for her plus he wanted her Earth elemental traits too. Also, with Lan's unique constitution, she could become a very powerful cultivator in the future and would be of great aid to Wind who had plans of fighting Emperor Jiao! Lan climbed on the black horse while Wind climbed on the white horse. They looked unique. Wind was wearing all white and had white skin while Lan was wearing all black and had black skin. Coupled with their horses matching with their colors, they looked like a yin-yang couple.
"Young master!" Xui cried out. "Are you not taking us along?"
"Don't abandon us, young master!" Sarza cried out too.

Without much further ado, Wind left along with Lan. They strode towards North, riding through the cool wind.
Wind sighed. This whole fiasco in the Stones city had left a bad taste in his mouth. Not only did his concubines betray him, they also offended his Ian technique by doing so.
