Chapter 8: At the last second

There was minimal time to discuss tactics. Reia and Aram did not know each other and there was no idea how to connect their two superpowers together. They also did not know what superpowers David and Ksyu had. Aram only guessed about David's passive superpower, but that was not enough.

"I propose to do it as follows," Reia started. "Having looked at the previous fight, I can assume that it is best to stay in defense and play for time. It would be foolish to use darkness in an open space, I will fall to the floor from exhaustion at the same second."

"Can't you create darkness in one part of their body?" Aram asked. "Let's say in the eyes?"

"It's a good idea, but you see, I'm not so good at managing my active superpower yet."

"Understood."

"Our main goal will be not to fall into a trap. So we should defend each other."

"I can attack them with my chains if they get too close."

Reia and Aram exited from the left side of the arena. David and Ksyu went out from the right.

"How nice, they came out in pairs," William said with a smile.

"Maybe they were by accident," Felix replied.

"Who will you bet on?"

"I like the dark-haired girl. So much anger in her eyes. She would rather die than let herself be conquered."

"And I like that couple. They look like two little conspirators."

Ksyu began to stretch her legs and arms. David closed his eyes, concentrated, and abruptly opened them.

"What the hell is this?" Reia leaned down, holding her head.

"Broken, tossed. Nobody needs you. Everyone will use you," different voices screamed in her head.

At the same time, the same thing happened to Aram as when he first met David. The headache drove them closer and closer to the floor.

"Stand up and watch them!" Reia shouted. Her voice was full of pain. "We mustn't let them out of sight. Who knows what their superpowers are."

Reia was right. David and Ksyu quickly ran towards them.

"We have little time," Ksyu said.

"Got it," David replied. "Give me your hand."

While running, David and Ksyu shook hands and parted.

"Come here, asshole!" David shouted to Aram.

"Oh, you!" Aram shouted. "This time I'll show you who is who!"

Aram stretched out his hand and let the chain go in the direction of David. David dodged from the left, but at the same moment, another chain hit him from the right and began to twine around his body.

"Heck! Heck! Heck!" David shouted. He fought desperately against the chain, but they could not be broken that way.

"That's how I get revenge! See who is the strongest," Aram said and turned to Reia.

But he clearly did not expect to see two Reias behind him at once.

"Aram, help me!" Reia from the left shouted.

"No! Don't listen to her! She is Ksyu!" Reia from the right shouted.

"She's lying! I am the real Reia! You have to help me! Have you forgotten how we agreed?" Reia from the left said.

"What? You!" Reia from the right shouted and decided to attack Reia from the left.

"Aram!" Reia from the left shouted.

Aram ran towards Reia from the right and extended his hand forward. The chain went over Reia's head, but she managed to sit down in time. Aram used the same tactics as with David and threw the chain from below. It worked. Reia fell.

"You're a moron, just a moron!" she shouted.

"At that moment, someone hit Aram on the head, and he fell. The time on the clock showed that there was one second left. William stood up to announce the winner when suddenly he noticed that the fake Reia was lying on the floor, and the real one put her foot on her head.

"I told you, she will win," Felix said.

"We'll check it now," William replied and continued. "Dear students, could you please cancel your abilities so that we can announce the correct result of the battle?"Reia, who was lying head down, hit the ground with her fist.

"Damn," she said and turned back. The real Reia put her leg down so Ksyu could turn, but there was no girl. It was David.

"What?" she wondered.

"What?" he mimicked. "Help me get up better. And remove these chains from Ksyu."Reia turned her head and in the place of David, she saw Ksyu, who was chained.

"How interesting," William said. "Winners of this tour are Reia and Aram. Congratulations."Whispers swept through the hall. Nobody understood what happened at the last second.

"What kind of superpower it was. I didn't even have time to blink when she was above his head," asked one of the students.

"Maybe she cheated?" said the second.

"Wake up, it is a duel of people with superpowers. How can you cheat here?"

"I do not know. Then how can you explain what just happened?"

"I know," a white-haired young boy sitting at the very end of the arena replied.
