Chapter 18: Making Plans

Waking up the next day surely felt weird. After considering all I did last night, I'm currently having a mental freakout. 'Shit, what if people find out. Vigilante work is outlawed. Did I just screw up my life? I used like, all of my powers. If I go to U.A, All Might or someone else might know.' "Ota! Get out of your room and come eat breakfast. Takao called and invited you to hang out at his house today, so come in here and let's talk about it," my mom calls out from down the hall.

"Coming!" I yell back and smack my face between my hands. 'Alright. Get over it pal. What happened happened. Nothing we can do about that. Now we need to think. Last night I used teleportation, spatial bullets, velocity, matter manipulation, and spatial cut. Right now I'm registered as having teleportation, portals, and no friction. It shouldn't tie me to the scene.' As I contemplate my current actions and future plans, I exit my room and enter the kitchen with my mom.

As we eat breakfast and talk, I take the opportunity to flip over to the news on a TV situated in the living room. "Last night at around 2am the Soga clan, a previously in hiding yakuza group, was broken into and taken down by a vigilante. The description given to us by the pro hero, All Might, that was present at the scene was of a 5'5 male wearing a black and gray jumpsuit. The quirk of this person at the time cannot be determined due to conflicting evidence. Victims say the person could appear and disappear, bend objects to their will, and open portals around the area. All Might committed that the man said he had a mind altering quirk which could justify the conflicting reports, but we are unable to make a clear report on what their quirk might really be."

The news report continued in the background as we ate, lucky they don't have much on me as I'm actually only 5'0. Eventually my father came into the room and sat down with me and my mother and we had a nice chat about my hero training. "You know, one of these days me and your father should come out and watch you," my mother stated. "Didn't yall do that less than 3 months ago," I objected. "Exactly, too long for us to not see the forest and the Pussycats at work." My mother wasn't taking a no for an answer, so I resigned to bring them along tomorrow.

"Oh yeah, hey dad," I turned, looking towards my father. He looked up from his breakfast replying with a little bit of gravy on his chin, "Hmm?" "I was thinking about using my quirk to make a new metal fabric then pattening it and selling it. I looked up the laws regarding quirk use for intellectual property and patenting laws for minors. I need you to sign with me if we go to the Patent Office," I replied, getting a curious look from my father. He sits up straight at the table and raises an eyebrow at me whipping the gravy off his chin.

"I didn't know you had this idea. Tell me about it, what are you going to do with your patent?" My father leans back and looks at me as I speak, "With my quirk, I'm able to manipulate matter. I've tested using it on fabrics and metals and I think I can do it. I want to make money and design and make support items," I tell my father my ideas and he rubs his chin thinking about it. "I thought you wanted to be a hero," he says and I interrupt. "I do, I also want to make support items." Unbeknownst to me, my mother was listening to the TV earlier and after hearing the news report, and my ability of matter manipulation, she started suspecting something.

"Well I think it's a great idea. Not a lot of heroes are interested in the support section of hero work. But you'll need to show me the material you make to be sure it's up to standard.," he nods his head and looks at me and I reply with a nod back. We continue our breakfast and after we're finished my dad heads to hero work and I head to Takayo's. While out, my mother goes to my room. She searches the closet and my drawers only to find no suit. "Haa, good. Why should I have even suspected? They said 5'5," she sighs and confirms with herself that her son is not the masked vigilante. Unbeknownst to her however, the suit she was looking was actually inside of my storage space.

On my way to Takao's, I encounter a man running fast straight towards me on the sidewalk. He has weird legs with pink muscles exposed on the outside. I notice that he has a duffle bag of money in his right hand and behind him I see a hero running after him. As he approaches me he enters my senses and I can see where his foot is about to be. Without moving and just continuing my path of travel, I use my powers to get rid of friction where his foot is. His foot slides then comes to a stop as it goes from no friction to friction. He trips and stumbles and falls on his hands and knees as his skirts forward along the sidewalk.

"AHHHHHH, BITCH!" He screams out in pain as the pro hero catches up to him. I look at the pro hero and recognize him as Endeavour. We pass by each other, him not taking much notice of me as we do. Just because I remember him being an asshole, I decide to do a sneaky, less noticeable, application of my quirk. As he approaches the same spot the guy tripped at, I trip him as well and he falls over right on top of the guy. *ppft* I quietly laugh at this and continue forward.

Arriving at Takao's house, It's very generic Japanese housing. A white 2 story building with a grey roof and a dark brown colored wooden door. A gate surrounded by low walls closes off the house from the outside sidewalk expanding 3 feet off the road. 'Haaaa, Japan Is great, but I'm really missing America. Everything feels so compact and cramped. It's got me a little claustrophobic and missing a cheeseburger.'

Buzzing the door, Takao's mother comes to the door and offers me to come in. "Takao is upstairs in his room, probably working out knowing the boy." She invites me in and I head upstairs to Takao. I knock and receive a response to enter as I find Takao currently sitting on a workout bench under a cage with weights that look to be 250kg (550 pounds) rested above him. "Hey man, getting a light workout in?" I ask and he grabs a hand towel off to the side and wipes the little sweat that has accumulated on his forehead. "Yeah, I like to stay active," He replies and gets up and heads out. "I'ma take a shower, make yourself comfortable."

While he's out I look around his room. There's a workout area equipped with a cage, bench, with free weights, and some dumbbells. He has a bed with a poster of some body builder above it. A desk with a desktop computer having a small shelf above it with nutrition and health books along with a few manga that I've lended to him. I take out some manga from a bag I've been carrying, I decided to stop by a manga store and get some while on my way.

It doesn't take long for Takao to get out of the shower and he finds me sitting in his desk chair reading. "Yo, I got the next volume of that manga you're reading," I offer up volume 4 of a martial arts manga, where a generic weak character gets strong through training. "Thanks, what do you got," he inquires about the manga I'm reading and I show that it's a generic fantasy isekai manga. In it, the manga character gets space powers, hits a bit close to home, but I've gotten a few of my powers from him. Speaking of which this one looks promising, "Body Physics Manipulation," the character can manipulate cells, tissues, and organs of himself and others. 'Promising, I could condense my bones and muscles, but would also need to create cells to account for the lost space; which is possible, but not at this time, maybe after creating some new elements and compounds.'

"Hey Ota, what is your costume gonna look like?" Takao looks up from his manga and asks me. 'Oh right, that's a thing. Ahhh, I'm terrible at coming up with cosmetics.' "I don't know man, you wanna come up with our superhero costumes?" I ask and at that response he gets off his bed and grabs a notebook and hands it to me. "Takao's Hero Ideas, I guess all heroes got something like this," I stick my hand out to the side and a portal opens up in front of it. I pull out a notebook from my dimensional storage and hand it over to Takao. "Neat, I thought that this was a secret or something," he says, grabbing the book and flipping to the first page. "It is, but all good superheroes have someone important to them knowing their secrets. Just don't tell anybody, ok?" I say winking at him and holding up my index finger to my lips.

He hops back on the bed and starts reading my notebook as I read his. The first page has general Info on him in a format similar to the hero panel format in the show. Name: Takao Sumi, Hero Name: Bulk, Height: 155cm, Weight: 52kg, Quirk: Power Body. "Your name is Bulk, but your body is lean," I say, spinning around in his chair to face him. "At Least I have a name, you've had how many years to think of your superhero name and you wrote Ota?" he retorts back and flips my notebook over to show me. "Yeah well, a good superhero is one that doesn't worry about the press." "MMMmmm," he replies, flipping the page and looking back at the book.

I spin back around in the chair and go to the next page of Takao's book labeled 'Superhero Suit.' It looks like a spandex suit using a pattern of colors similar to the watch I gave him. Black makes up the primary color, with red lines coming from the spaces in his fingers carry up along his arms and to his back, coming down to his legs and converging on the soles on his feet. Alongside that, there is another gold line running from his palm, up his arm and onto his chest, going do and running along his abs down his legs and coming to a stop at the spaces between his toes.

"Were you eating a hotdog while drawing this cause I think you have a few ketchup and mustard stains," I say pointing to the red and gold lines on his suit. "Ohh haha, at least I got a suit idea. Also what is your 3rd grade art competition project doing in your notebook," he retorts showing me a concept idea of a gauntlet for a potential suit. "So I'm not the best artist, you're no Picasso yourself and my picture has a parts list and materials to my gauntlet idea." 'But he does have a point. I need to think of what my suit should be and have. I need to write down my plans.' "Hey Takao, trade back. I'm gonna draw up a suit and write down some ideas for the future and I'd like your input." "Sure man," he says handing back my book.

I take back my notebook and start by thinking of suit ideas. 'Alright, I'm no creative person, so using my other world knowledge of plagiarism, let's think of something. My favorite superheroes are Iron Man, Spider-Man, Black Panther, and maybe a little bit of Batman. I'm thinking of an Iron Panther suit with a Spider-Man esc pattern running along it with red/purple power lines running through it.' I take this idea and draw it out as clearly as I can for Takao to look at it. After a few minutes I hand the book back over to Takao, "Ahh, 4th grade, well done." He takes a better look at the drawing and comments, "This seems both planned and just drawn up. Also pretty cool," he hands back the notebook to me.

"Next let's talk about plans, what are yours?" I sit back down in the chair and look at Takao. "What do you mean? Just train until I get to U.A." "Alright, then if you've got nothing to do for the next 3 years, mind helping me with my plans?" "What's your plans?" "To get as well prepared for hero life as possible and do what I want to do. I like making stuff and I'm planning on starting a business doing it. Make materials and support items." Takao lays down in his bed at this, "Alright, then how are you going to do it?" 'That's a good question.' "Let me write it down."

I flip the page to a new one and start thinking of a list of goals and plans.

1. Make a new material and patent it.

2. Make money

3. Make a business. Have either dad run it or find a backer.

4. Work through suit ideas

5. Do hella research. And find different elements, compound, and combinations of all the elements.

6. Buy a bigger house and become 'In a sense' Tony Stark. Start work on suits and my powers and become the greatest man to ever live.

7. Make Cole proud and do greatness.

This fires me up enough for Takao to see and walk over. "Who's Tony Stark and Cole?" "Tony Stark is a Genius Inventor and my favorite superhero and Cole is my best friend. Anyways, It's getting late. I'ma head out. Thanks for having me." Before Takao can make a fuss and question me further, I get outta there and head home, preparing for the years to come.
