Chapter 33: Chapter 033- Gu Xian

Gu Xian was a lone cultivator. As a talent, he got invited by even some sacred grounds to join them as a disciple. But he never did so as he didn't think there was any necessity.
His father used be a merchant. Before his death, he left Gu Xian with a lot of cultivation resources. Since Gu Xian both had the talent and the cultivation resources to back it up, he thought that joining the sacred grounds as a disciple wouldn't bring him any benefit rather it would restrain him.
After 100 years of close door training, he finally managed to reach Tyrant Profound Realm. Now that he can be considered somewhat powerful in the continent, he decided to go to one of the sacred ground and join them as an elder.
The only reason he refused to join them as a disciple before is because he didn't found any benefit in it. But now that he reached a higher realm, he found out that with the amount of resources left by his father, it would be impossible for him to reach Sovereign Profound Realm in this lifetime if he doesn't have the backing of a sacred ground.
When he was on his way to the sacred grounds, he was stopped by Ling Yun who asked him to become his subordinate. At first, Gu Xian didn't agree as he thought that Ling Yun wouldn't be able to provide him with enough benefits.
But after Ling Yun showed him his power and the resources that he has in his hand, Gu Xian was convinced and decided to join 'Shadow' as per Ling Yun's suggestion.
Even after deciding to join 'Shadow', he never had any idea to be totally loyal to Ling Yun. But little did he know that Ling Yun has some other plans for him. After a few weeks of his work in 'Shadow', Ling Yun called him to his office and said, "I heard that you have been doing well in your missions. As a reward, I have something to give you. But know that, you will have to be totally loyal to me after taking it, otherwise the consequences would be be disastrous. So, do you still want it?"
Gu Xian replied positively without thinking so much as this was just a lip service in his opinion.
"Good. Now take this and refine it. This will help you in your cultivation." Ling Yun took out a bottle from his storage ring consisting of a few drops of his blood.
Gu Xian could feel the power hidden in those bloods. So he happily took it and went to his abode to refine as quickly as possible. But as he fully refined it, he found out that he has been pitted.
He could clearly feel that he now has some sort of connection with Ling Yun and if Ling Yun wills, he could easily seal his cultivation and even kill him with just a thought.
Even though he was totally devastated after knowing that his freedom is totally gone now, he couldn't put any blame on Ling Yun either as Ling Yun already hinted him earlier that he was going to lose his freedom.
'Sine I have no choice right now, I might as well work hard for Ling Yun and secure some higher position than I have now. After all, the treatment that he gives to his people are really enviable.'
From then on, Gu Xian started to take his job as an agent seriously and over the years he slowly he climbed up to the ladders and managed to take over the codename '05'.
In 'Shadow', the lower the number of your codename is, the higher the position and power you get. Xia Qingyue's codename is 'Zero' in the 'Shadow' and she holds the absolute authority inside 'Shadow'.
It hasn't been that long since Gu Xian managed to outperform others and get the number five position. As he was planning to take on some more mission to increase his position more, he was suddenly summoned by Xia QIngyue.
As he went to her office, he was given a top secret mission by Xia Qingyue. As he read the contents of the mission, he got happy and promised her that he will make sure to complete it flawlessly.
'This is my chance. As long as I can do well in this mission, I might get some resources that would help me breakthrough to the Sovereign Profound Realm. Not to mention, my position in the 'Shadow' will increase as well.' Gu Xian thought as he quickly went to finish all the preparations.
A Week Later-
Gu Xian managed to reach the capital city of Divine Phoenix Empire. After getting there, he didn't do anything hastily. Instead, he went to find the sect leaders of the other sects that are hostile to the current regime of the empire.
He first went to meet the two of the major sects beside the Divine Phoenix sect located in the royal city. These two sects are named 'Roasting Sun Sect' and 'Holy Sword Sect'.
The sect master of 'Roasting Sun Sect' is at 8th level of Tyrant Profound Realm. In terms of strength, the 'Roasting Sun Sect' isn't that far behind from the 'Divine Phoenix Sect'. The only reason they never challenged them openly is because they fear the phoenix god.
As for the 'Holy Sword Sect', it is one of the most famous sect in the Divine Phoenix Empire. But in terms of strength, it is not as powerful as 'Roasting sun Sect'. It's sect master is only at 5th level of Tyrant Profound Realm. Though in terms of numbers of disciples, it far ahead of 'Roasting Sun Sect'.
After Gu Xian talked with the sect masters of these two sects, the answer he got from them was ambiguous. Even though Gu Xian showed his cultivation base that is equal to the power of the Emperor Feng Hengkong, he didn't het any positive answer from them.
The main reason for their ambiguous answer is because they don't want to fallout with Divine Phoenix Sect until they are certain that the phoenix god residing in the royal palace is truly dead.
"I understand your concerns. But I am also certain that the so called phoenix god is already dead. What if I prove it to you tomorrow? Will you then support me overthrowing the Divine Phoenix Sect?" Gu Xian asked.
"As long you can do that, we will support you with our full power. But what we will get in exchange?" The two sect masters asked.
"How about the whole empire? The only reason I came here is to get revenge. If we manage to overthrow the Divine Phoenix Sect, the whole empire is going to be yours for taking as I am planning to travel this vast continent after all of this is over." Gu Xian didn't really mean what he said here. It is just a lip service from him as the moment the civil war starts and both party weakens each other, Xia Yuanba will take advantage of that and invade the Divine Phoenix Empire.
"Since you are so sincere. We will help you with your revenge." Both sect masters gave their promise. As for whether Gu Xian was lying to them or not, it never crossed their mind. With their experienced eyes, they could clearly notice the hatred that Gu Xian has for the Divine Phoenix Sect and specially Feng Hengkong.
