Chapter 7: Adventure Starts

The two of us are left in the room as I continue to fill out the documents. The little girl sits in front of me.

As soon as I finish signing and reading the documents, I stand up and start talking to her.

Ray: I'm done. Let's go now and pass these documents to Ms. Kara.

I wait for her response and receive just a small nod in return.

The two of us head to the reception area with all questioning eyes upon us. *sigh* You people just don't know that the little girl walking along with me is their so called SSS Rank Tanker.

Ms. Kara greets us as we approach her.

Kara: I see. You're done. Okay then. The preparations are made a while ago. I will let someone lead you to the exit so you can go.

Focusing her all attention on me.

Ray: Okay. Thank you, Ms. Kara.

Kara: Take care, Ray.

Ms. Kara is really good at putting an act. She talks to me as their valuable customer without paying attention too much to the little girl. Their ace.

A screenplay so as not to expose the secret.

I walk out from the reception area with the little girl following me. I see Sir Esley waiting for us in the hallway.

GM Esley: Ahmm…I know this isn't something I need to pry my nose with…but why did you hire an SSS Rank Tanker. Is the place you're going to that dangerous?

*Right. I didn't disclose the whole story to them. *

Ray: I'm going to clear the 50th Labyrinth, Sir Esley.

GM Esley: 50th Labyrinth? Wait! Do you want to clear that level just the two of you?! I mean, Ray, our tanker can surely survive. I don't know for you.

I answer with a smile.

Ray: Don't worry, Sir Esley: I'm confident with my skills.

GM Esley: Are you sur—

He breaks his sentence when the little girl grabs my hand. He continues.

GM Esley: Fine. I will believe you, since she puts her faith in you now.

*What does that mean? I just need to find it for myself, I guess. *

We begin to walk near the exit and sees Mr. Berdo, this time, holding a big angora bunny.

Berdo: I bring you your bunny, Ms. A.I.

A.I.: *nods*

So, the bunny will serve as her ride? Wait, what about me then? Am I going to walk for the rest of our travel?

I need to ask an important question.

Ray: Mr. Berdo, am I just going to walk?

He and Sir Esley just laugh at my words.

GM Esley: Little Ray. You sure are new here.

Berdo: Guild Master, it's bad to tease a child.

Okay. I don't understand what they are saying.

GM Esley: Little Ray, you will not walk and you wouldn't dare to because you won't even get to your destination. You and A.I. will head to the large circle in the very center of the city. There you will be automatically transferred to the area where the 50th labyrinth is located.

Ray: Wait. But I still need to walk to reach the place.

Both of them laugh again.

Berdo: Yes. Smart kid.

As we head to the circle, I'm surprised that the outside world is much better than what I imagine.

Upon reaching the place, we step into the large circle as a massive bright light engulfs us.

The scenery changes then.

We are transported inside a hollow stellar stone rock with moss, ferns and shrubs surrounding its tip. There are no trees, but mostly huge chunks of rocks and nothing but grasses all over.

The place is damp and moist and it's almost near dusk.

A.I. grabs my hand and whispers words to me.

A.I.: Let's set a camp here today. We can look for the entrance to the labyrinth tomorrow. It's dark and we won't know if there are monsters lurking by.

I want to finish quickly; however, she has a point.

Ray: Okay. Let's rest and tomorrow, we will head out.

I set a tiny tent on some dry ground, while she climbs to her angora bunny and sleeps on top of it.

=0=

An hour passed and I can't seem to get my sleep. I'm excited to see what the labyrinth looks like. My curiosity gets into me. I sneak out in the middle of the night and slowly get my things leaving my tent without her notice.

Quickly, I walk with my crystal lamp. With its bright light illuminating the paths, I've searched for the entrance.

The place is wide and complicated, still I begin to start my quest. And since it's an entrance, there must be a gate or a doorway of some sort.

I go farther and deeper from the hole of rocks I pass by. Through my search, I see an abandoned passage that looks like a gateway. It's so huge as a hill and as tall as a building.

Ray: This must be it, huh.

I head directly to the passage and examine the huge doorway. From its surface, I see some unfamiliar patterns. Patterns, that I saw back in the forest. I hold my crystal lamp high.

Ray: It's a labyrinth of the ruined.

I also spot a stone tablet with different writing encryption

A series of dots. Frustrating. I try using the crystal lamp to translate the encryption. To no avail it's useless.

*What's with this language? *

Ray: All I know is that this is a labyrinth of the ruined.

Still, I'm eager to know what's behind this huge doorway.

I believe in my strength, though what about the little girl? That it, if I try to ditch her considering she's the SSS Rank Tanker I hire and she's now my partner.

*Ugh. What's the point of an SSS Rank Tanker if I will just go solo? So much for the two diamonds. *

I decided to return. Just when I turn my back against the doorway, I stumble upon a rock nearby and accidentally touch it.

The doorway opens immediately, it happens so fast, I get sucked up inside.

The next thing I find, I'm being transported from another place.
