Chapter 10: Fire versus Shield

A deafening sound rings the place. The Fire Gin notices he's punch didn't go through his target. He's fiery fist is blocked by a little girl.

Yawning, A.I. speaks.

A.I.: You shouldn't have gone pretty rough on him, Mr. Fire Gin. The kid put a good fight after all. And since he's already on the verge of death, as her partner, let me cover for him.

Seeing the little girl speaks more politely compare to the boy, the Fire Gin listens.

Fire Gin: Very well then, little girl.

A.I. smiles and continues.

A.I.: Pardon me for the rudeness the kid has shown. Allow me to apologize on behalf of him.

Fire Gin: You seem to have some good manners compare to the lowly human over there. I will let you pass then.

A.I. Thank you, Immortal Fire Gin. May I know what's your rule here? I will be your challenger this time.

The Fire Gin replies.

Fire Gin: Haha! Pardon me. Where are my manners? I know it's a bit rude. But you just witnessed the loss of your partner.

A.I.: Mr. Fire Gin, you are indeed being rude. However, I am being honest. I want you to give me the answer to my question. I will see to it that I and my partner will give you the battle that you want.

The Fire Gin then answers back.

Fire Gin: I see, you are a brave little girl. Well then. You need to fight me with all your strength. The battle won't end, until I say "surrender". Can you do that together with your dying partner over there?

A.I. *nod* Just give me a second, Mr. Fire Gin. I'll get back to you.

I suddenly find myself in a cold dark place. I pick myself and manage to walk in search of a possible path. The silence of the place is deafening. No ray of light emerges.

I remember I was fighting the Fire Gin and then I... I lost. Does this mean, I'm d----

*ay...Ray…*

I'm starting to hear a voice. A ray of light shines my path. This must the----

*Ray!!! Ray!!! Kid, wake up! *

Huh? Wait second. This voice. She's---

"Kid, hurry up and wake up!"

I open my eyes and spot the little girl beside me.

A.I.: Good thing you're still alive. Guess, you've made it back. How's your wound, kid?

*Did she just call me "kid"? She's much younger than me. *

I just brush off this thinking and inspect my body. My strength went back and all of my wounds are gone. Strange? What just happened.

I just give her a quick response.

Ray: I'm fine, I guess. My power is somewhat restored.

A.I.: Good

Ray: Wait. Your voice. I can hear it. It's loud and clear now.

A.I.: The place is filled with silence. Of course, you can hear it loud and clear considering we are the only ones who are in this place. Ever heard of echo?

Right. I just realize. Wait! I almost forgot!

Ray: The arrogant giant!

A.I.: He's still here waiting for us. We will fight the Immortal Fire Gin once more but you have to promise me something.

Ray: Fight again? No! We're no much from him. What we need to do is esca---

She cut me off by pinching my cheek.

Ray: Ouch! What was that for?!

A.I.: Listen. You can definitely beat this Fire Gin. I'll help you. You just need to promise me that you will listen to everything that I'll say.

A.I. knows her nephew is a stubborn one so she needs to seek approval for her plan to work.

A.I.: Are you in or out?

Ray: Ugh. Okay in! So, what's the plan?

A.I.: In the meantime, you stay back.

Ray: Stay back?

A.I.: I'm not finished yet, kid. You need to focus. Gather your energy to mend your broken stone sword and make it big. After that, you need to put all your power into that sword. That's it.

Ray: So, you're going solo?

A.I.: Didn't you get my explanation?

Ray: I did. But why should I just stay at the back while you're going to risk your life?

A.I.: I'm not. I will buy you some time. Besides you will just be in a wa---I mean you need to preserve all your strength and energy to make the final attack. Do you understand?

Ray: Okay.

A.I.: Just wait for my signal.

Ray: Right.

I just hope her plan works.

A.I. walks away and heads to the Fire Gin.

A.I.: Sorry for the wait, Mr. Fire Gin.

Fire Gin: Un. You seem to have a lot of tricks under your sleeves, little girl. I notice you just cast a healing spell on that human.

A.I.: Uh huh. I just did.

Fire Gin: I know that lowly creature is a fragment of light, but what are you?

A.I.: I'm just a Tanker that lives up to her name.

Once she finishes talking, a surge of energy envelopes her body. The large beams from the place shake and make a cracking sound. A power worth for the title of SSS Rank.

The battle begins.

Fire Gin: Though, I'm quite shocked with your show just now. I wonder how long will you maintain that state. I'm an immortal. Like that ill-mannered human, you will lose too.

A.I.: Hmm…don't worry. This is not yet my serious state. I'm still in my low level, just for warming up.

Fire Gin: What?

A.I.: I say let's get down to business quickly, Immortal Fire Gin.

A.I. jumps quickly onto his face. With her tiny hands, she flicks the giant's forehead. The Fire Gin fly like a paper toss in the air from a several distances. The place falls into ruin.

Half of the Fire Gin's face is damaged. It starts to regenerate.

Fire Gin: What was that?

The giant tries to stand from the blow he received. A.I. in a speed of light appears in front of him.

A.I.: I hope you can surrender now. That's just an inch of my power. So please su---

Fire Gin: Shut your mouth!

The Fire Gin, fuming mad, raises his hand and attempts to crush A.I.
