Chapter 28: Assigning Tasks
After setting up Warming and Qi-Gathering arrays around the entire surrounding area, he could immediately notice a spike in the Qi concentration on the entire mountain peak, it was at least two times higher than before and it almost condensed into a faint mist.
However that wasn't the first thing on his mind, the first thing he decided to do after setting up the arrays was to go see his disciple's progress in these past few months.
He flew down into the second level of the pagoda and he saw both of them meditating on the futons in their rooms. Wang Wei invited them both to come to him and then he said to Huang Xue "Huang Xue did you succeed in sensing your soul?".
Huang Xue quickly replied in a somber tone "No master I have tried for months but I still haven't been able to succeed!", Wang Wei just nodded and said in a stern tone, "I will help you then, but in turn, you must work even harder in the future because you always have to rely on yourself in the end!"
Wang Wei then lifted his hand and pointed it towards Huang Xue's futon, he then used his spirit sense to start inscribing an array around it, it was in fact the array that can help a person cultivate in the Buddhist path.
It took him a few dozen minutes in order to finish it while Huang Xue and Shin Chi patiently waited to see what he was doing, after all, they were aware of the miraculous powers of their teacher.
After he finished the array he said to his disciples, while glowing symbols flashed around the futon "This is something called an array. It is a very important part of cultivation, it can not only help speed up cultivation, but it can also warm your house. However, it can also be used to create entire floating mountains when someone becomes very proficient at inscribing arrays!"
"Even in the heavens the profession of Array Master is very prestigious and wanted. So in order to help your civilization and as a gift to you, my disciples, I will create a book containing some basic knowledge of arrays. This array I have created for Huang Xue is an advanced array that can help him sense his soul and even, later on, cultivate in the Soul Cleansing realm!"
"However this book of arrays is very rare even in the Heavens and in return, I have some tasks I need you two to complete! My intentions while I am here are to create a prospering Sect and I have laid various formations that can help the Sect flourish even while I am not here, but this new formation that can help during cultivation in the Soul Cleansing realm that I have laid down has a huge requirement for it to function."
"It requires a continuous supply of spirit stones! Your tasks Huang Xue are to find a spirit stone mine after you become an Arhat and to accept disciples of your own and guide them on the path of enlightenment just as I guide you.", Wang Wei then went on to explain what Qi and spirit stones are, to both of his disciples as they listened with awed faces.
He then told Shin Chi to wait for him outside the pagoda after he finished helping Huang Xue sense his soul.
The reason Wang Wei told him to do that was that he wanted absolute silence and calmness as Huang Xue is in the process of sensing his soul and Shin Chi would disrupt that.
However, before Shin Chi left Wang Wei asked him to report his progress and Wang Wei was shocked to find out that Shin Chi was at beginning of the Muscle-Strengthening stage and so before Shin Chi left Wang Wei infused him with some Qi, but that still wasn't enough to push him into the middle of Muscle-Strengthening.
After Shin Chi left Wang Wei instructed Huang Xue to enter meditation inside the array while he started taking out spirit stones to power it. Wang Wei then spread out his spirit sense to monitor any changes in Huang Xue's body and soul.
However, all of this preparation was redundant because as soon as Huang Xue started meditating within the array it didn't take him even an hour to successfully sense his soul. As he succeeded he immediately said in a cheerful voice "Huang Xue thanks teacher for his help!"
"You're welcome, however, don't forget about the tasks you have to do as soon as you become an Arhat. I will leave enough spirit stones for you to use until you reach the Soul Cleansing realm however if you want to cultivate after that you have to find your own spirit stones!" Wang Wei said in a stern tone, as Huang Xue nodded solemnly.
"I will enter secluded cultivation for a while, it may be even for a few years. When I return I hope to see you in the Arhat realm. " Wang Wei continued. And after saying that he also went to Shin Chi and told him the exact same thing except that his expectations for him were to finish Body Refinement.
However, the task he gave to Shin Chi was for him to create a herb garden on the mountain itself because after Wang Wei set up a Qi-Gathering array around the mountain it became a heavenly grotto that was perfect for planting spiritual herbs and plants.
And it was those exact herbs and plants that were needed to create the medicinal baths that were used during cultivation in the Body Refinement realm, and having to forage for them in the wild would be too unreliable to support the disciples of the Sect.
Nonetheless setting up a herb garden was an extremely tedious process that would take way too long for Wang Wei to complete therefore he shamelessly dumped this responsibility on Shin Chi.
After all, he was Wang Wei's disciple and according to Buddhist teachings as much as it is the job of the master to guide the disciple on the road of enlightenment, it is also the disciple's job to heed the commands of their teacher.
After that he said goodbye to Shin Chi as he flew up into his room and inscribed another Buddhist cultivation array on his own futon, then he started meditating hoping to pass the second mental demon tribulation.
It took him two to three more days to cleanse the last bit of the second hindrance, however just as he finished fully cleansing it, something very strange suddenly happened that caused a stupefied expression to appear on his face...
