Chapter 30: Chapter 30

Princess Iris fell to her knees. She felt weak. Sir Thomas left her to rescue the knights. She was alone and stayed unmoved in the crowd of people rushing. The warriors and knights were evacuated. She was looking for the Duke. Then she snapped back to reality, "Why am I looking for him?" She stood up and about to walk by.

"Princess." She turned her head up as she heard someone called.

"Duke?" she covered her lips in disbelief. He was carried by Marquis and Nicholos.

"What is that bandage for?"

"I… I…"

"You roamed around, again, didn't you?"

Her tears fell. She didn't know why her heart was so sad and so relief at the same time. The feelings overwhelmed her.

"You cried?" her tears were falling even more. "Don't." He thought Iris will be happy seeing him suffered. He wiped out the tears with his trembling finger, "Now, where is my cape? Why don't you use it?"

"It is in my room. In the inn."

"Goodness. Why? I was bruised here and there and you left it in your room. Good. Good. Jude, now bring me to my room."

"You still talked this much. You will be alright," said Jude. She then followed them up to the room.

They laid him on his bed. The Duke was wounded and bruised. He is lucky his face didn't get burned. Marquis has shielded him too so the burn was not severed. They have removed his armours and top clothes to treat the wounds quickly. His defined abs were shown. Iris blushed.

"I will find June. Nicholos help others, you should get bandaged too. Princess, I left him with you."

"Sure."

He must have taken the blow, she thought. She sat by his bedside. "Should I heal him? Will he notice?" she sighed deep. She stood up and walked.

"Where will you go? Don't roam again. You never listen to me."

"No, I will take your cape."

"Please don't…" his voice was unclear. Iris didn't hear that and she came back after. Iowyrthe thought she won't come back and left him.

"Here." Iris covered him with his cape, "You always did it for me." Iowyrthe was blushing.

Doctor June and Marquis Judah came in after. After she checked Iowyrthe, she handed the essence of Euntaras leaves and the fresh one to Iris.

"Judah will help me taking care of the injured. Please help me to make him take the essence. He was always hesitated to drink potion. Put the fresh leaves on his wounds. Sir Thomas will send you food, later. I trust him in your care. Thank you, Princess."

"June, the tree is back to normal? The water?"

"We have checked. It is normal now. You don't have to worry. Save the energy for your recovery. I think it is because you chased out the person behind it, Io."

Iowyrthe seemed relieved. They were gone now. Iris was relieved too, so far no one suspicious her using her healing mana, except Felix of course.

"Would you like to take medicines now?"

"Nope. Just help me put the leaves, I will be fine."

"You afraid of potion? Why?"

"Not a fond memory to be trained for enduring poison."

"Then I drink it."

"Good for…" Iris suddenly kissed Iowyrthe and he was stunned. He opened his mouth and reflexively drink the essence poured to his mouth. She poured her healing mana to him with the kiss.

"You sly! You steal my…" Iowyrthe was so embarrassed and speechless.

"Steal what? Your first kiss? Come on, the Duke Lleuelyn of Callavan haven't kissed anyone before?"

"I haven't." Iowyrthe was embarrassed.

She gasped, "Really?!" she tilted her head slightly, "Alright, let's just pretend I believe in you. I apologize, I have wronged you. I didn't intend to harass you, Your Highness. Now lay down, I will put the fresh leaves to your wound."

Iowyrthe pouted but still obeyed laying down and expose his body. She covered every wound with leaves and fused a little of her healing mana. Now, she can blame the speedy recovery to the Euntaras leaves.

Iowyrthe clearly exhausted and getting drowsy. He was enveloped by an indescribable feeling of peace. He felt that he already knew Iris for long. Like his body has recognize Iris touches for long times ago. He was so sure he never met her, but how his sense memorized her?

Sir Thomas then give came to them dinner. It was already dark. He found the Duke was calmly sleeping.

"Princess, you look a little tired. Please rest. I will ensure he get his food when he awakes." Sir Thomas said to her.

"Alright, Sir Thomas. I will rest." She stood up and felt dizzy. The effect of healing started taken its toll. She ran fast to her room. She collapsed herself to her bed. She wished the healing will not cost her anything. She was tired and exhausted so much using her mana to heal. Good thing the neutralization didn't cost her health. She felt very fortunate that small amount of her blood can neutralized a spring. Cost effective but highly noticeable.

"Where is she?" Iowyrthe woke up.

"Pardon me, Your Highness, her highness is resting. I saw she was exhausted." Iowyrthe looked disappointed, "Patience, Your Highness, you can meet her tomorrow."

"I… I don't…" Sir Thomas smiled. The smile was full of hidden meaning behind. He asked, "So, we resume our journey tomorrow? I see that you quickly recovered after the Princess taken care of you, Your Highness."

"Hmm, we have to make sure first there will be no threat to this town."

"Alright, then. Please rest, Your Highness."
