Chapter 2: Snowflakes

Time is devine and a journey, it can't be measured by years or ages. Wait and see, trust your heart and it will lead you the

way.

If waiting is a sin then i would be worse than any sinner for holding onto promises made by moon which has been witnessed by the universe.

"Here is your new birth certificate, other ID's, boarding pass and passport." Suruel said and handed me a brown envelope. "I already fixed your death certificate and sold all your properties in Saint Petersburg and Cheboksary."

"Thank you, Suruel, you are really an Angel." I told my best friend. We are here at the restaurant inside the airport, waiting for my flight.

"That i really am." He smiled widely and laced his fingers together. Suruel is a Nephilim, a half- human and half-angel. "I will follow you to America once I finish my trials here."

I gave my best friend a grateful smile and opened the enveloped. My brows knitted when I saw my new name on my passport. "Salt? Salt Quinn? Last time you named me Asia, a country. Now a condiment!"

"Why? It's a good name, unique and very millennial." His full lips stretched and form into a smile, his blue eyes were playful, his cleft chin, cheekbones and jawline definitely helps to made him look really handsome and sexy.

"Right." I said between my clenched teeth still looking at my passport. "How I wish this would be the last time I will change my identity and stop moving."

He knew everything about Juno and made a promise to help me to find the beloved warrior of the moon.

Suruel held my hand and gave me a comforting squeezed. "I know it's tiring why not take a break?"

"I can't." An exasperated sigh escaped my mouth. Earth is huge, it has 165 countries and 7.4 billions people around the globe. Sometimes I feel hopeless but I know to myself I can't give up.

"The goddess of the moon would never lie, her words are gold and precious. But believe me Cassiel, I have this strange feeling that America is the right place to look for Juno." Suruel told me sincerly.

"Hopefully." then something caught my attention, a boy was playing around the restaurant and accidentally slipped. Unfornately no one is looking but before something bad happens to him, my feet moved fast like a bullet and timely caught the boy before his head hit the floor.

"Are you okay?" I asked the little boy in Russian language while helping him stand up. Confusion written all over his face. He just nodded his head. "Be careful next time okay, go back to your parents." then he ran away without looking back at me. He might be really scared because of what happened.

"That was close." Suruel whispered when I went back to our table. "This is why I don't like kids."

"Suruel, you know liars go to hell." I reminded him because I know he really likes kids, he even volunteers to the orphanage.

"Dummy!" Then I looked at plasma screen of arrival and departure times on the wall of the airport. "It's time."

"Time flies." Suruel breath out as we both stood up. He helped to carry my suitcase.

"Call me when you are coming in New york so I can look for a place where you can stay at." I told him.

"Don't worry about me, I already have a place to stay." He glanced at me over his shoulder.

"Ha?" My forehead creased in confusion. "Where?" why Suruel didn't tell me about it?

"Next to your house." he chuckled, making me roll my eyes. "I already bought the property so we can always visit each other anytime."

We both stopped at the entrance of departure area and we stared at each other. People were lined up at the check in desk with suitcases and baggage. There were old and young all who whined with an equal premises of complaints.

"Absolutely this is not a goodbye." I took a deep breath. This is not the first time that we are going to separate but leaving a good friend still hurts me.

Suruel smile at me, his curly brunette hair was bouncing and dancing because of the strong wind blowing hard. "Don't miss me so much okay, I will follow you immediately."

"Yeah, yeah."

Suruel gave me a warm hug and kissed on my cheek. "If you'll ever change your mind Cassiel, you know I'm here."

I playfully shoved his shoulder as I grabbed my suitcase. "Why don't you find a girl Suruel and stop flirting with me."

"Well too bad, I only have eyes for you Cassiel, just love me please." He said under his breath.

Suruel is a elusive bachelor, handsome and greatly respected lawyer here in Russia. And there were tons of girls who fell to his feet but Suruel didn't even notice them because he was too focused on me. And yes I knew Suruel had feelings for me since then but I already told him that I can only offer my friendship.

"Only If the sun dies and stars collapse." I said before turning my back to him and started to walked away with a heavy heart.

"Hey, I'm serious." Suruel still trying to make everything easy.

I waved my hand without looking back at him. I went to the Immigration and present my boarding pass and passport.

The male immigration officer stared hard on my passport. I suddenly felt a little nervous. Those gray hair shows how long he has been doing this job for so long, his amber eyes told me that he has seen many things.

"Salt Quinn? What a beautiful name, like you." He put a stamped in my passport. "Have a safe flight."

Another twenty years of my life has officially ended here in Russia. It's only mean that I have to move somewhere no one else knows me. Angels didn't age or die in short we are immortal and to prevent any complications we have to move to other countries every twenty years and start new lives.

Finally I arrived to New York and was greeted by crowded places and horrible traffic after a long 9 hours and 43 minutes of flying nonstop, without any connections, stopovers on the plane from Moscow.

And I'm going to live in penthouse here in Manhattan it has two bedrooms, two bathrooms with jakusi, a modern kitchen, a huge seating area and of course my favorite, the open terrace where you can watch the busy city from the tallest building.

Suruel really made sure that I had everything I needed, like food well I only eat fruits and veggies.

Angels do not eat any living things it's sacred for us, I also have brand new clothes, expensive shoes and designer bags.

My wings came out while I was standing in the middle of my bedroom, it spreads widely and moves back and fourth slowly. Some of my feathers fell on the floor, they are still white like a snow and smooth like cotton. I want to fly over the city but snowflakes started to fall.

"Juno." I whispered. "If I can't find you, then please find your way to me." A sad smile drew my face when I looked up and was mesmerized by glimmering and pulsing diamonds scattered in the dark sky.

But my phone rang and i already knew what who it was because he is the only person who knew my cellphone number. "Hello, Suruel."

There was a rustling sounds from other line. Suruel was moving a lot. "Hey. How is the new place?"

My wings slowly disappeared as I walked to my bed. After a long time of having to hide my wings, I had already gotten used to my wings retracting into my back. "I loved my new house, very peaceful and the view of the city is incredibly relaxing."

"Well, I know you would love it." there is a smile in his voice, very proud of his works. "Are you ready to your new job tomorrow?"

"Not really." I told him truthfully. "I'm a little nervous." My fist closed as my knuckles turned white. "This is my first time of teaching especially in one of the respective and well known University in Manhattan. I just... What if I fail? What if they didn't like my teaching technique?"

"Hey, we came first on Earth before them." Suruel stated. "We are smarter than any human, than any scientist or mathematicians. So please, never doubt yourself, you can do it, they are just a piece of cherry."

"A piece of cake, not cherry." I corrected, rolling my eyes. I know he was only playing. "But thank you though, you always make me feel that Earth is very lucky to have me, "

"Anything for you Cassiel, anyway. I have to go, my last trial is about to start."

"Okay, I will sleep now, goodnight and see you!" then I dropped the call. Tomorrow is the new chapter of my life on Earth, where I can write a brand new story and hopefully the first new chapter will includes Juno.

••

It's nine in the morning but the sky is dark and snow is still falling. The white ice dust piling up on the parking lot of the school, the ground was covered in a white blanket and winter trees were naked and cold, their branches hung low with the weight of the snow.

I could feel the weight of the stares on my back and heat on my face as I silently walked in the crowded hallway.

"Are you lost? No student is allowed here." I heard a very strict voice from an elderly blonde woman said once I stepped inside the faculty room.

There are other four professor and wondering why I'm here. I felt like a peace of hot meat waiting for these angry wolves to attack me.

"No, I'm not lost." I cleared my throat as my face turned red. "I'm not a student either." The elderly blonde woman was looking at me through her eyelashes while typing something in her laptop. How can she do that? "I'm the new professor."

"Are you joking?" A guy in his fourthy chipped in as he stood up, crossing perfectly built arms. "Maybe you are a model or artist."

"I graduated early in College." I reasoned. Good thing that the bell rang and saved me from many questions. I went to my table and grabbed a book and left the room without saying anything to them.

All students were talking loud and restless when I entered my first class. They didn't even acknowledge my presence not until I knocked against the table.

" Good morning." I greeted no one. An eighty sets pair of eyes were looking at me intently. My eyes started to wonder around this air conditioned classroom. "Is everyone here?"

A boy from the front seat raised his hand, headphones around his neck. I motioned him to stand and speak up. "Are you a new student?"

My bangs fell right on the side of my face and gracefully brushing it off. "No, I'm your new professor, sadly, Mr. Cortes is sick and never coming back."

A girl from the back raised her hand, she looks Asian and dye her hair green. Nice color and hairstyle. "Aren't you too young to be our professor? You look like 18 years old."

I got the same sentiment from my previous job as a medical doctor in Russia.

"I have been told, thank you but I'm 23 years old." Of course it was a lie, I don't even know how how old I am.

"Wow!" They gasped in awe.

"I'm Salt Quinn, your new Liberal Arts and Sciences, General studies and Humanities professor." I introduced myself, earning another awe from my students. And since my hearing ability is ten times better than ordinary human. I heard some of them were talking about my body, like eye raping me and some still could not believe that I was their professor because I look like a high school student.

"Okay, let us start" I lowered my eyes and read the names of my students. "We are going to discuss about philosophy of life." I walked around the podium while adjusting my glasses. "What is happiness?" My voice bounced against the walls. "What if you guys saw two doors. The door to the right where you have a lot of money, power but this life is include multiple illness and endless problems." I saw everyone were listening intently. "The door to the left is no money, no power, no illness, you will enjoy your life and have a good physical health, you will grow old and die peacefully." I walked in the middle, the only noise is the clicking sounds of my heels against the marble floor. "Which of these door would you choose?"

The Asian girl raised her arm again. "Happiness is when you accomplish something, like study or a job. Happiness is when you fulfill all your needs, when you feel contentment in life."

My first day of teaching went well. I got the attention and interest of my students, we had great interaction and discussion. It made me happy.

"Nice topic today Miss Quinn, see you tomorrow." One of my student said as I walked pass their small group in the hallway.

My hand clutched my chest when I saw my red emerald necklace starts glowing. I looked around the parking lot but I couldn't see anyone else here except me. This is the first time had happened so I'm pretty sure Juno is here.

Then my eyes landed on a girl crossing the street seven meters away from where I am. I can't really see her face because her long red hair was covering her face. Then I heard a screeching sound and saw a car fast approaching towards the girl's direction and about to hit her.

Like a flashes of light, I used my speed to get the girl and put her down safely on the other side the icy road. My arms were still securely wrapped around her waist as our faces are just few inches from each other.

My heart clenched and started to bleed when I recognized those green eyes that brings hope and life into my empty heart and soul.

"Juno?"
