Chapter 4: Chapter 4 - Money is Power
Very Soon Xin Jin and Luo Mei found themselves in front of the home Xin Jin just purchased.
After opening the gate and taking a step inside, Xin Jin took a deep breathe.
"Excellent." He said after taking a short look around.
"Hmm..." He hummed after a few moments. "we're going to need a couple of servants to help take care of this place." Xin Jin said after getting the full scope of the new place.
"Shall we get some lunch?" He asked Luo Mei after he saw that it was still only midday.
"Sure." She answered with a slight nod.
After a quick search, they found a nearby restaurant called The Waning Star, it was said to be the second best place to eat in the city.
"Welcome, will it just be the two of you?" Asked the hostess when they entered
"Yes." Xin Jin replied "And i'd like a spot with your nicest view." He added with a light smile as he set a gold tael in front of her.
"But of course, Right this way." said the hostess as she led them both up to an empty private room on the third floor with a beaming expression
"Your waitress will be right with you" said the hostess as they sat down in their seats.
Once the hostess left Xin Jin began to stare straight at Luo Mei as she looked over the menu.
"What is it?" she asked when she noticed his gaze.
"Nothing." He replied "I was just captivated by how beautiful you are."
Luo Mei turned as red as a tomato when she heard the compliment
At this time the waitress appeared
"We would like to order your most popular dishes and sides, as well as your most expensive wine." Xin Jin stated before she could even ask what he wanted.
The waitress simply nodded while taking the menus before leaving
Xin Jin and Luo Mei sat in relative silence for a few minutes before Xin Jin decided that he was getting bored. So, in order to entertain himself, he slipped of his shoe and started rubbing his foot against Luo Mei's leg.
At first she was startled before she figured out what was going on, but like when he grabbed ahold of her waist earlier, she didn't rebuff his advance.
It took a few more minutes before the first dishes and wine arrived.
There were a mixture of beef, chicken, and noodles dishes with a type of wine called Aurora Wine.
"Here you go." Xin Jin said with a smile after the food arrived as he picked up a piece of chicken with his chopsticks and offered it to Luo Mei
Luo Mei was almost too shy to accept, however, when she saw the sincere gaze in Xin Jin's eyes she couldn't refuse.
"Ahm" She reacted in surprise as the food was really very good.
It took the two roughly half an hour to finish off the food and wine. Although Luo Mei chose to drink tea instead. Xin Jin assumed she was probably bad with alcohol.
The meal, which only added up to a few silver taels, was still quite enjoyable.
when the waitress returned to receive payment and take the dishes, Xin Jin suddenly asked a question that she wasn't expecting.
"Is the owner in by chance?" He asked politely
The waitress was momentarily stunned and Luo Mei also looked at him strangely
"Don't worry, nobody is in trouble." He said reassuringly
After a brief nod, the waitress disappeared and came back 2 minutes later with a short, balding man who was quite fat and was sweating like a pig in a slaughter house.
"How may I be of service, Young Master?" Asked the sweaty owner, whose name was Li Chen, nervously.
"I heard in passing that this establishment of yours is considered the second best restaurant in the city." said Xin Jin
"Yes..." Replied Li Chen
"I would like to buy a 50% stake in your business for a total of 5000 taels of gold." He stated plainly
"...."
Li Chen, the waitress, and Luo Mei were all struck dumb when they heard what Xin Jin had to say.
"Th..this isn't a joke is it, young master?" Li Chen asked doubtfully.
"Of course not." Replied Xin Jin with a serious expression. "I never joke around when it comes to money."
"So, what do you say?" he asked after a few moments of silence.
"Phew...I accept your offer." Li Cen said after some intense internal debate.
"Excellent." said Xin Jin "Let's sign a contract."
After both sides agreed on the content of the contract, they both signed it and Xin Jin handed all of the money over.
"I expect you to turn this place into the best restaurant in Sky City by the end of the year." Xin Jin said jokingly.
"Don't worry, I'll make this place the best restaurant in the whole province within a year!" Li Chen stated confidently.
After chatting a bit more, Xin Jin and Luo Mei soon left and headed back to their new house.
By the time they returned, it was almost already evening. A Bright moon rose from the horizon as a few stars started to twinkle.
Xin Jin led the way to the master bedroom where there was a magnificent bed that could easily fit up to four people comfortably.
When they were in the room alone together, Luo Mei felt her heart speed up as her breathing became more rapid. She found it difficult to decide if she was nervous or excited to be in the same room with him.
In order to ease the tension, she was going to ask him about his plans and why he bought the restaurant, but before she could open her mouth, she finally lost her breath as her body stiffened at the feeling of Xin Jin wrapping his arms around her waist from behind and embraced her.
Luo Mei's face down to her neck immediately turned crimson as she felt his touch.
"Do you hate it?" She heard him whisper in her ear.
Luo Mei trembled as an indescribable feeling welled up inside her.
"No..." She replied
