Chapter 32: Chapter 032

Alvin was walking alone in a deserted alley, pretending to be too drunk to go in any particular direction.

He followed Vincent the instigator's script perfectly, and had a huge quarrel with Cheryl and Naomi, and left the inn. Making sure that Victor was tailing him, he pretending to be drunk and enraged, then walked to a location he had chosen for the hunt.

While he was fairly confident in dealing with a Sequence 8 without traps, as a Hunter, he should never underestimate his prey. Plus, by the looks of him being rushed to consume the which potion, and the Witch being assigned to protect him and assassination people for him, this guy may have an unusual identity or use. It was not completely out of the question that he had some amazing life saving item given to him by the Demoness Sect.

He had performed a few divinations with the Coin of Wonders before leaving. All of them indicated that the hunt would go smoothly, and that Vincent did not have any mystical items that could pose any danger to him.

Alvin threw up in an empty bin, and stumbled deeper into the alley, with Vincent following behind. He finally went to the end of the alley, and leaned against the wall of wooden building.

Vincent walked out from his finding place and entered into the slightly illuminated part of the alley, and stood in front of Alvin grinning like a madman.

"Vincent? How come you are here? Did you get kicked out by your wife too? Figures. She was too hot for you anyway" said Alvin pretending to be half drunk.

The smug smile on Vincent's face immediately faded, and was replaced with an ugly scowl.

He roared, and charged at Alvin.

As Vincent closed in on him, Alvin who was pretending to be disoriented suddenly straightened up, and sidestepped Vincent's charge and pushed him along his path, right into the wooden wall. Vincent crashed through them all before he could get his bearings, and Alvin pulled out a hidden revolver and unloaded 5 bullets into his back. He then shot the last bullet into a carte of explosives, the wooden building went up in flames.

He then took a few steps back, and observed the results of his actions as he reloaded his gun.

He had picked a remote alley, far away from the police station or the local church. These buildings we're mostly abandoned, with a few homeless people wandering in every once in a while. The wooden structure he had chosen also was a lone structure, meaning that the surrounding structures wouldn't catch fire, and was greatly rotten yet dry, which made for great fuel.

He estimated that it would be at least 10 minutes for personnel of the church or wild Beyonders to arrive. He planned to finish the hunt and leave within 5.

Vincent was shot 5 times in the back, and was surrounded by flames. Alvin stayed back, with his gun at the ready, half expecting him to lose control. He was already on the edge, and would probably be put over the edge considering the threat to his life.

Surprisingly, Vincent did not lose control or succumb. He looked around, and then jumped out of the window opposite to where Alvin was.

But Alvin had anticipated that, so he coldly smiled as he went around the house to the direction Vincent had jumped. Sure enough, Vincent was all tangled up and injured all over from the barbed net he had laid just outside the window. Alvin approached him but kept his distance.

"Hello, Vincent. What a situation we find ourselves in right?" asked Alvin leisurely.

Vincent, whom Alvin had labelled unhinged and on the verge showed a surprising calm at the situation, and looked back at Alvin, albeit with rage in his eyes.

"So you weren't affected? Kate told me to be more careful. I should have listened to her. The guy who I put a bounty on was also you? To separate us?" asked Vincent.

Alvin wasn't worried about Vincent escaping. 5 shots to the back were pretty devastating to any low Sequence Beyonder. Plus, the barbed wire was pretty strong, and not easy to escape out of. And he always had a loaded firearm to finish the job it's it came to it.

Bit he still decided to be careful, and dispose of Vincent without talking to him. Plus, he was bleeding pretty badly from the gunshots and the barbed wire digging into his flesh. He would survive longer due to his superior constitution, but would eventually bleed out.

As a Hunter, Alvin was obligated to dispatch hunted prey as painlessly as possible.

So Alvin aimed his revolver at Vincent's temple, and fired off a few shots.

Vincent stopped moving, and Alvin went forward to search him. He decided to wait for the extraordinary characteristic to condense grab whatever Vincent had on his person, dump his body into the nearby wooden structure on fire and make himself scare before anyone else arrived.

A few minutes later, Alvin was walking back to the in checking out his loot. In total, other than the Instigator extraordinary characteristic, Alvin got close to 1200 pounds, a random assortment of charms, a small delicate book filled with names and contacts, and a silver and black whistle that Alvin recognises as the Skeleton Whistle that Vincent had brought before.

Also, there was a creepy part looking mutilated doll. Alvin was prepared to throw it away, but he felt like it was familiar. Hence, he took a much closer look.

The doll looked very scraggly, seemed to have holes all over, and was partially burnt. As Alex ran his fingers over it, they stopped on his back. He turned the doll over and took a closer look. There were 5 holes on the back of the doll. After carefully observing them, Alvin noticed that their positions seemed to match the 5 bullets he had shot into Vincent.

Also, the burn marks, scratches and holes seemed consistent with the mild burns and scratches from the barbed wire net that Vincent was caught in.

"A substitute? No. It's probably an alarm system. This doll mirrors Vincent's condition, which is mirrored by a doll in a supervisor's possession. So does Kate know Vincent is dead?" thought Alvin.

He then quickened his pace back to the hotel, as he had a bad feeling.
