Chapter 3: Chapter 3: Two and One

As Z walks toward the lair, he notices that violet trees with red leaves are visible to his far left. He continued his way to the lair which is noticeably close to the part of the forest where trees change their colors when--

"--Huh?" As he felt a sticky feeling in his cheeks. He instinctively looked above "--Wha--" his words slammed shut as he covered his mouth with his hands. A beast about three meters long with two bodies, eight legs, and countless eyes devouring a bird whose only remaining part is its lower body comes to view. Countless red eyes meet his two humble ones. 'Run!' he thought.

Without turning his head around, Z ran as fast as he could. He did not stop for a single beat for he heard the sound of legs constantly hitting the ground.

'Damn, if not for that beast bumping all around trees, I would've been dead by now'

"Screech!"

Z's heart beat even faster when he heard the ear deafening cry. Fear fills his heart. Only his desire to live is keeping him sane.

"Tug, tug, tug, tug, tug"

Z's mind almost went blank as he heard countless more steps.

"Oh dear" he couldn't help but mumble as he saw countless more red eyes that seemingly illuminated the dark forest.

'Run!'

He pushed the limits of his body, as he ran straight away from the chasers.

'Not dangerous my ass' he remarked

"Crap!" he exclaimed, as an about one and a half meter spider swoops down to him as if it could fly.

He rolled to dodge the spider

"Damn" as it bumped to a root.

Ignoring the setback, he continued to run for his life.

"Damn! Damn! Damn!" Countless bodies are now visible. All of which are smaller versions of the first one he saw, which seemingly comes from all directions except his front.

"Ack!" as he stumbled though the ground tipped by a revealed root which appears to be black and dry.

Fear and desperation emanated from him as he leaned in a tree, letting go of his life.

To his surprise, none of the di-bodied beasts ran to him. Contrary to that, they turned around and went away.

"What just happened?" he wondered as he looked around observing the area. He noticed that the trees are now black and dry, while the ground is cracked and dry as well. Different from the area the di-bodied beasts refuse to cross which has violet trees with red leaves.

As he calmed down, he noticed that it was hotter. Not just because of his sweat and exhaustion. He was certain that the temperature went up a considerable amount.

He knows that he cannot return to the 'purple' part of the forest. So he aimlessly wandered around this area.
