Chapter 3: Comparison

This afternoon was very hot and the best gift given by the sports teacher this afternoon was sunbathing. Honestly, I want to complain because I have slightly sensitive skin and it's easy for me to sunburn.

"Okay, now you should sunbathe and make sure your whole body is exposed to the sun because the weather is very nice today."

"Come on El, let's sunbathe." Chloe came and took my hand and we both stood in the sun.

It's true, it didn't take long for my skin to start turning red, I'm sure my cheeks will now turn red too.

"You're blushing." Chloe saw me and chuckled, I suddenly covered my cheeks with my hands so the others wouldn't notice that my cheeks were already tomato red now and it didn't take long. They all looked at me because Chloe said I was blushing.

"It's okay, I'm used to this," I replied grinning.

After a few minutes, Oliver came with his big jacket and put it on me. Oliver's behavior like that made some of the eyes that previously had not yet turned their gaze on me, now made them more and more.

"If you can't handle the heat, you should be able to talk to the teacher." He scolded me while accompanying me to take shelter on the sidelines I wanted to rebel but I also had to maintain his pride as a man.

.

.

The incident this afternoon was enough to make me the center of attention, even though I'm a little uncomfortable being treated like that and I also don't really like being the main topic of their gossip.

I also heard Chloe defend me a few times by nagging at the kids gossiping about me behind my back and I just pretended I didn't know until school was over.

"Okay, for your assignment, do pages 90-95 points A to E. Assignments are done with a classmate, and only one is collected as a representative." Those were the last words of Mrs. Sisil, the Mathematics teacher who had been teaching my class for two days.

Even though I'm just silent, but rest assured I'm the same as other children who rebelled in their hearts because they got a little extraordinary task.

"Want to work today?" I offered to Chloe. He turned and accepted my invitation.

Well, it's better to finish quickly than to have to work on time.

"Let's do it at my house. I'll take you home when I get home." I nodded, Chloe hugged my arm and we both walked out of the school building towards the motorbike parking lot.

"Oh, I didn't bring an extra helmet. You're okay if you don't wear a helmet, right?" Chloe asked, I just nodded curtly. After seeing Chloe get on her motorbike, I followed her and sat in the back.

Honestly, this is my first experience riding a motorcycle, it's a bit embarrassing but never mind.

It only took 10 minutes, we were at Chloe's house. This house is simple but gives a warm impression from the outside. We both entered the courtyard of Chloe's house which was not too big, maybe only fifteen meters wide and very far when compared to my house.

"Dad, I'm home!" Chloe screamed, I was a little surprised but could only give my smile to a middle-aged couple who welcomed Chloe home from school.

"Mom, this is my friend Elainne."

"Hello uncle, aunty." I greeted while bowing slightly, they looked at me in surprise.

"He's from Singapore ma pa, so it's like this." Cut Chloe.

"Oh, I see. Come on in, auntie has already made lunch. Let's eat first." Chloe pulled me into her house, I could only obey her this time. When we were all at the same dinner table, my heart was a little scratched and I desperately controlled my emotions.

I'm jealous of Chloe being able to feel the warmth of family up to this moment, no matter the size of this house, but they can still joke around on the dining table so I immediately compare how my family is now.

There is no breakfast with the family, there is no dinner hour that all children crave, no parents to hug. Now Hansel and I are taking care of ourselves.

After we were done with our lunch, I helped Chloe clean up the cutlery and dirty dishes and Chloe finished with the dishes. Chloe led me into her room.

The two of us sat on the floor with a turquoise carpet, the room looked neat even though it was a little full of books.

"Can you do this?" Chloe handed me a printed math book which I knew was a task we had to do. I glanced at the material and I sighed. I took a paper from my bag and explained a little about our assignment.

"So it's about derivatives of algebraic functions." Now and then I look at Chloe who is still focused on the number scribbles on my paper. I don't like math but I'm not that bad with math either.

We do our assignment which we have divided in half to make it more efficient and to finish quickly, Chloe also looks pretty good at math, until now she is writing her answer without hesitation and doesn't stop.

Hansel has just arrived at his residence, today he has to take care of any pending files because he has to take care of many files regarding his move. The young man sighed while covering his tired eyes with his arms, he had a little time to rest while waiting for news from Elainne to ask to be picked up.

He didn't care that a middle-aged man came and sat opposite him, staring at him in silence.

"There's something daddy wants to talk to you about."

Hansel suddenly removed his hand and glanced at Oliver briefly and closed his eyes again.

"Say it." Hansel answered briefly.

"Abigail will be here tomorrow." Hansel glared and immediately got up from his sleep.

"WHAT?!"

Oliver was silent, he leaned his back while massaging his forehead. Oliver also did not expect that Abigail would come here even though he had previously forbidden it considering his relationship with Hansel and Elainne was not good.

"Dad didn't think about how Elainne would feel?" Hansel was annoyed, how could this old man act recklessly, instead of trying to fix the broken glass, the man only shattered the broken glass.

After a while, Hansel's cell phone rang, Elainne sent a short message and asked to be picked up at a friend's house, as if the time was right to leave Oliver who was still silent.

Everything got even more chaotic, even though Hansel intended to bring Elainne to Indonesia so that her little sister would not be too stressed and could recover mentally slowly but easily Oliver said that this woman would come to this place.

Elainne was bound to get even more screwed up.
