Chapter 485: 485. Trapping Red Hairs
After some hours, Buggy finally allows the other crews to leave. They need to return and protect their territories now. This war will cause some massive changes and increase the pirates' activities, especially in the New World where most of these pirate crews' territories are located.
"Captain, I think we need to secure Sabaody too as it is like a gate from Paradise to New World. I know you've talked with Rayleigh, but I don't think he and Shakky are enough to handle the problems that will arise there. Especially after you cut a great chunk of the Red Line that's right beside the archipelago."
"Don't worry, I have thought about it and made a preparation. A certain Emperor crew that doesn't participate in this war is returning after hiding for a year. They should've reached Sabaody by now and I've asked Rayleigh-san to hold them there."
The others are quite dumbfounded by Buggy's strategy. They know he is talking about Red Hair Pirates that have been training Leo for a year, after all.
"You really like to mess with them, aren't you?"
"Hah, it's their fault for being too passive about everything. They would just keep partying if I didn't give them some work. I am just helping them save money by not letting them buy too many drinks and food. Also, they need some fights after disappearing for a year. Maybe their skills have gotten rusty, you know. So they need to polish their skills first before entering the New World."
Buggy grins and laughs maniacally after saying those things. Many pirate crews in Paradise will try to enter the New World after this war. They will see this as a great chance because the World Government and Marines are in bad shape, after all.
But if too many pirate crews enter the New World, it will cause a lot of problems for the pirates in the New World, especially the Emperors that are ruling this sea. So Buggy needs to make sure that those pirate crews from Paradise can't enter New World easily.
He has trapped Red Hair Pirates to handle things in Sabaody while the Sun Pirates have agreed to handle things in Fishman Island. Buggy also has sent some of his subordinate crews to the first islands of the New World. So he has secured the gates between Paradise and New World.
However, he knows that it's almost impossible to really stop all those pirate crews from crossing. There are just too many of them, so some with skills and resilience will eventually succeed. It's not a problem though as Buggy's goal is to reduce the number of pirate crews that cross to New World.
*Puru puru puru*
When he thinks about that, his ship's denden mushi suddenly rings, so he picks it up.
"Sup? This is your man, Buggy."
<BUGGY, YOU BASTARD! WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU DOING?>
The caller is Shanks, and he immediately shouts at Buggy as soon as Buggy talks. Rayleigh has told Shanks about this war and the Red Hairs have seen the chopped Red Line with their eyes. Of course, they were really shocked because they never expected to see this before they even returned to New World.
"I was just cleaning up some pieces of trash. It's just that those pieces of trash were very resilient and hard to remove. So I needed to be really serious and maybe did too much. Well, things ended well anyway, so there is no problem."
<As if there's really no problem. Attacking Marie Geoise where the Celestial Dragons lived by cutting the Red Line. That would surely bring a lot of problems. Had I known you would do something crazy like this, I would have returned earlier.>
"And what? Stopping me? You think you can stop me? Shanks, I know you don't like the way I do this as you have some connections with them, but the Celestial Dragons needed to be removed, and it would happen sooner or later. I have the capability to do that and I have a goal to reach. They were standing in my way and I have lost my patience, so I decided to do it with my own hands rather than just waiting."
<Of course, I would. You were too reckless and hasty. This is not a small matter, it's a bigger matter than the Marineford War last year and might be even bigger than Roger Pirates reaching Laugh Tale because this will affect the world from top to bottom. The aftereffects of this war are going to be much bigger than we thought."
"If you are afraid of changes just because it will cause big problems, then nothing will ever change. Problems always appear, it's just whether you're brave enough to face them and how you'll face them. If you keep taking it slow and calculate everything, you will be left behind as always, Shanks."
<... Sigh, I know your point, but it just doesn't feel right for me. Whatever, what about the war? Seeing how you answer my call, does it mean the war has ended?>
"If the war you mean is against Celestial Dragons, then yeah, we have destroyed them completely. Now we are on New Marineford, talking about the next steps we should take as there will be a lot of problems caused by this war."
<At least you have some senses to solve the problems caused by your war.>
"Oi, oi, oi, I am always a sensible person, you know. Some even said that I am actually a saint who plays as a pirate because of how kind I am."
<..... Anyway, I will help you. It's not like I have any other choices anyway. If the pirate activities raise too much, then it will be very problematic for all of us. I have territories and men to protect, so I can't just let these guys enter the New World and wreak havoc there.>
"Good, I've arranged things here in New World too including the protection of your territories. You just need to make sure no one slips through your watch."
<I'll try.>
"Just trying is not enough. Be serious, you damn redhead. I know you can stop all of them if you are serious."
<Fine, fine, I'll stop them until the situation is stable.>
"Alright, I want to see the result, not just promise."
<Sigh, you and your act. Anyway, don't you want to know about Leo?>
"Not really, I know he'll be fine. He's my son, you know. I will see him in a year anyway, and it will be more interesting if I don't know anything until we meet again. Rather than him, I am more interested to know about Uta."
<She's alright, she's getting better by the day. Now she is with us, planning to go around and see the world. We agreed that it's best for her to know more about the world and see it from different points of view.>
"That's a good move. But it's not just her that needs to work on her problems. You also need to work on your problems with her as a father. Do you know how much I wanted to beat your ass when I knew you left Uta on that island just because of that reason? I mean you could make a better decision than that."
<Time was tight when that happened, man. But I know your point, so I will work on it. Thanks for giving me the opportunity to save her before it's too late though. I realized that if you didn't make me go there last year, then I might lose her soon.>
"Show your thanks by doing your job well. I'll hang this up, it seems the discussion is over."
<Alright.>
Buggy closes the call as he sees Dragon, Aokiji, and the others who talked in the base are coming out. They go to the harbor where the Marines are standing guard while watching the only pirate ship left there.
"Are you done?"
Buggy stands on the front of his ship and asks them.
"As if this scale of discussion will be over in just a few hours. It's just that we have agreed on the most important thing and decided to take action to stabilize the situation first. Other things can be talked about as we progress further."
Dragon says it while grinning, so Buggy knows that it went according to his plan. The Marines look quite dissatisfied though, but their expressions aren't that bad. He assumed that even though they weren't satisfied with the result, it was not a bad thing either for them.
"So we can leave now, right?"
"Not so fast, Clown."
"Sigh, what do you want, Kuzan?"
"This whole mess was caused by you and your crew, so we want you to take responsibility. Dragon said that you aren't the type of man who will leave the mess you made irresponsibly."
Buggy raises an eyebrow when he hears how Aokiji talks about him, but he stays silent and waits for the Iceman to finish.
"The New World, we want you to protect it as if you and your men are marines until the situations all over the world return to normal. If you do that, we will allow you to explore our islands in the future."
It's not just Buggy and his crew that get surprised by what Aokiji says. The Marines who didn't join the discussion are shocked too. They can't believe their Fleet Admiral asks a pirate crew to do the Marines' jobs. Sure, the Clown Pirates have the power to do that, but they are still pirates, criminals.
"Are you saying I will be something like a Warlord now?"
"You can interpret it in that way. We know well that this war will massively change the world. The Marines' power alone isn't enough to solve all the problems that will appear. We have Cipher Pol in the past, but they are Celestial Dragons' dogs and you have basically destroyed them. Although there are still many agents remaining all over the world, those guys won't listen to us. They were trained to only listen to Celestial Dragons. It won't be strange either if they even become our enemies now that we've made an agreement with the people who destroyed their organization. That's why we want you to handle the problems in the New World so we can handle the other seas. New World is the most troublesome sea, after all. If we also handle this sea now, we will need to use too many people and it will be harder to control the other seas. Of course, we will still leave our men here, but we will focus more on other seas, especially Paradise. How is it, Clown?"
"Heh, I don't care about the other reasons. Knowing we can explore your islands is enough for us. It was the reason why we started this war, after all. Fine, we'll do it, we'll guard New World. So you better keep your promise or it will be Marine's turn to be destroyed next."
Buggy grins before ordering his crew to leave. He has gotten what he wants, so there's no need to stay here any longer. The war has truly ended now with the pirates as the victors once more.
