Chapter 1: The Beginning (William perspective)
"William, William!" My mother said making me snap out of my daze, I was sitting at our table in the middle of the kitchen next to my sister Amethyst. Across from me was my brother, Arthur and next to him was my mother who was talking to me. At the end of the table was my father, I looked to see what everyone was wearing that day. My sister Amethyst wore her black skirt, and white t-shirt as usual. My brother wore a green t-shirt with some black trousers. My father wore a black long sleeved shirt with chainmail over it, with armor covering his legs. My mother wore a faded yellow t-shirt with a brown skirt, and finally I wore a black long sleeved skin tight shirt like my father, with camouflage trousers. My mother had just finished setting the food out when she said "once you, and Amethyst finish eating I want you to go get me some herbs from the forest."
I groaned as I said "why does it have to be with Amethyst, can't I go with Arthur?"
"No you cannot, Arthur is in charge of helping me in the fields today so your stuck with Amethyst." My mother said sternly. I sighed, and grabbed some food from the three plates in front of me. I had to smack Amethysts hand away many times, as she tried to steal my food even though she had her own.
After finishing, I left the table and put on my black combat boots. Amethyst put her black combat boots as well. Me and Amethyst were the two most like dad, we both wanted to grow up to be knights just like him. So every birthday we had, me and Amethyst would get at least one thing that we could train with.
As me and Amethyst walked down the hill in order to get to the forest, I started to brag about this and that saying " proud know what! When we get to the forest we should see who can get the most herbs! What do ya say?"
Amethysts eyes lit up as she said "sure! But I bet I'll beat you in no time!"
With that we both started running to the woods, once we got there we looked around for any herb we could find. We were carful not to stray to far into the woods and stayed near each other so the other didn't get lost. After around an hour I started to smell some herbs a little further into the woods so mr and Amethyst looked for the source of the smell. Eventually we got to a small clearing that had a whole bunch of herbs all around. I looked to Amethyst with a grin on my face, and she looked back with the same grin. I counted down from five, and when I reached one we both raced to see who could get all the herbs in the clearing the fastest.
I had just picked up another handful of herbs when I heard it, a growl it was deep and I knew exactly what it was. I slowly backed away from where I was, and reached Amethyst. In a whisper I said "there's a wolf we need to get out of here."
Her eyes widened in terror, we slowly went the way we came but the wolf ran out of the woods and charged straight for us in a matter of seconds. Seeing that it was chasing us, me and Amethyst ran through the woods neither of us knowing where we were going. As we ran down a hill, the wolf ran out of some bushes right next to me and pounced. The wolf had me pinned on the ground, I was absolutely terrified. I screamed, and cried as I tried to get the wolf off of me. Amethyst had fallen to the ground paralyzed with fear. The wolf opened its mouth, and bit my shoulder. The pain came quick and I didn't even have a moment to realize what had just happened, as the wolf continued to bit me and tear off bits of my flesh. Just as I bought I was going to die though I heard a voice, it was a sweet, calming voice. The voice whispered in my ear saying "we can't have you die yet, there's a sharp stick next to to you. Use it."
Following the advice of the voice, I felt for the stick. As soon as I grabbed it, I stabbed it into the wolves head. The wolf fell to the ground, I laid there in so much pain. Amethyst crawled towards me and when she saw what had happened she started to cry and say "I'm so sorry, I should've done something! But I was so scared!"
I started to feel myself drift off into sleep, but just before I did I felt someone pick me up. Looking for who it was, I saw a man. He had a hood over his face so all I could see was his mouth. It seemed like he was some kind of assassin based on his clothing.
I continued to feel the pain, and drifted in and out of consciousness continually. Finally my eyes closed and I fell into unconsciousness.
