Chapter 26: Event (4)
So, the third round is about to start. I'm not gonna go over what happened in between the rounds because the break time was pretty uneventful (as break time should be). Long story short, Sasha and I sat there doing nothing for a couple of hours.
Now that the next battle is starting, I can see my competition. Seems that we're going against a Plant and Fire magician. Honestly, I have no idea how they've made it this far, that's a terrible combination.
"Let the battle begin!"
As soon as the battle starts, to keep the Fire magician from firing off any shots, pun intended, I up the effect of gravity on the oxygen around him, making it sink to the floor. Specifying one target to be affected by another's gravity is difficult by the way.
Reducing the effect of gravity on something is simple, and upping the gravity of an object is a cinch, but specifying something to be affected by another's gravity specifically is difficult. Because you are basically doing the impossible, making a gravitational pull only target one thing, it couldn't be done if it wasn't magic.
Basically, the guy cannot set off his Fire magic, and on top of that can't breathe, so he just kind of passes out. The Plant magician is easily taken out by Sasha, who just cuts up anything coming towards her with her extended claws created from Transformation magic.
"The winners of this round are, once again, Jess Heart and Sasha Lano!"
That round was super easy, honestly, how did those two make it so far, they were the easiest ones to beat by far. I honestly don't understand.
On to the next round I guess, I wouldn't complain if that round is as easy as this one was. I hope I didn't just jinx it or something. That would be bad.
=== 2 hours later ===
I totally jinxed it. Sasha and I were just pitted up against probably the hardest team in our bracket. I believe they are called the 'Support Twins' or something because they specialize in double team battles and support one another.
They look practically the same, except for one having a scar on their ear. Both are mouse-kin with gray hair and brown eyes. They are pretty short, only like 5'2, but I guess that goes with their species.
One specializes in Healing magic, and the other in Enhancement magic, both of which are taught in specialized schools. Healing magic is obviously only taught in medical curriculums, and Enhancement magic is normally taught in martial arts schools.
The battle starts, and instantly both twins are enhanced with 'Speed Up'. I can't keep track of them, and even Sasha can't keep an eye on one of them. Look at them scurrying like rats, well I guess technically they are mice.
I try to slow them down by making gravity pull down on them more, but using that spell on a moving target is difficult. It's possible to even use magic on something I can't see, like all those people during the attack on the school, but it takes a ton of MP, which I want to have as much as I can of for the later rounds.
I need to use something a lot more cost-effective to take these two out. I got it! I cast 'Singularity'. I know this takes a lot of MP to use, however not only does it stay open without using more MP, but I've reduced the amount of MP it takes to open through practice! Basically, I'm paying in advance by using it.
I use 'Singularity' to absorb the ground and create a huge crater to threaten them. Who would want to go against someone who can obliterate terrain? Well, I just stored it in 'Singularity' but they don't know that.
I have to release everything in 'Singularity' to close it, so I still have that Singularity from earlier open, but I keep it hidden so people can't see it. Now for why I made a new one... I might have forgotten I had that one. Ever grabbed a new pencil to find one in your pocket? It's like that.
"What the heck! You're gonna kill us!" Creepy! They talk in unison, is this a horror movie!
"Don't worry 'Singularity' won't kill you... I think."
"YOU THINK?!?"
"Look, if you just cooperate and surrender, then this fight will be over, okay?"
"Y-you just removed the land you have to run away with!"
I give them the most intense glare I can to bluff my way out and say, "I'd like to see you make me run away." Making the 'Singularity' come over my hand.
Ahhh, this is so embarrassing! I feel like a chuunibyou doing all this! Also, talking in front of all these people in the crowd is so stressful!
"W-we'll keep fighting!"
"Your choice," I say as monotonously as possible. Now that they are standing still, I can use my Gravity magic on them without using much MP! I increase the gravity pulling down on them to around 5G's I thought that 4 might not be enough, and it seems like I was right.
They are really hanging on huh, well they can't stand anymore, I think this counts as a win, while they are nauseous I try to push them off, but forget they technically weigh five times as much as normal. Whatever, I'll just wait until they pass out.
They last for like thirty seconds before they blackout, which saying that they haven't had any training like stunt or air force pilots, that's impressive. Even considering the fact that the Enhancement magic that one of them was casting helped.
"The winners of this round are Jess Heart and Sasha Lano! They are moving onto the second event!"
Let's go! Next event, here I come! Something that's not battling will hopefully be a lot more fun! I hide my 'Singularity' in my body and walk to the waiting room for the next event to start.

Sasha's POV:
"I didn't get any spotlight in that battle! I practically got carried!" Ahh! How did this happen! I thought that I would get to stick out more than this!
