The next morning Harry found himself doing sprints and stretches around the black lake and performing other exercises like squats,burpees etc keeping up with his football fitness routine as helped improve his speed, stamina and endurance while keeping his physique slim.
Harry finished his breakfast and went to the Great Hall to have breakfast with everyone who were having breakfast were looking at his sweaty countenance weirdly, Harry just ignored them and carried on with his breakfast eating a healthy amount, when he felt someone clearing their throat behind him trying to catch his attention and when Harry turned around it turned out to be Professor Flitwick.
"Mr.Potter I am professor Flitwick and I am your head of house, here is your class schedule and also a map of Hogwarts which shows where you are at any time and it helps in finding your classes easier. " the professor said.
Harry thanked the Professor and returned to his dorm to take a shower and get ready for his first class which was Herbology with the Slytherins. In the meanwhile Harry made a note to come up with some way to obtain the Marauders Map from the Weasley twins as it was very useful and his Mom told him about certain features she had added to it while she was dating his dad in seventh year before the map was confiscated by Filch. Harry descended to the Ravenclaw common room and found Padma also sitting in the common room and together with her they went to greenhouse number 3 where Professor Sprout who was a dumpy cheerful witch and also the head of house of Hufflepuff took the classes for Herbology for the first to third years.
Harry hadn't learned much about Herbology even though he read some books on it for his Potions and even helped his mother in her garden where she grew magical herbs and plants for her potions and even though he was good at it he had no natural skill or even interest in it. Professor Sprout paired the one Ravenclaw student with one from Slytherin and Harry was paired with Daphne Greengrass and the assignment for that class was to prune a Flutterby bush.
" You surprised a lot of people yesterday with your sorting Potter, everyone was expecting you to go into Gryffindor like all other Potters ", remarked Tracey Davis who was working on the work station next to his.
" It was a toss up between Slytherin and Ravenclaw but ultimately the sorting hat decided on Ravenclaw, " Harry replied.
" Afraid of the big bad Slytherins Potter, " sneered Draco Malfoy who was listening in to their conversation.
"Nothing as such, it's just that it is frowned upon to kill someone for insulting your mother's blood status I believe, but if you have a death wish I would be happy to oblige," Harry replied candidly making Draco blanch, something in Harry's tone told him that he was not joking. Daphne Greengrass was enjoying Potter putting down the smug blonde ponce, she was finding Potter to be a mystery as he was not like what she believed a heir of a Most Ancient and Noble house especially a house in the Light faction would behave, and she was determined to figure him out as she didn't enjoy unpredictable variables. "
The next class was Defence against the Dark Arts with Hufflepuff and Harry shared a bench with his cousin Susan and Padma,the class proved to be a complete waste of time as Harry couldn't understand a single sentence of what Quirrel was uttering through his stuttering and Harry had to admit that Quirrel was an excellent actor. Harry decided to resort to self study for this year for defense against the dark arts.
The next class, which was History of magic ,which was another important subject also proved to be a disappointment as it was taught by a ghost teacher Professor Binns who managed to make an interesting subject like History of magic sound dreadfully boring by droning on and on about goblin rebellions and nothing else , most of the class were sleeping within fifteen minutes of the start of the class and Harry was resigned to resorting to self study for another subject.
The last class of the day turned out to be Charms with Gryffindors which Harry greatly enjoyed as Professor Flitwick turned out to be an enthusiastic and cheerful teacher who had them performing the Lumos charm which Harry performed on the first try with just a flick of his wand, Professor Flitwick was delighted and said to Harry, " Very well done Mr Potter, take five points for Ravenclaw, now practice increasing and decreasing the brightness of the light , it will improve your control over your magic, " and Harry spent the rest of the class doing as the professor suggested.
