Ralph was in a chirpy mood when he got home to his sprawling three-story bungalow. Steamy memories of the long, exhausting night with Veena were still fresh in his mind. She was the most beautiful woman he had ever met -- the kind of woman he’d feel proud having by his side. *Yeah, she’ll make a good mistress… I think this will work out.*

“Son, where were you last night?” Datin [1] Rose Tang was at the dining table reading the papers.

“Oh, hi, Mum. Err… was entertaining a client. One thing led to another, and... you know how it is…”

“You work too hard! I must get the maid to prepare you some herbal soup.”

“Thanks, Mum. I need to hit the shower, then I’ll have to head out again.”

“Sit with me for a while. I have something I want to discuss with you.”

“Sure. What is it, Mum?”
