Chapter 1: 1. It's Just The Beginning
<Rumble….Rumble>
All of sudden, I heard something…. It felt like a rumbling sound.... I opened my eyes to look around..."What's going on here, Damn I can't see anything"
Everything around me was pitch black….. It didn't make any sense, I wasn't able to move out of my place. My senses were not responding, nor could I call out for someone…. <Thump…Thump...Thump…...….!>
Then Suddenly I heard someone walking towards me..
It was all so sudden that I wasn't able to make up with the situation…. I was feeling somewhat like both confusion and fear at the same time, my body was giving out chills….
Suddenly I heard someone whisper right behind my right ear….
"So….Are You Scared, Little Ren….?? HeHe…."
I felt a chill run down my spine…!! And I was sweating as hell...! Speaking of 'Scary'...!! But after that I heard something, something that somehow sounded strange….
"Aww…. Going Down Already? Never Saw That Coming, After All The Game Isn't Over Yet..."
<Thumped> A light flashed out in front of my eyes…..
I startled up from my place….. My vision was blurry though, I was able to move now…Hence I started looking around me….
I was on the bed, it was around 6:46 PM, Evening….
What an awful time for dreaming; I was dreaming for almost 8 hours….Damn!!
(Suddenly someone knocked on the door) <Knock..Knock>
"Ren....Hey Ren, what happened? Everything's fine in there…??" It was Alex….She was calling out for me from the other-side of the door….For reference… She is one of my comrades in the mission….
"Nevermind Alex, it's all cool here…" <Cough….Cough> "You can come in, the door isn't locked…." <Cough>
I answered her…..
The door half opened…. "What's up, Ren? You look pale…!" Alex asked while peeping through the door…..
I turned around and said "Yeah I'm fine, it's nothing!! Don't concern yourself..." While giving out a fake smile.
Alex gasped "Yeah, I can totally see that on your face….You guys can't even lie properly….Can you??" while maintaining her steps towards me….. <angry>
For some reason, She was looking concerned too...
"He...Hee, sorry my bad…!!" I tried to Laugh it off but that made her much angrier….!
Alex then said "Will you get up already, Please go and get a bath, we'll be waiting outside for you, is that clear" while looking at me with a cold expression….
….."Ok ok, I'm in. Stop staring at me with that look..."
Then I went to the bathroom, took a shower and as she mentioned, my clothes and equipment were there too...
She was already gone until I was out of the bathroom. Then suddenly my eyes fell on a small pouch which was on the table near the bed. I opened it and found a piece of paper with a pair of earphones….
"Room 461" Was written on that piece of paper.
I wore the earphones and came out of that room....
That was when I noticed that we were basically on a ship and were sailing somewhere, far from the town…..I started recounting the situation. "Hmm…I may have been unconscious when they brought me here….Anyway, let's get to work… shall we??" I mumbled to myself…...
<CH-TRIC..! CH-TRIC..!!>
"What's up with this door, why wouldn't it open…."
I tried to open the door, reaching the respected room..."Arghhh….. It's locked..!! But why?" I mumbled….
"Sure it is....Ren!" Suddenly someone whispered through the earphones….I knew who it was….It was Violet…"Then, what should I do, Miss Violet...?" I asked back…."Do I have to break it out to you? You know what to do don't you…..?" Of course, she was throwing a tune..."Hmm.….Yeah, I'm on it....." I replied, maintaining my voice….
"Well, Well.....Thinking of the consequences, breaking through the door isn't gonna work. So, I need to think of another measure…." I thought...
"Hmm…Let's see" I then looked around myself, I noticed a lady passing by me. Then I got wind of something, so I moved towards the lady and..….
"Excuse me miss, can I have a moment of yours…."
"Mee…..sure, how can I help you...?" The Lady stopped and replied.
I then said, pointing towards her hair "I just noticed, your flowery 'Side Combs' are falling apart…..Miss"
She then looked at me and said….
"….Hah!, Are they? Arrrgh...!! Sorry to ask of you but will you be kind enough to help me out with this please, kind sir" She was looking a little bit distressed….!!
"Sure….That will be my honour" I offered her….
With that said, I plugged out a hairpin from her hair…. And using that pin, the door was finally unlocked. When I opened it a little, suddenly a hand from inside pulled me in…..
"Took you long enough....Haa!! What'chu been upto out there..." <Annoyed>
(This person here is Violet…. For now, she is my 3rd comrade….)
"Yeah, about that…Wait a second, did someone locked you in here??" I asked her…..
"Not really...Leave that stuff for now, we need to hurry. Alex is waiting for us, we should leave this place as soon as possible….."
"There's nothing we can do anymore….The rope is already out of our hand" Violet rasped looking at me.
She was really looking disappointed.
Why won't she; After all we were retreating from the mission…. It was because we were not able to retrieve the IDT report with the CR⁷ Chip from the Renford Research Facility….
It was our primary objective… But because of some technical issues, our connection from the head quarters was cut off and we were not able to capture directive locations and ended up with just the CR⁷ Chip. And up until that time all our supplies were already finished hence, the headquarters directed us to retreat. Moreover while retreating we were ambushed by a team of 6 private agents who were sent after us by the research facility itself. I almost died on the run, by the rounds of one of their shooters. Although their bullets didn't hit me but while luring one of the assaults, I ripped a grande in around 5 m of radius which almost knocked me unconscious….I was carried by my comrades to the ship after that….
Then I suddenly remembered what I heard today in my dream…. No way after that I was giving up. So, I smiled and said "You know what Violet, you are right. This is what they are gonna think…. But that doesn't apply for me though....Heh!!"
With that being said, I continued..."This is not where my mission ends…. this is where it actually begins…. After all, Fortune Always Favours The Bold….!"
She then looked towards me with an ominous look.... "What!! Are you serious? Don't tell me you are thinking about returning back. Going back there would be like inviting The Grim Reaper to build our own Graves…..We are even short on supplies…..Please try to reconsider" She brust out....
Up until that point, I already made up my mind. So, there's no way back...."Not a snowball's chance in hell…. I have to show that bastard what I am capable of..." Saying that I rasped...
<Thud... Thud..... Thud> (someone entered the room....)
"Please don't talk crazy now….The consequences are already disastrous, walking any further, without any support will be useless" Alex joined the conversation…
"Yeah that is correct but…..Hey I'm not pushing anyone here.. You guys are free to retreat if you want. I'll pull this off all by myself…." I said.
Hearing that, both of them started staring at me with a blunt expression….."What's with that look?" I asked...
"Hmp...! Is that so. Fancy coming out from someone who fainted during the last fire...." Violet laughed, making fun of me...Hence in reply I said "Yeah....Yeah, so funny, Little Princess" That made her really mad…."What you said…..You little brat!" In reply, I smiled and said "You heard me…!!"
Suddenly Alex stepped up between us "Enough…..Stop it you guys…Don't make it any more bad...There are so many issues already…." She declared….
Then she looked at me giving out a serious look…..
"So...Ren…. Is it really your last call...??"
In Response "Yeah it is….This is my last chance. If I fail here, he won't be able to rely on me for anything and I don't want to be just a burden to him" I said…
Then they both looked at each other...
"Then it's decided… Isn't it Violet?" She smiled…
"What….!! What do you mean by that?" I asked Alex...
Violet walked towards me and said… "Hah….! Then, count us in too, Ren....!"
"For real.... But weren't you guys saying 'It's gonna be deadly' So how come...Now??" I said, mocking them...
Then Violet walked infront of me, grabbing my collar and said "Seriously...You think, we can leave a brat like you all by yourself on the field, Hah! Don't make me laugh here..."In reply I smiled "My..My, how generous of you to be concerned about me like that..!!" And said..
Alex then smiled and offered "We'll be joining you… Ren! After all we are partners aren't we..."
"Sure... Thanks, You Guys….I really owe you one for that.…I really mean it..." I consoled them….I was really happy to get their assistance on my plan...
Then Violet yelled…."And, since you are the one who dragged us into this mess, now what is the plan? You do have a plan, don't you.." Looking directly at my eyes…."Yeah about that…. where should we start? You got a wind of something, Ren....!!" Alex asked me….
In reply, I said "First thing first….We have to contact Hans.... This time, we might need his assistance…."
"Carlos Hans…..Is that who you mean…. Isn't he a supplier…." Alex mumbled….
"Just after hearing that name..."Noo....Please…!! Not him… He's such a weirdo….And Stop giving out that smile, it's creepy…." Violet started whining...
"Stop that Violet…!! We shouldn't be picky about who can help us…After all, we even have an advantage against him... Isn't...Hehe…" I insisted, with a devilish smile…
"Don't you dare look at me with that look, Arghhh...!!" Violet glared at me….<Hmmpt…!!>
"This really doesn't sounds too healthy, Anyway..." Alex said, giving out an ominous look...
"You Guys…. There is no return from here.... You know that, don't you....??..." Cutting my words in the middle, Violet yelled... "We know that, so stop cutting corners already.... We're joining you that's final...!!"
Hearing that I smiled.....
"Then, Let's Pull Our Triggers and Bite The Bullet, Shall We...?? After All, This Is Just The Beginning, Isn't It....."
