Chapter 2: THE MAN'S ARRIVAL
Edward keeps returning to his wife's room with a million thoughts haunting him. The woman he loved was sleeping peacefully, but Edward's heart could feel the pain on that face more.
Especially after he did the medical check up earlier. Instead of sitting next to Sonia's bed, he preferred to sit on a plush sofa facing the other way.
He tilted his head, gently massaging her perfect forehead.
Not long after the bedroom door opened, Edward lifted his face and glanced at the door. "Edward?" a man said to him.
"Steve!" Edward answered he stood up and went straight to Steve and hugged him.
"I was at home, but the housekeeper said your wife was sick so I came here" Steve continued "Is she okay?" Edward nodded, and Sonia was awakened by the conversation.
"Hi" Steve approached Sonia and held out his hand.
Sonia took the hand and smiled. "Hi" she replied.
"Sorry for this, I should have come to your wedding, but we met at the hospital for the first time!" Steve looked pitiful.
"I know you're pursuing your dream of making the best quality global medicine, so what's the outcome, the result of abandoning your younger brother's marriage?" Edward quips at his brother, which makes Steve feel bad for Sonia too.
"I will know the results, I am here to register the drug so that it is internationally recognized I hope to see the final results soon!" Steve seemed hopeful with his words.
"Get some rest first, maybe you are tired after arriving from the Netherlands straight away!" said Sonia. "I got enough sleep on the plane, no problem" The two brothers sat back on the sofa while a nurse came to replace Sonia's exhausted IV.
After chatting Steve said goodbye to meet his mother and father, he met his younger brother before his parents.
Edward escorted him to the hospital lobby. On the way home Steve thought about the medicine he saw on the table in front of the sofa he had sat with Edward earlier.
The medicine he understood very well because it was the medicine he had been researching all this time.
The next day Edward has a job that requires him to go out of town for a week. And he asked Steve for help to pick up Sonia at the hospital.
Steve did not refuse, because he also did not have much work, before Edward married he did live in his sister's luxurious house compared to his parents.
This time, Edward didn't mind if his brother lived in his house, indeed the house had many bedrooms on the first and second floors. Sonia's infirmary door opened, the woman thought Edward had come, but her hopes were dashed because it was her brother-in-law who came.
"Sonia, Edward went out of town for my business to pick you up I'm free," Steve said after stepping into the room.
"I'm sorry, it's a hassle even though I can go home alone if Edward doesn't pick me up.
"No problem, I have nothing to do anyway!" Sonia was helped out of the room by Steve and into an Italian sedan that was parked in front of the VVIP patient hospital.
"I've seen this car in Papa's garage, but no one is driving it! Turns out it's yours, Sis!" Steve turned to Sonia, as he saw her holding the car door.
"There are lots of cars, Papa can use any car as long as it's not a Jaguar!" Steve replied. "Jaguar?" Sonia asked, she saw that the car brand wasn't what Steve called.
"It's not the brand, but the name of this car is Jaguar, I gave it a name because the color is thick like a black jaguar," Steve explained. Sonia nodded. They arrived home. And straight into the living room.
"Sonia, are you okay with me staying here? I don't usually sleep at Mama Papa's when I come back to New York!" Sonia turned, "Of course , besides there are many rooms here, you can use them like before I lived here!" Steve smiled happily at Sonia's words.
The woman who is now his sister-in-law is indeed told by Edward as an open-minded woman.
Days go by, Sonia is now more used to eating with Steve! Steve also enjoyed playing basketball in the backyard, although alone he seemed excited.
One week passed, Edward only occasionally called Sonia because he was tired after going to the field to check the construction of the new tower.
Sonia who looked dreamy alone was approached by Steve. "Are you okay?" Sonia lifted her face. "I'm good, thank you!" Sonia smiled her sweet smile.
"Wanna try basketball?" Steve held the basketball and showed Sonia he was ready to sweat, "I'll teach you!" Steve continued with a cool style.
"Of course, I really want to learn thank you Brother!" replied Sonia, with clothes that were appropriate enough to play basketball, Sonia immediately went down to the field behind her house with Steve.
Steve explained how to win the ball and gave an example of throwing a basketball into the hoop, Sonia innocently nodded.
But just as Steve played the basketball, Sonia in a matter of seconds snatched the ball from the hands of the man she called Big Brother. Steve was surprised, just when he looked the ball had been thrown by Sonia into the ring and entered, making Steve's eyes widen. "Ah, sorry Brother I just learned how to do it like that?" asked Sonia, innocently.
Steve, who was holding back his pride because he was too arrogant to teach Sonia with words, tried to find an excuse. "That's good for beginners, don't be too fast or you can fall because the field is slippery," Sonia nodded.
Now Steve gave the ball to Sonia, and with a trick he immediately used, Sonia was again able to get past Steve and put the ball into the ring. "Sonia, should we try to get the ball into the ring the fastest until the count of 10?" Sonia nodded.
The ball is thrown up, Steve is in control but Sonia can snatch the ball from her sister-in-law's hands.
And the next ball goes into the ring. Again and again, from the 10 points that Steve mentioned! Sonia leads with 7 points. "Son, did Edward teach you this much?" Steve asked curiously.
Sonia sighed, while wiping the sweat off her forehead! "I taught Edward, not the other way around," replied Sonia.
He smiled by showing a row of neat white teeth, making Steve look at the owner of that smile and the dimples that beautify the scene, he could only be silent when Sonia turned her body and walked into the house.
Steve was fascinated for the first time by his sister-in-law, and snorted a stifled smile.
