Chapter 57: Run Run Run

Warr:

Roar!

The sounds of roaring woke me from my slumber. (Mother!) I thought as I ran towards the sound. I was filled with glee as I raced through the forest.

It only took me a few minutes to reach the source of the roar. I saw my mother standing over a dead boar. Her orange fur was covered in blood and guts. It looked as if she had started eating without me. ( I shouldn't have fallen asleep.) I thought. I had been waiting for hours by myself while my mother hunted. Seeing the close was clear, I moved my little body as fast as possible, reaching my mother. She gestured for me to start eating.

I wasted no time digging into the boar. I gorged myself on the meat. It had been a while since I had last eaten a decent meal. I was still considered too young to hunt. Finding food was pretty easy for my mother as a layer four tiger. But that was back in our old territory.

We were now in a new territory, so my mother was cautious. Because of this, we had been doing nothing but running and hiding for weeks. So my mother didn't have time to hunt.

I was happy to have something in my belly. I ate and ate. I didn't even stop when I felt myself getting full. I fed so long I lost track of everything else. I was too engrossed in my food.

Bang!

I was knocked away by my mother and sent flying, hitting the ground a few feet away from her. I looked up to see my mother bleeding from her side. I turned to see a boar who looked to be in a rage. It stopped around angrily with blood on its tusks.

The boar had attacked us why we ate. My mother had pushed me out of the way in time but received the attack in my stead. I wanted to run to my mother but stopped myself. The boar was a layer four, and it was mad. If I had to guess, I'd say the boar was most likely friends with the one I was just snacking on.

My mother roared at me to run. Just before the boar charged. I retreated into the trees out of fear, hiding under a downed tree. I waited for what felt like hours. The whole time I heard roaring and growling. I told myself my mother would be fine, but the sounds made it hard to believe that.

When the sounds of fighting were over, I got even more worried. Then the bushes started to move. I hoped the noise was my mother coming to find me. The sound of something walking near me caught my attention, and I peeked my head out.

(Mother!) I thought as I ran to her. She winced in pain as I hugged her legs. That's when I saw how beat up my mother was. She was covered in blood and guts. She was panted hard, but I was just glad she was alive.

"Little Warr, let's get away from here. The blood will Starr to attract more predators." Mother said as she started to move. I was disappointed that we had to leave our food for others to find, but I listened to my mother.

I walked closely behind my wounded mother. I could tell she was in pain, but she played it off like it was a minor injury. (Damn it! If only I was stronger.) I thought as we continued our walk. It took us longer to get back to our hiding place because of my mother's wounds. It was already night by the time we made it.

My mother went to sleep almost instantly, but I stayed up. I couldn't stop thinking about today. I was sick of living like this, running and hiding. When my father was alive, we never had to run.

My father was a layer seven Tigre. An alpha beast. When he made a kill, no other beast dared try to steal his meal. (The mighty Battle!) I remembered how my mother used to say his name. My father got his name from what he loved to do the most, battle. He didn't even love my mother, really. She was just one of his many wives. I doubt he loved me either. Fighting was his only real love. When the war started, he was the first to join in.

I missed my father, although I only met him a couple of times. He always looked larger than life itself. Battle was a god in my eyes. Not only mine but my mother's too. She would tell me stories of his exploits all the time. It made me long for a life like that of mighty Battle! But now, all I do is run. While I hated this life, my mother reveled in her new life. She was the only one of Battle's wives to run from the Warr. She knew she was too weak to fight alongside her husband. In my mother's Eyes, she was protecting Battle's last heir.

"Well, well. I thought I smelt something delectable." I heard a deep voice say from the top of the boulder we were sleeping under. I looked up to see a tigre just like my father, but instead of two horns. This tigre had only one like that of a ram. My mother woke up immediately stepping in front of me and the new tigre. Fear gripped me as I started to walk back.

My mother was wounded, not only that. The tiger in front of us was a tigre or, in other words, an alpha. Tigre was the name we give to tigers that reach layer five. My layer four mothers would be no match for the beast. Apparently, she realized this as well.

"Little Warr, I love you so much. Mother needs you to run, run and never look back." My mother said to me. Her words made tears fall from my eyes.

"Run!" My mother shouted, pushing me away. I took one long look at my mother before dashing away.

"Out of respect for your mother, I'll give you a headstart. Hahaha." The tigre announced loud enough for me to hear. I ignored him as I ran as fast as my little legs would take me. I ran for days. I didn't stop until I passed out. When I awoke, I was on my own for the rest of my life.

********************************************************************

HUH!

I woke up no longer in the body of my younger self. I hadn't dreamt of that night in years. Before I reached level five, the nightmare hunted me. I thought I squashed all those memories when I squashed the person accountable for them. Dirt, the tigre responsible for my mother's death, was now dead. I got pleasure from killing Dirt with my own claws.

I had spent many nights running and biding my time. Then I evolved until a tigre. Lucky for me Dirt was only a layer five as well. The day I challenged Dirt, I truly felt like I was my father's daughter. After defeating Dirt, I never had to run again. Well, that is until I met Gora.

"Good, you're awake!" A strange woman in a dark cloak announced as she appeared from the trees. The woman was always disappearing and reappearing out of thin air. It made me uneasy, to say the least. That and I didn't even know the woman's name, but I knew she was strong. Far stronger than me and even better, stronger than Gora.

"Morning, master. I said respectively. The woman had been my benefactor for over a month now. Supplying me with Ki so that I could level up. Today was the day I got my revenge. Yesterday I had reached layer seven. I monuments moment, but I couldn't savor it for long. As long as Gora still lived, I couldn't rest ease. (She's just more Dirt for me to step on.) I thought as the strange woman walked towards me.

"You have done well, little Warr. Level seven is nothing to scoff at. But I have to ask, are you ready?" My master said. I couldn't see her eyes under her cloak, but I knew she was starring at me. I didn't know why the woman wanted Gora dead, but I was just happy for her help. It would've taken me months to reach this layer if I was alone. By then, there was no telling how strong Gora would become.

I hated to admit it, but the beast Queen was a freak of nature. Even my master agreed with this fact. If we left her alone any longer, she would surpass us both. At least that was my thinking.

"I'm ready, master. Just point me in the right direction." I said. The woman nodded before coming closer.

"Good. Gora has started moving. She's with her new army now, but I'm sure they won't join in if you issue a challenge. The beast Queen would have no choice but to accept." My master explained, petting my head. I didn't bother telling her to stop. Even after reaching layer seven, I was still no match for my master.

"Let those little peons try to join in. I'll crush them." I said, thinking of that damn spider monkey and that mutt. I would make sure to kill them as well. When I kill Gora, I'll most definitely have to kill them as well.

"That's the spirit, young disciple, but remember, Gora is the only one I'm after. After she's gone, you can do as you please. Even become the next Beast Queen!" My master said with a laugh as she began to walk away. I started to follow. (Beast Queen, huh? It does have a nice ring to it.) I thought, following close behind my master. She was no doubt taking me to Gora.

(Just wait, little girl. Soon you'll be the one on the run, but this time you won't get away from me.) I thought as I prepared myself for battle. My father would have been proud.

Tigre: This is a term used mainly by tigers. It refers to a tiger that has reached layer five and evolved.

Battle: Warr's father and a layer seven beast. The beast got his name for being he loved to fight.

Dirt: A layer five tigre responsible for the death of Warr's mother. He got his name because his fur was the color of dirt.
